Well I wish I had a story to tell. Our excursion was cancelled due to weather visibility. Those are the chances you take I guess. We onlu had a short window of time to witness the aurora borealis. We travelled to Anchorage to provide free dental treatment to the underserved. We were hoping to get the chance to see it the night before we prepare for the 12 hour marathon on Saturday, that begins at 6:00am. We are more disappointed about the weather and not the group. Using the word terrible only expresses our disappointment and not our experience.

Came to Anchorage for a two day business trip and I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights. Most of the Anchorage based tour sites I tried wouldn't let me book as a solo traveler, so I was excited when I found this tour. I really appreciate that they tell you upfront what criteria they use to decide if the tour is going to go, and they don't take you out if there isn't a decent chance to see the northern lights. Our guide and driver, Colin, was informative, fun to chat with, and a safe driver. We got lucky and saw a spectacular light show. Most of us were not actual photographers, but we all got great pictures on our cell phones, and Colin made sure we got set up with the best views and took portraits of all of us in front of the lights.

My friend and I had the best time!!!! ! Ben was really friendly and definitely knew what he was doing!!! Other companies were trying to follow us & see where our tour guide was going because they’re much more experienced with the area than other companies. The first time we went, the aurora wasn’t really visible due to cloud coverage (but we still got amazing pictures from the first time) so we were able to get rebooked a few days later and it was really cool! The lights were more visible & ben took amazing pictures for us! Ben showed us the differences with the Milky Way, shooting stars, satellites, etc. Definitely going to do this again next winter with my husband! It’s definitely a plus getting progressional pictures (for free) at the end of the tour too!

Booked the tour Thursday night, March 15. Evening had an estimated k index of 3.67 at around midnight to 3am. Luckily, clear skies and little interference with the moon. Tour guide, Ben, picked me up from my Airbnb. We went to three locations. The last location was where we had the best view. The lights were more of a haze, but Ben was patient and we got to see the lights very vividly. He is very experienced and knowledgeable. Without this tour, I would not have seen the lights in the Anchorage area. Additionally, hot drinks, hand warmers, and snacks were provided. Best of all were the professional portraits and landscapes that were included, and download link sent afterwards. Excellent tour. I would definitely do it again.

The pros are that we did get to see the lights and were able to take some pretty amazing pictures. Our guide was also nice and did his job well. The cons are that none of the three locations we were taken felt safe. The first viewing location was on a frozen lake where people ice fish. We weren’t sure if the ice under us was compromised or not. The second location was an old bridge that was no longer in use and it was covered in a trail of ice. It also went over a river and had no railings. The third location was standing in the middle of the road and having to move when cars came down the road. All in all it would have been nice to just worry about the lights and not our safety while trying to get a good picture. If we had it to do over again we would have skipped this tour and taken our rental car out to view the lights ourselves. The value is just not here for what you get.

We booked a private tour for just my wife and me. They communicated with us extensively with great information on how to prepare for a once-in-a lifetime experience. Starting 3 days out from the scheduled tour, they advised that the weather and aurora viewing conditions would not be ideal, so we agreed to reschedule the tour for several days later. The guide picked us up from a private residence, was on time and we headed out to the first location. He constantly checked the aurora conditions using a phone app and explained the key metrics to look for. I'm a serious amateur photographer, so I normally don't need advice on how to configure or use my camera gear (3 camera bodies, several lenses and supports). However, shooting the aurora is *very* different from what's 'normal' for me, so I gladly accepted the guide's assistance to get set up. It was also extremely cold and dark; both conditions I wasn't used to. We decided to move on from our initial location as the aurora conditions weren't ideal yet. The guide was glad to accommodate my desire to find a location with more interesting scenic elements, so we drove to another spot. By then, the aurora conditions were improving and we got some terrific images (about 3:00a). The conditions continued to improve and we got many great photos at several more scenic spots. By about 5:00a the whole sky was lit up and we could even see the aurora's corona. We continued to shoot until after 6:00a (moon rise was at 5:30a). We had so much success observing and photographing the aurora that we never got around to a campfire or eating; didn't miss either at all! I enthusiastically recommend this tour company and would hire them again if/when we make return to Alaska.

This was a spectacular tour, going way out of Anchorage to see the Aurora borealis. Our guide and driver, Ben, was very knowledgeable about the area and the northern lights. He was helpful with photography, and knew where the best viewing should be. The full moon prevented us from seeing any aurora activity, but the moonlight on the mountains was breathtaking. I highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was awesome. He had a lot of knowledge and was happy to share. Only problem was the lights didn’t really come out that much. Hoping on the pics he took we will see something. AND it was -26 degrees for the entire night!!?!?! Not on them though. Had fun and would do it again. Thank you!

During our tour, we missed visiting two “potential” stops mentioned in the description, and unfortunately, we didn't witness the aurora. It seems Anchorage might not be the best location for aurora viewing, which was a key interest for us. However, the hot cocoa and cider provided were enjoyable.

This an awesome group of knowledgeable photographers and even more talented handling people, equipment, and working to make the best possible opportunities to capture incredible photos. Carl is a military veteran like myself and enjoyable to talk to about the Anchorage history as well as photography. Ben and Colin were the guides for the night adventure. I lowered the rating because there was some confusion about the options in the package I selected, but I was fully refunded for not getting a rental camera. Ben and Colin made sure everyone in the tour had ample opportunity to see the lights and stay warm will doing so. I also do think that the time traveling could be adjusted and the amount of people per vehicle be adjusted so it is not as cramp. I am very thankful and grateful that I got to experience the Northern Lights and their beauty with a professional and thoughtful group. I would follow the advice of wearing layers from the company website. I also recommend contacting them if you are a novice photographer like myself in order to get set up correctly and able to capture your time with the Northern Lights. Definitely worth the price, time, and effort!!

Can’t recommend this tour enough! The communication leading up was helpful in preparing me what to wear and what to expect. They had so many amenities ready for us - ice spikes, hot chocolate, hand warmers. Ben was a knowledgeable guide both on the northern lights and Alaska. The experience was incredible and the pictures turned out amazing!

It was a wonderful experience! Ben, our guide, was so helpful and he had such a great energy and gave us a lot of information about the town and the lights. We weren’t expecting to see much, but we were able to see the lights and they danced around and it was amazing! I highly recommend this!!

Ben took about 10 tourists in a van to Knik river near Pioneer mountain where Kavin joined with 3 more tourists. First there was no sightings then, they drove 15 minutes chasing aurora Northern Lights. After waiting for 5 minutes we proceeded further another 15 minutes and that's where there was very good aurora lights. As time passed, by around 02.45 hrs, there was abundant show in the sky. Ben also clicked our some of the memorable pics with aurora lights. In the meantime, Ben & Kavin treated us with coffee and snack bars. My wife and I loved the whole experience. If any, next time I would tour with them only.

I went two nights in a row—the first night we didn’t see any lights. (They informed us of this in advance and let us have the option of going or not going. I went---you never know if something could happen….) One the second day, they let me know that since nothing happened the previous night I could go again and that there was a higher probability of seeing them. And, we did! It was wonderful. While it was two long nights in a row, I was able to meet two different guides---they both knew a lot about photography, capturing the aurora cameras/ cell phones and were really kind. I really appreciated the attention they provided to all of the guests to make sure we all had a good experience. (The photos I'm sharing were provided to us after the experience.)
