After having experienced the Cape Town Essentials tour with Justin, who was absolutely great and taught us so much about Cape Town’s history and local delicacies, we decided to hop on the Taste of Africa tour. This tour was completely different and very interesting. We learnt about Tanzanian food, and better, had a really good taste of it (delicious and so sweet!). We also shared Ethiopian food in a traditional way and explored its many different sides. Both in two completely different and really cool venues! Justin took us for a blind wine tasting of South African wines as well and we ended up tasting some very special gins in a hidden bar. When you are in Cape Town and if you are into food, make sure to hop on one of these tours as they are sooooo worth it!!!

Our family of 5 did the Cape Town Taste of Africa tour with Justin. The tour was excellent with a mixed range of African food & drinks. Justin was an excellent guide, with lot's of extra SA/Cape Town and food related history that really added to our experience.

A tour by a true local who knows the city intimately, Justin was a treasure trove of information, teaching us so much about the history and influences behind some incredibly tasty dishes. We had a blast following him around as he showed us some of the most delicious and culturally significant dishes to grace Cape Town. Can't recommend enough!

Wow! Truly an experience not to be missed. Justin did such a great job narrating and personalizing the tour so that our expectations were continuously exceeded at every stop. The perfect curation of independent restaurants, bakery, and wine shop rounded out our afternoon. Highly recommend starting your journey through South Africa with Cape Town Culinary tours as an introduction into the wonderful flavors and history. . It’s been almost a month and we are still talking about how great this tour was.

We loved it! I went with my husband and we really enjoyed it, everything was delicious and we learned a lot of history and interesting facts of Cape Town. Justin our guide was so kind and fun, and we thank him for sharing the love he has for his city and its food.

We enjoyed our tour and it was a great way to eat and learn about the different cultures in South Africa. The way the tour was oriented was for two bigger meals at two local restaurants, followed by a wine tasting and gin/chocolate tasting. We might have preferred to learn a bit more by stopping at more places and trying lots of different things instead of the big meals, but overall it was a tremendous experience and our guide was very helpful!

We are in agreement with all the other reviews ….Justin is AWESOME!!! It was just us with him and he made us feel like I stand friends! We had so much fun and had an awesome afternoon learning some Capetown and SA history while learning about the food and wine of this amazing country. Take the half day to spend with Justin….you won’t regret it! Also the communication with Elsje was very friendly and welcoming.

We had such a great experience with Justin as our guide. We booked this for the start of our trip to Cape Town so we could ‘get our bearings’ so to speak and get expert advice on places to visit (and avoid) for great food and drinks. We also wanted to experience great African cuisine and wines and learn more about the history, the people and the culture the area. Justin did not disappoint with his expert knowledge and engaging style. We learnt so much and it got our trip off to the ideal start

I had an amazing afternoon food tour with Elsje doing a Taste of Africa! Elsje was awesome and made the tour fun & informative. She gave great insight to the culinary scene in Cape Town and also gave me many recommendations to continue tasting great African Food! The food and drinks at all the stops were delicious and plentiful! I highly recommend this tour if you want a true insight into the Cape Town food scene!

This food tour uniquely combines delicious food with sightseeing. Elsje my wonderful host for the tour provided not only super interesting insights about the different food and its culture but also has a vast knowledge about cape town. It was a real pleasure and a privilege to have such a splendid tour guide. As an advice - do not eat anything before the tour there is a lot to eat and a pity if you would miss anything.

I requested a tour as a surprise for my wife the day before and although the tours were not being run due to Covid, our guide Elsje made the arrangements and took us on a private tour which was amazing. Walking through the city with her and her wealth of knowledge about Cape Town and experiencing the interesting food in restaurants which we normally would not have known about was a great choice. My only advice to other travellers is to go on this journey hungry! The food portions are very generous.

We loved our food and drink safari with Justin.He is a really interesting guy and took us to some amazing African restaurants that we would never have thought to go to.Fantastic food, coffee,gin and chocolate. What’s not to like!!! As well as the terrific food and drink we enjoyed talking with Justin about Cape Town and its history. All in all a great and memorable day

This food safari is really the best way to discover the inner city of Cape Town. Elsje (a great tour guide!) brings you to truly hidden gems, with great food and drinks, off the beaten track. Between places, she shows you the city and educates you about its history. Would recommend it to those who prefer to discover the places where locals eat and meet, rather than the fancy restaurants where all tourists go.

This was one of the best food tours we have been on. Food was amazing and a lot of it. Our tour guide, Ellie, was a great guide and very knowledgable. We learned lots about the restaurants and had great interaction with the people that worked at them. Good variety of food. So full afterwards! Highly recommend!!
