Our trip to Kilimanjaro was 4 years in the making and Chiefs Tours supported us the entire time up until a difficult decision but there is summit in our future and I can’t wait to do it with chiefs! 4 years ago I watched a video about climbing Kili and decided it was something I wanted to do. I started reaching out to a few well reviewed companies and Chiefs tours was the most responsive and reasonably priced. Our planning got interrupted by some surgeries and covid but the entire time adidas (owner/operator of chiefs) always was responsive and willing to adjust with our schedule. We finally made it a reality this December. We were greeted at the airport after realizing one of our bags didn’t make it. Adidas took our lost baggage ticket and said this was his problem now. Ended up our bag went on to Zanzibar and adidas had it back at our lodge later that night! The lodge we stayed at (kilele) was comfortable and perfect for before and after our climb. We were served wonderful food and drinks by cheerful and helpful staff. That day, adidas and our guides met us at the lodge to discuss our climb and answer any of our final questions. They checked our gear to ensure we had what we would need to be successful. The next morning the team took us to pick up some gear we were renting and to get the porters and head to the market to get the supplies we would need. We booked a 6 day lemosho route. Our fitness level is pretty high and we ski at altitude so felt this was a good fit for us. Day 1 was hiked almost entirely in rain, given it was still part of the rainy season and we were in the rain forest zone. This wasn’t a surprise. A failure in our dry bag however caused my wife’s clothes and her sleeping bag to get wet. Unfortunately even with the best effort of our guides and porters we weren’t able to get things dried out and after a night at Shira II where it was colder we made the difficult decision to turn back. Our guides (Jackson and frank) and porters tried everything they could to allow us to continue on but ultimately supported our decision to hike back and made all the arrangements for us to do this. The entire team works so hard to make sure you are taken care of and happy and they take such pride in their work. It is infectious. Our meals prepared by Jeff were wonderful and mindful of the kind of food we needed for each day. Every night our health was checked and we discussed what the next day would entail. We are already discussing with chiefs coming back to finish what we started in 2024, so you can see how confident we are in this company and its dedicated employees. I highly recommend chiefs for your kilininjaro climb!

Chiefs tours was recommended to me by one of my close friends who also climbed Kilimanjaro back in 2021. I could not say enough as of how incredible this experience was and how Chiefs tours made it even more epic. The owner Adidas was quick to provide quotes on time, explain throughly what to expect during the trek, provide a list of what we needed to pack before our trip and an easy way to pay for the tour before we headed to Tanzania. Once we landed in Kilimanjaro, they were quick to get our details for pick up. The entire trip was door to door service, they picked us up from our hotel in Arusha and dropped us off back at the airport when we finished. While we were in Moshi they provided a very comfortable stay that included drinks and food, a comfortable bed, hot water and WiFi. We did the 7 day trek via Lemosho route. For our trek they got us the best guides and crew. We had 10 people for 2 of us hikers (right?!). Yes, you need this many people to get you up and down a mountain in 7 days. The crew was incredible, they made sure we had our tent set up before we got to every stop, they had a sleeping tent and a dining tent just for us. We had our own chef/cook Jeff who was incredible, his food was heavenly and he always made sure we were over fed with the appropriate food for the hike :) Oh, and the guides - Jackson and Calvin - I can't say enough great things about them. They were the coolest and nicest guides. Very well prepared, they have climbed that mountain more times that they can count. They made sure we always had clear what the game plan was and we were taken care of. They also pushed us to reach summit when we felt like altitude was taking our souls away and made sure we understood what to expect at every step. Make sure you ask for them and Jeff when you book your trekking. I highly recommend Chiefs tours to anyone who would like to climb Kili with a solid company who will make your experience that much greater. From the moment we arrived at the lodge, everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. The day we left for the mountain, the crew took their time to ensure all of our gear was adequate and that we had everything we needed. The entire crew went above and beyond the whole time to make sure we were safe, well fed (the food was absolutely AMAZING), hydrated, and of course enjoying the experience. They kept a manageable pace for us during the hikes to ensure we could manage it and I’m really proud to say that I made it to the top! I honestly would have not been able to make it if it wasn’t for the guides. Not only were they carrying everything but they were also encouraging without pushing too far and also mentally prepared is every night for what was coming the following day. I would recommend Chief Tours for anyone considering this experience. They’ll do their best to make sure your probabilities of success are as high as possible and we’ll do everything to give you the best experience possible.

