Expotur was amazing. If you do this trek, do it with Expotur! Our guide, Diego, and our translator , Andre, were both fantastic. Knowledge, patient, attentive and fun - everything you could ask for. Diego has been guiding this trek for 19 years and was born along the river you will swim in. Expotur is very respectful of the local farmers and the indigenous peoples of these mountains. You are on their land so don’t go with a company that does not make respect of the indigenous people a priority. Expotur also has its own camp closest to the lost city (and nicer than the one other companies use) making the trip up the third day a bit easier. Lastly, our guide and translator were always at the front and back of our group (even though people were allowed to walk at their own pace in between). And the faster folks waited for the slower folks at the snack spots so we were a more cohesive group than others. One hiker from another tour company had gotten separated from her group and hadn’t seen them for a couple hours (so she walked with us). That would never happen with Expotur. This was a challenging trek in challenging conditions, but we had a fabulous experience.

Absolutely amazing experience. The trek was stunning with beautiful views all the way to the Lost City. The accommodation were surprisingly comfortable for being in the middle of the jungle. Thanks to Joel, the dishes were well prepared and the portions were generous. Enrique, our main guide was very kind and had an impressive knowledge of the area, his life also gave us a great insight of the Colombian history of the region. Isidro, our translator was 10/10 and his laugh and happiness were contagious. We loved it despite being it a medium to hard trek and the unlucky stomach bug. I would definitely recommend it to any adventurer!

Wonderful trip with a great group. Macario, Samuel and Orlando were very friendly, informative and accommodating. Vegetarian meals were better than expected. I’m always hesitant with any treks that require guides but it really was the Best case scenario.

We chose to do the trek with expotours cause we had heard amazing things about them, and it was the best decision we made!! Sixto (guide), Pilar (translator) and Jesus (cook) gave us the best experience beyond imagination. They all had amazing energy and good vibes throughout the whole trip. Whenever we made it through a tough part, woke up in the morning or just had a swim in the river etc. they met us with the best energy and team spirit. Always with high-fives and big smiles and cheering us on the keep pushing. Sixto had great knowledge because he grew up in a village in the jungle, this made the experience even more intimate and interesting. He was great at answering all of our questions and even though he was a little sick, he truly pushed through and made sure we still had the best experience. Pilar was always smiling and complementing us, and generally just spread so much positivity and tied the group together. She was a great translator and she could also answer all of our questions. Jesus made amazing food all 4 days, even with fresh juice and a little dessert every time. 10/10. There were always fruits for snacks and my favorite hot chocolate!! I am so grateful for these amazing people and I wish I could spend more time with them. This experience will stay with me forever and a big thanks to Sixto, Pilar and Jesus. Without them the trip would have looked completely different. We saw other groups with guides who looked tired and not interested in the tour at all, so I’m really happy with how our trip turned out. I’m not sure if I would have had the same energy and courage throughout all 4 tough, sweaty and hard days! We were also really lucky to only be 5 people in our group, I feel like I made great connections with everyone and visiting the lost city on day 3 with such a small group was incredible.

I highly recommend using Expotour for this trek. From the food, the accommodations, the history, and the Expotour workers. Dennis (guide) and Jose R (translator) were absolutely amazing. They were personable, funny, and knowledgeable. They made the trek an unforgettable experience! If you are going on the Lost City trek you will not regret going with Expotour (and Dennis and Jose R)!

Absolutely incredible trip, and best trek I’ve ever done. After trekking with the other tour companies, I can confidently say Expotur is far superior to the others. On top of that, Dennis (our guide) and Jose (translator) were incredible. Super knowledgeable, caring, and super easy going, but also funny and totally made the trip. Pollo, the chef, made stunning meals the entire time. I cannot recommend Dennis, Jose, and Pollo enough. Best guides and trek of my life.

