My husband, son and I are so glad we took this bike tour of the Bamboo Forest and Arashiyama. Ray was very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us insights into the sites and Japanese culture and people that we would never have gotten otherwise. We had been in country for several days, and after so much time walking everywhere and taking trains and subways, it was such a welcome change of pace to be outside and riding bikes to see the sights for the day. It was even a little rainy, but it was still one of our best memories from our Kyoto trip. Thank you, Ray!

I really enjoyed this tour and it was even better than I expected! It was perfect to tick off all our points of interest in the Arashiyama area. Ray was very nice, answered all our questions and gave us insights about his life in Japan. He also took pictures for the group, gave us rice crackers and told us funny jokes. On this tour we visited the bamboo forest, fed the monkeys, visited a temple and a shrine and we got moving on our bikes! I highly recommend this tour and i have only good things to say about Ray, he is a very dedicated guide!

Kyoto Bike Tour was recommanded to us by our trip organizer. We did the Afternoon Bamboo Forest & Monkey Tour. We were stopped to: 1) Matsuo Shrine (sake god / turtle) 2) Togetsukyo Bridge  3) Monkey Park  4) Mikami Shrine (hair god) 5) Bamboo Forest  6) Tenryuji Temple Sogenchi Garden and all tickets were included. Peter was a great guide! We, with our children (12 and 16 years old), had a lot of fun and highly recommend it.

This was the perfect intro to Kyoto for my son and I. As a mom, I appreciated Ray’s focus on safety and his calm way of moving around the city. He showed us famous sites and explained what we were looking at without just spitting facts at us. He’s got a great perspective, being a expat but living in the country for so long. You can tell he loves Japan. I loved riding on neighborhood streets that we definitely wouldn’t have found on our own. Excellent value, and if you’re thinking of booking it - do it! Thank you Ray! Don’t hesitate booking this tour! Ray is a fantastic host and guide, plus you get much more from the tour than is included in the description. The ride was lovely and the timing of the tour is such that the bamboo forest isn’t too crowded. There’s a 20 min hike up to the monkey area and then back down again. It’s not a difficult hike but something to keep in mind if you have knee sensitivity like me. I just took it nice and slow and everything was fine. Highly recommend! Best tour I’ve ever been on. We went out with the Henry even though it was a bit rainy. We had the option for a refund given the weather but decided to soldier on. It was the right call. The sights were amazing, Henry was knowledgeable, and a bike is truly the best way to see Kyoto, despite the weather. The upshot of a rainy day was that there were almost no crowds at the places we visited and the roads weren’t crowded. The best part was getting into the more rural areas on the edge of Kyoto. If other tours weren’t booked up already, would definitely have signed up for another tour. Well worth the time and money.

Fantastic tour, I highly recommend ! We did our tour with Ray who was very knowledgeable and easy to chat to. He answered lots of questions and gave us interesting information at each stop. He also took heaps of photos which were nice to see afterwards!

We had the best day on this tour, we went to so many places that you just wouldn't do on your own.. The views were spectacular and the guide Ray was wonderful! I honestly cant recommend this tour enough, the cycling is very light so dont worry about that! You really wont do anything more wonderful and you get great photos!!

Our bike tour in Kyoto, led by Peter, was unforgettable. The weather added to the adventure, with unexpected snow mixed with sunny skies, making the experience especially memorable. Peter provided gloves for the cold and took amazing photos, capturing every moment. Learning to pray at Shinto shrines and rubbing a turtle's back for luck were just some of the cultural highlights.
