The canal trip was excellent because of our guide and navigator. He had everyone on board laughing and made the trip interesting and funny. With only 8 adults on board it felt sociable and not crowded. He was a careful navigator, necessary because the canals were so busy. He was very caring of the children on board and made sure it was fun for them too. The wine and beer was a bonus.

Best cruise tour ever! We didnt realize when we booked this trip that it was Kings Day! The entire city was a party town and it was impossible to move! Our driver was running late but Jack called me… talked to my driver and we got out to walk. Jack met us a 100 yards from his boat and got us through the crowd! We ended up only 3 minutes late . Now the tour was great! Jack took us everywhere and we saw just about every highlight of the city including the bridge from Ted Lasso to the tilted buildings, the red light district and more! Jack and his hostess were wonderful. Plenty of fresh snacks soft drinks and alcohol if it fancys you ! With a max of 8 on his boat it was so much nicer then the sardine packed 10 euro trips ! Make sure you book this Capn Jack. Not the other :)

This was a terrific 90 minute cruise around the canals of Amsterdam. Captain Jack is extremely entertaining and also tremendously educated in both the history and current environment of the Netherlands.

Fantastic experience! The only canal boat tour to take. We had no interest in the large commercial boat tours, so this was perfect. Capped at 8 people, quality drinks and snacks, and nice history and stories about Amsterdam. Can sit outside with blankets or inside with heat. Run by a true Amsterdam native.

I booked the small group boat tour and it was a lovely experience. The boat was electric hence no noise and we were a small group of tourists so it felt more intimate, add to that the boat being small and able to cruise the smaller canals made us avoid the traffic out there and provided a really nice look at Amsterdam in the golden light of the late afternoon. Jack himself was friendly and always ready with a new bit of information as we sailed past various sections of the city. I'd recommend this for a canal tour in Amsterdam.

Captain Jack is a knowledgeable and entertaining host piloting his own very comfortable electric boat and leading us through lovely scenic and interesting canals of Amsterdam. Drinks were generous and varied, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. My only disappointment was with the snacks which were limited to the rather uninteresting highly processed salty variety.

We booked the max 8 people trip and ended up being the only guests. It was a cold and drizzly day so we needed to remain inside which should have been fine but the windows are very high and you see very little if seated. No table cloth and flowers as pictured but he does have a full open self serve bar. The tour was fine but if I had seen the boat before we booked through the hotel, I would have chosen another company.

My partner and I were scheduled to take Captain Jack’s group tour on a day when it was rainy and blustery. He personally called me and rescheduled to the next day, when we lucked into a private tour. I sat in the captain’s chair alongside him and my partner basked in the sunshine outside on the back of the boat and enjoyed the free champagne. Captain Jack is not only a very friendly guy, he is incredibly knowledgeable. As a professional historian myself, I can say that a conversation with Captain Jack was one of the best learning experiences of my life. We both came away from this tour with a greater appreciation for the city and its unique canal system — and my partner got to live out her dream of being on a boat. This tour was by far our best experience in Amsterdam and Captain Jack made it so. He is a wonderful host and raconteur and we would go back to Amsterdam just to take his tour again.

We had a great trip with captain jack, not only was it great fun it was very informative too. Lots of stories, interesting facts too. Highly recommend this to anyone. Loved the fact it was a smaller group too, much more personal. Would do it again for sure

The BEST way to tour Amsterdam!! Captain Jack is knowledgeable, entertaining & a super host! The small (it ended up with just the 2of us as the others cancelled) group is the way to go...comfortable boat, great drinks & snacks & of course Captain Jack himself!! DON'T MISS IT!!!

We would highly recommend this tour on your visit to Amsterdam. It was a lovely way to experience the city with the personal touches afforded by a small group setting. Captain Jack was very knowledgeable about the area and engaging to converse with. Drinks and snacks are a nice touch and you’re able to sit inside or outside.

Jack was an excellent guide, showing us the best of the houseboats, buildings, and bridges with full commentary on the history and interesting facts about each. Jack answered all of our questions including talking about what it’s like to live on the boat. We had cool but clear weather, and Jack had blankets so we could enjoy the outside views as well as inside. His bar was also very well stocked.

My husband and I took the 5 pm tour on March 4. It was a lovely evening. Only 4 people were booked for that trip so it felt very intimate (it might have felt crowded with 8 passengers). The cruise was very calm and peaceful. We enjoyed learning from captain Jack and appreciated his humor and candor about Dutch culture and history. A nice selection of drinks were offered along with snacks. There is a bathroom on the boat. I especially like the area where you get on and off the boat. I highly recommend this experience! This was my 4th visit to Amsterdam and first canal cruise.

Captain Jack was awesome, extremely knowledgeable of all things Amsterdam and was not shy about answering all of my ridiculous questions nor bringing up random advice and information about the architecture and surroundings to help break any silence. He was very knowledgeable and funny; we enjoyed it tremendously. There was a family of three from Germany and two guests from the U.S. who shared the small group experience. There was plenty of room for 6-8 on the stern and room for at least 10 inside. The Captain provides ample coke and water and multiple bottles of wine, champagne, and spirits. The tour was roughly 1.5 hours, and we saw areas that would require multiple canal tours or might not even have been accessible to larger tours.
