What an amazing experience on the reef! Our trip ended up having only 6 people aboard, but we still had two biologists in the water at all times. Briefings on the reef and on the marine life before the snorkels were great and Callum and Sam continued to answer questions throughout the excursion. We had both snorkel sites all to ourselves and they were both phenomenal. Sam also gave us all kinds of suggestions for other activities in the area. I know there can be sticker shock from the price, but if you are traveling from overseas this is likely a bucket trip event— spring for the best experience!

Selected this trip due to reviews & small numbers of people only on board. Three (3) crew were very knowledgeable (all marine biologists) and made the day as good as they possibly could have done. Started early from the dock (approx 7:45am) which meant that the sea was calm on the way out. Visited 2 snorkeling sites, each for over 1hr - Chinamans Reef & one other. Weather up until this day had been bad with large swells & winds. The day itself was nice, however, the swell was still a little high on the reef & visibility not great (maybe 3-5m) Managed to see a turtle, a reef shark, lots of fish, clams & had the 2 reefs to ourselves. The trip covered all snorkeling equipment including stinger suits, lunch & drinks were also available for purchase on the way back. Go pro's could also be hired. Although more expensive than many other charters (e.g. Quicksilver), the experience was better as plenty of time on the reef, not being rushed & one guide per six (6) people in the water pointing out fish. Day would only have been better with better visibility & calmer conditions which could not be controlled by the crew.

Such a great trip, wonderful crew, felt very well catered for and safe. Such a great way to see the gbr. Felt like we hit some beautiful remote spots that may be tricky for the largest boats

Thank you so much to Sam and Callum for providing exactly what we were looking for as a snorkelling tour. Both informative and witty, I loved their delivery of what we could expect to see on the reef, and once we were in the water, the information continued to flow. You will see a coral and sea life wonderland. They know their stuff (marines biologists), so if you want more than just a day out snorkelling, I can not recommend ABC highly enough. They are great fun, very smart, and make your tour feel like it has gone way too quickly. Highly recommended 👌 👍 💪

We decided to go with ABC for our fourth and final snorkelling trip as the reviews were so positive and our previous snorkels with other companies hadn’t quite given us the experience we were hoping for. We couldn’t be more pleased we chose to go with ABC and can’t thank Sam, Callum and Jason enough for making the day so relaxed, special and an overall highlight of our trip. Sam and Callum are both marine biologists with a wealth of knowledge and experience that they shared with us both in and out of the water. Without them, there would have been so many amazing marine species that we would have missed and honestly, no other company we have experienced thus far has provided us with so much engaging and interesting information. They were always open to questions and it felt like they were just as keen as us to learn and see the reef. We were taken to tongue reef on our trip - one of many reefs that most other boats/companies have no access to, meaning that the marine wildlife is less disturbed and therefore promotes natural marine behaviour. As you aren’t sharing the water with 400+ other people (yes - some companies will take this many!), you truly get the most authentic experience of the Great Barrier Reef. We were lucky enough to see turtles, reef sharks, endangered and rare barramundi cod, clown fish, parrot fish and so many more reef fish. We know this is not guaranteed but really felt that ABC offered the best opportunity to be able to see such beautiful animals and the coral. ABC are hands down the BEST company to go with it you’re after a really magical time on the Great Barrier Reef and we are already recommending them to our friends who have trips to Aus planned over the next year. An absolutely great outfit! First of all Jay, the owner, did a great job scheduling us around the bad weather and got us in before we had to go home. Then… we had an awesome day on the Great Barrier Reef with Sam Callum and Captain Jason!! Sam and Callum (both marine biologists) told us about all the sea life on our voyage out there. Then they both went in the water with us and pointed out the many wonderful sea creatures we would have not normally seen. With only 6 people per group it was like a private tour. We also got hot drinks, a morning pastry and lunch and cookies! To make our memories last longer, Sam sent me some of the close up photos and videos he took on his go pro. We definitely recommend ABC Snorkeling!! The small group made it the best. It is well worth a little extra expense. Would go again in a heartbeat

We had a fantastic day on the reef. I cannot recommend this company enough. We learnt so much and saw so many things. Callum was an exceptional guide. He went above and beyond to make our day amazing. Cannot thank the crew enough. We have ( many yrs ago) been on the “big” charter boat out to the reef - and looking back - it was underwhelming. I would recommend this tour to anyone. My teenage girls had a great time too.

