Don Burgess is a colorful character who had a lot of good stories that brought the history of the town to life. Although this was not the first visit to Frederick for either of us, this tour provided an extensive background for what we already knew about the city and the area.

The guide did not show up: incredibly frustrating. I will never use the service again. Also I would like a refund

Civil War details about Frederick’s role in the war. Our guide, Don, was very knowledgeable and informative.

I booked the walking tour of Historic Frederick despite the fact that I live in the area and am already familiar with some of the history. I walked away feeling a lot more informed and entertained by Don who is a long time resident and fabulous tour guide.

Don is very knowledgeable and personable! It was only my husband and I on this tour. We had our own personal tour guide 😉 Enjoyed this tour. Allow extra time to walk the Carol Canal Park. Beautiful city!

Our tour guide was fantastic taking us through a 90-minute tour. What a charming town to see walking through and hearing details with our tour guide Don. He even gave us recommendations on some restaurants and places to hang out at night. We saw him at a local brewery and he was kind enough to walk us back to our Airbnb. It was a very safe place to visit at night and extremely clean. Very impressed. I will definitely come back to visit again.

I Don't want to have to tell your whole story about my visit. I don't mind answering questions, but I find these sorts of tell us a story. Things to be a pain

Thank you! Loved hearing the stories. Tried to follow with historical stuff.... But I'm a sucker for stories.

Don is a colorful storyteller with a sense of humor. His tour was intimate – like a (very knowledgeable) friend who takes you around their town and points out the cool bits, much of which you wouldn’t get from guide books and plaques. He integrates history, architecture, art, and contemporary life of Frederick. Don was super accommodating: I had a narrow window for the tour, and he made it happen with little advance notice (plus a generous, spontaneous tour by phone of Shepherdstown Battlefield from where I called him to set up the Frederick tour!).

The guide combined the history of Frederick with the Frederick of today. He talked a lot about Civil War characters and we saw several churches, banks, city hall, and other buildings. The tour is rather long, and there is a lot of standing. He was sometimes difficult to understand. I feel that the tour would be better if it was 60-90 minutes, rather than 2 hours.

Don did a great job making all 5 in our party ignore the rainy morning with his knowledge of history, storytelling and sense of humor. A thoroughly entertaining and educational experience.

It was good to learn a bit of Frederick's history. Having a guide just for the 4 of us was great. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Don does a good job condensing a lot of Civil War and general local history in this two hour tour. There we only two of us on our tour so we got to ask as many questions as we needed.

We appreciated the 90 minute format vs the two hour as publicized. Guide very informative as to history events and dates. Interesting stories of some buildings housing orphanages for 80 and 100 years up to 1946 and/or 1957. We found that the standing "times" were perhaps a bit much for us (we in our 70's) and so our guide did understand and we had brief moments of sitting on concrete steps and one area had some metal chairs.

Don Burgess was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Since it was a hot day, he took every opportunity to find shade and a place to sit when possible. And flexible enough to take advantage of a wonderful invitation to tour inside one of the historic Episcopal churches in Frederick. It was an unexpected treat for us all.

Don is very knowledgeable and a great storyteller. We saw parts of Frederick that we would not have stumbled upon on our own. Great intro to a town full of history!

This tour was a lively and eclectic tour of historic Frederick, covering aspects of history, architecture, art, and contemporary life. Mr. Burgess is an enthusiastic denizen of Frederick who loves his city and community.