We had the best time at our tour to the lost city. Besides the amazing landscape, it was so interesting to see and learn about the history of the indigenous tribes here. From the beginnig till the end of the Tour our Guide Antonio and our Translator Eli were always giving us information about our next steps and also telling us a lot about the region and the people, always happy to answer all the quesions. They were both very nice and we had a lot of fun with them. Depending on were we where they gave us information about the farmers region of the sierra nevada and their violent past, about the indigenous tribes and their lifestyle or the history about how the lost city was build, lost and found again. The food was a good amount and always very good. Thru the trekking path they had snacks prepared for us, like fruits or cake. Thanks so much to our great cook Kunga. The camps were pretty comfy and always had the river near by to take a swim and thanks to the low season there were not many people so we never had to get in line to use the showers. Altough the rain made our way back a lot harder it was such a fun adventure! We were a small group of 7 People, who had very different tempos of walking. Most of the time Eli went in the front with the faster people and Antonio always stayed behind to be sure that everybody was safe. Our group was awesome and we had a good time together. All in all we can recommend it 100% and would definitly do it again... after some relaxation because it was tough for us :D

Amazing tour, very worth the money. Our guide Cesar was incredibly knowledgeable, Cesar has walked this route 800+ times, so he knew everything. Our translator Aldair did a great job of translating everything Cesar was saying, I do not speak much Spanish, but I understood everything thanks to Aldair. Cesar and Aldair were always with us on the trek, they gave us advice on how to safely walk the difficult parts of the trail. Cesar and Aldair also took photos for the group, and helped us to identify many of the unique animals in the area. Our cook Ledys made us an excellent breakfast everyday. Ledys walked ahead of us to make sure we had a delicious hot lunch and dinner before we arrived at each stop. I am a coffee addict, Ledys made sure I had plenty of coffee and hit chocolate every day. The whole team César, Aldair and Ledys were amazing, I highly recommend them

It's been a few days and I'm still at a loss for words on how to describe this adventure. In a nutshell it was one of the best experiences in my life. The trek itself is reasonably challenging especially so in in April when dry season turns to wet, but not terribly so. On the way we sweated from the heat and humidity, got soaked in the tropical rain and hiked through a muddy stream where the trail was a day ago. But the payoff was jumping of the cliff into a natural pool with a waterfall, swimming in the fountain of youth, and of course the lost city, where the indiginous, to this day, perform their rituals. Our guide Jhoan and translator Carlos were both absolutely amazing, Jhoan's knowledge of the local history and the indiginous people the trek so much more interesting. The camps to stay the night are all very civilized with proper bathroom and showers facilities, beds with moscito nets and even ability to do laundry. Food was varied, tasty and plentiful for the amount of physical excersion, kudos to our cook Freddy! And of course the fact the we had a fantastic bunch of people in our group made the whole experience so much more memorable. Last but not least, the ladies at Expotur office were very helpful and always replied promptly to my emails. To summarize, if you like to hike, do this one!

I wasn't sure what to expect from the tour, but I've always wanted to see the Lost City and learn about the rare indigenous cultures in Colombia. The experience turned out to be even better than I could have imagined. The trail was physically challenging at some points, so being in good shape is important to fully enjoy it. However, our guide Johan was patient and helpful for anyone who needed assistance during the hike. I saw other groups rushing through the trail, spending only 50 minutes at the Lost City before hurrying back. But because of our guide, we took our time to enjoy everything at our own pace, seeing things other groups hadn't seen and learning about the history of the area and how it became a tourist attraction. The story is quite violent, but it has a beautiful ending with tourists now supporting the region. Johan speaks some English, but it was easier for me to understand everything through Carlos, our translator. He not only translated, but also provided extra information to help me better understand local situations. He was friendly and uplifting, adding to the positive spirit of the group. On the last day, I found out that the chefs were hiking with us too. They hiked the same route but arrived before us to prepare lunch and dinner when we arrived at the next camp. Our chef, Freddy, cooked delicious and energy packed meals that were perfect for the hike. Overall, this trip had everything I was looking for and even more that I couldn't have imagined. I highly recommend Expotour, and I'm confident I made the right choice by choosing them. This experience will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, guys, for everything!