After much research online, we finally decided to go with Chiefs Tours. I think we couldn’t have done a better choice. Thank you Adidas for putting together an unforgettable adventure for us! We (my boyfriend and I) did a 6-day Kilimanjaro trek up the Machame route and then a 3-day Safari. Adidas was always very helpful in answering all our questions before arrival. He is also very experienced and often anticipated our needs better than ourselves. The extra days before and in between we stayed at Kilele lodge where we were very well taken care of. Adidas made sure we had an amazing experience all the way and even came to say farewell to us at the airport. - Kilimanjaro – Machame route 6 days: 10 out of 10! We are so glad we found Chiefs Tours and Adidas. Adidas put together the best team to help us up to the top of the mountain. The team of ten (2 mountain guides, 1 chef, 1 waiter, and 6 porters) solved everything so well. The food was great and with the encouraging words and support from our amazing guides, Washingtone and Elias, we made it to Uhuru peak. The team adapted well to our needs and possibilities, and we always felt safe with them. Thank you so much for making this such a memorable experience. - Safari 3 days – Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Manyara: 9 out of 10! It is hard to top the Kilimanjaro trek, but Adidas organized a great 3-day safari for us. We were introduced to our safari guide who stayed with us for three days. We stayed at a nice lodge where we also had dinner and breakfast. We also got a lunch box to eat in the national park (fighting of the monkeys). For three days we visited three different national parks and saw the big five and the big seven! Big thanks to our safari guide for sharing his knowledge and driving us around.