Just an amazing experience! 2 marine biologists and our guides Sam & Callum were absolutely wonderful! All the information that we got about the reef and the fish and everything else was something we will cherish for life. Small group experience is the ONLY way to see the reef! The coolest experience I've had! The guides were knowledgeable, engaging, and very accommodating. The food on board is great - from a local cafe. There's beer and wine for purchase as well. They make sure you're gear is working - mask defogged and snug. They encourage you to ask for help anytime to ensure your experience is the best it can be. I felt very comfortable. And the reef..... you just have to see it for yourself.

What an amazing, personal day. Our boat was alone at the reef we went to. We went to 2 locations and spent about an hour at each one. Captain Todd and marine biologists Sam and Callum were knowledgeable about the marine life and reef. With only 11 people on the trip, we snorkeled in a small group of 6 with Sam as our guide. He made sure we all saw the fish, coral and giant clams. We even saw a shark!! They have vision-correcting face masks and personalized the gear we needed. When we were cold, they gave us a second wetsuit so we were more comfortable. It was absolutely worth the money for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Great Barrier Reef!

This is probably the best snorkeling experience you are going to get in Port Douglas. Is it pricey? Yes, but it's worth it. Three very knowledgable and extremely nice gentleman work on the boat and they are like peanut butter and jelly together. You want to feel like you're on a National Geographic show? Book this. You want to actually know what fish you see and how they behave in the water? Book this. Your guides attention to detail for every guest is extraordinary. They treat you like you're a family friend. The equipment you use is also COMFORTABLE, from the wet suits, masks, and fins. Also a plus, you want that sweet footage of the reef, fish and yourself? They got you covered with Go Pro's. Also a plus, the boat is covered so you're dry and out of the direct sun for the most part. They also provide snacks and a sandwich that were very tasty.

Don’t look anywhere else. Calum and Sam make the day truly remarkable! They are so fun, very knowledgeable, and make sure everything is taken care of. It was such a cool experience to have them out on the reef with us showing us animals that we would never have seen! It was worth every penny and we will definitely use them again!!

Sam, Callum, and Capt Jason crew were superb! This small charter is the best experience available by far. Special rovng access to the Great Barrier Reef meant our crew could pick a variety of spots to go based on conditions. In the ideal small groups (6 per guide, with only 12 total!) this experience was remarkable and incredibly personable. Sam, our small group guide, continuously shared his extensive marine biology knowledge on the fly as we snorkeled over coral lagoons and caverns always taking time to point out specific coral and fish species, take pictures and address all questions. Callum was equally helpful and we celebrated our experiences across the entire boat as we relished the fantastic day. Cheers to this phenomenal crew! This was a true lifetime experience we can't recommend highly enough!! Best Day Ever!!

Sam and crew were top notch! This charter is the only way go. Smaller watercraft gave us special access where bigger (party style) boats can't go. Having such a small group (6 per guide, with only 12 total) really made this experience remarkable. I posted a review on another website but realized I had not done one here. This was hands down the best trip I've done snorkeling. The 2 young marine biologists were exceptional as were the rest of the crew. We saw such beautiful, colorful fish and coral, it was just amazing. Even saw a shark (harmless) and a Turtle. These guys really know what they are doing and they care so much about the marine life and environment. Book this trip, you won't be sorry.

Our day on the reef was amazing. The 12 person tour with a marine biologist leading a group of 6 was first class. Our group leader Sam gave special attention to people who were nervous about snorkeling out at the reef. He provided them with swim noodles and towed them throughout day. The reef areas we snorkel were excellent condition with no bleaching, many fish, giant clams and abundant corals. Safety was the main concern for the staff. The staff took time to insure each persons mask, snorkel, and fins fit perfectly. They also gave special attention to those with mask fogging. Total time in the water was 3 hours, with about 3 hours transport to and from the reef, and 1 hour getting everyone fitted and suited up. Overall this was the best reef snorkel experience I have ever had.

Everything about this trip was amazing. Sam and Callum made sure that everyone was comfortable in the water and with their gear and they provided constant commentary in two hour long snorkeling sessions at two different sites. The snacks and lunch were great. And of course the Great Barrier Reef is incredible.