I started researching my Kilimanjaro trip a while back, spoke to more than 10 company’s and ended up selecting Chief Tours. Adidas was quick to respond and answered all my questions. A few reasons why I chose chief tours. They were flexible with my schedule as I wasn’t sure of the exact date I would arrive due to my working schedule. Chief tours was best value I found for a solo private tour. A late decision from my friend to join the trip, made two in total. I had been training for a year and wanted to push myself to complete the hike as quickly as possible, I needed a tour company and team to work with me on my time scale. 4 days. We arrived in Moshi - Adidas met us at the airport and took us to the hotel, checked in around 11pm. The next morning we met the team and packed up our gear heading off to Kilimanjaro. Our team of 12 was unbelievable, two guides, 1 chef, 1 waiter, 8 porters lugged all of the equipment around and catered to our every needs. We pushed the team as I wanted to go fast skipping camp sites to make long days of hiking in order to make a faster ascent. The team did more than keep up they pushed even harder to make sure they got to the camp site first and set up. Very impressive what these guys do. Our guide where excellent, good English and very knowledgeable on route explaining the mountain to us. The food was wonderful exactly what you want on the mountain and plenty of it. I don’t know how they do it! Thanks chef! I am a vegan they catered to my dietary requirements. On arrival back we celebrated with the team, singing dancing and a few beers! Adidas had our luggage ready and his driver take us to Arusha shortly after. We had an incredible trip that was made possible due to this tour company and their team. I highly recommend them for anyone who want to complete the mountain quicker that what you find online or if your like me and need flexibility with your trip. These guy work with your schedule. Me and my girlfriend used Chiefs tour when we arranged our trip to Tanzania. From start to end they were Amazing and helped us with everything. The trip to Kilimanjaro were really nice and both our tourguide (Washington) and his crew were great and the food was amazing as well! Afterwards we went on a 4 days safari tour and had an amzing time and saw alot of animals. We had read so many Swedes who praised Chief´s Tours and we got a fantastic treat! The company really does everything, both for us guests and takes responsibility for its staff. The guides were incredibly talented which created complete security with us. It is important when meeting young people who are forced to interrupt the hike. I am 61 years old and had a great guide. Thank you ! All the porters were so nice and we appreciated talking to them when we had the energy. The same was true of safari. Our guide was so committed to seeing as many animals as possible. In early spring 2019 me, my boyfriend and his mother decided to climb Kilimanjaro and go on Safari in September 2019. When we started to plan our trip and we stumbled over the local company Chiefs Tour. They had fantastic recommendations and they also had fair salaries and good conditions for all staff members as well, which was a really important thing for us. We decided to reach out to Chiefs Tour and after a short conversation with the owner of the company, Adidas, we decided to go with them on our big adventure. Before our departure we had a lot of questions and Adidas was extremely helpful and he always replied us quickly and with good information. The 21st of September we arrived at Kilimanjaro Airport, were we was picked up by a driver from Chiefs Tour, Frank. We got a nice welcoming and he drove us straight to Chiefs Tour Office in Moshi Town where we got to meet Adidas and our guides for our Kilimanjaro climb. The first thing they did was to check all our packing to make sure we had the right equipment for our climb. And after a short talk about how our 7 days on the mountain will be Frank drove us to our hotel for the night. The hotel was great, a nice roof top bar and clean and good rooms. The 22nd of September we started our 7 days trekking tour. We had 12 porters, 2 guides and 1 chef with us. I am so impressed of the porters who carried all of our packing, food and tents. They were always happy, pushed us and run ahead of us every day to make sure that our packing and tents was ready for us when we reached the camps. The chef cooked us fantastic hot meals every day. We are vegetarians but that was not a problem at all, they served different food every day and we was really impressed of how delicious food you can cook on a mountain. And last but not least, our guides - Washington and Fredrick was with us all the time and made sure that we were alright. They were very experienced and have climbed the mountain hundreds of times. We felt 100% safe with them and they always took smart decision that in the long run helped us a lot. At sunrise the 28th of September, after an 8 hours night walk, we reached the summit and it was absolutely the most amazing thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’m still very thankful to everyone in the crew – without them this wouldn’t have been possible. THANK YOU once again, I’ll be forever grateful. After we climbed Kilimanjaro, we went on a 4-days Safari. We had an excellent guide here as well, Deli. He was everything we wished for from a guide. Calm, had a lot of knowledge and contacts in the national parks that made our days a memory for life. We managed to see four out of five in the big five the first day. The first night we stayed at a luxury hotel that was really nice. The last two nights we slept in Tented Camp inside Serengeti National Park. To stay in Tented Camps can at first seems a bit frightening but I strongly recommend you do it. I will never forget when I opened the tent one morning and 20 zebras stood five meters from our tent. To summarize this long review of Chiefs Tour as a company I would strongly recommend you to go with them. I’m sure you will have the time of your life them! While in Moshi, I stumbled across Chiefs Tours while looking for a group to climb Kilimanjaro. I got a great price offer, got to see the equipment instantly, and met my guide. Adidas, the owner, and his wife, Upendo, were both very responsive and helpful. My guide Allen was everything and more I could have wished for in a professional and experienced guide - and possibly saved my life. I'm very happy I chose Chiefs Tours for my 5 day Lemosho "sprint", and would recommend to anyone in the future!

We recently went up Kilimanajaro with Chief Tours in 7 days using the Machame Route. It was an incredible experience and Chief Tours could not have done anything better. We were able to hire all of the equipment we needed at no extra cost, the food was incredible and everything was organised perfectly. However, the best part of the experience was how friendly and encouraging the staff were from the porters through to the guides, we could not have made it to the top without their help, encouragement or singing!

We choosed Chief Tours based on recommendations found on different forums and the experience with the company was great. A 7-days Machame Route to the summit of Kilimanjaro and a 4-days safari were the activities both performed with Chief Tours. The communication with Adidas and the staff was great from start to finish. Planning, payment, gear rentals and accommodation was all excellent. A driver from Chief Tours picked us up from the airport and we met the team an hour later for planning and assuring that all gears was packed until the next day when the journey began. The next morning, the trip was initiated by kick-off songs with Adidas, our two experienced guides, one chef and eleven porters before heading of to the mountain. The hiking went good, the guides was very calm and experienced in how to optimize tempo etc. for the three of us in the best way to reach the summit. Every day we got fantastic vegetarian food, 3 courses to breakfast, lunch and dinner with variation and surprises on what you can cook on a mountain. The porters were fantastic the whole week, they were running with all the packing in a pace that was not even comparable with our speed just to prepare all the tents and food until we reached the camps. All of us reached the summit thanks to the whole team who helped out in every necessary way to make us achieve the goal. In the next morning, we were picked up by our safari guide, Deli. He’s only 25 years of age but full of knowledge, experience and social connections out on the savannah. The first hour he was able to find 4/5 animals out of the Big Five in Tarangire National Park. After spending the first day there, we spent the night at a lodge with excellent quality accommodation and food. The next three days was spent in Ngorogoro and Serengeti National Parks by sleeping in tented camps in the savannah. The whole trip was excellent with Deli as a guide, preparations with a great car, accommodation and food. Except from our much appreciated tours, the trust in Adidas and the company was very valuable in our experience. Adidas met us before, between and after the tours to make sure that we were happy and got the best out of the journey. I do strongly recommend Chief Tours for everyone. We researched many of the local companies and chose Chief Tours because - owned by a local ex guide who support local communities and have experienced local staff. Our chief guide Washington had been to the summit nearly 200 times and could respond to rapidly changing conditions. The support staff of 38 for our group of 13 were extremely caring and responsive. Safety was paramount and we took 7 days to all summit and descend via Mauchame route. Equipment was reasonable and costs less than equivalent competitors - so very good value and personal service. Construction feedback is to make the details of the tip system more explicit and transparent. All the staff deserve enormous respect and we are grateful for a once in a lifetime experience.

My colleagues and I completed the Machame Route in 6 days with Chief Tours. The service they provide is excellent, from fully kitting out one of my colleagues who had nothing with her, to the airport transfers at 2am, to the amazing food before, during and after the climb. For the actual climb our guides Julius, Kunda and Joseph were amazing and ensured we were all happy and healthy the entire time. The rest of the staff who came with us were also incredible, making sure we were well looked after at all times. From Zero waking us up in the morning with tea in our tents, to arriving at the next campsite and the porters having everything already set up. I thoroughly enjoyed my Kilimanjaro climb (made even better by reaching the summit!!) and would highly recommend doing it with Chief Tours. With them you have nothing to worry about as they will do their utmost to sort everything for you. Adidas also ensured we were well taken care of for our whole time in Moshi and also arranged for us to go the Kikuletwa Hotsprings once we were back down from the mountain. I am a solo female traveler and I decided a day before that I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro. I walked around Moshi to a few companies and came across Chief Tours after I heard from a freelance porter that it was a good company. I was obviously cautious of climbing the mountain alone, but the owner, Adidas, reassured me by answering all my questions and giving me a lot of advice. I did not have any warm clothes/equipment/gear but Chief Tours have their own rental shop where you can get everything you need. I met the guide and he, as well as the AMAZING staff at Chief Tours (especially Stella), helped me pick out all the clothes and things I needed for the climb. I thought they packed too many clothes, but I wore EVERYTHING! I was so utterly thankful that they knew exactly what I needed. Also, the equipment they have is of good quality as well as being in good condition. Overall the Kili climb was good and I managed to successfully reach the top! I stayed at Adidas' B&B after the hike and was warmly greeted by his lovely wife Upendo and their adorable children. Their hospitality was absolutely ASTOUNDING! Not only did they give me a place to stay for a few days but they always made sure that I was fed. I also got a few cultural experiences where I was lucky enough to go with Adidas to a community dinner and also given an opportunity to go with his family to a birthday party. The day after the hike, he also organised a tour to the beautiful Materuni waterfalls. Adidas is super kind and generous. He made sure I always had everything I needed. He also took me to the airport at 4:30am! As a female solo traveler, I always felt safe and in good hands during my time in Moshi and on Kilimanjaro. Chief Tours really exceeded my expectations hence this long review! I am so grateful to Chief Tours for everything and I definitely want to come back to Moshi to visit Adidas and his wonderful family.

It’s been two weeks since we finished our Kilimanjaro trip, plenty of time to properly digest the experience. We chose Chief’s Tours after we compared several companies on our day of arrival in Moshi. They were friendly, helpful and transparent in their offer, so we decided to give it a go with them. We opted for the 7-day Machame route and were picked up early next morning. They had plenty of equipment for hire, which was in good condition and they made sure we had everything we needed. Everything was well organised and we reached the gate to the national park in time and without any further problems. Nicholaus, our guide, took perfect care of us and before we knew it, we had already reached the first camp. I do not want to focus on any of the hiking or the Kilimanjaro itself, since everybody who goes on this adventure, has probably done their homework. Chief’s Tours provides a well-functioning infrastructure and you get what you pay for. No unnecessary luxury, but against this background very good food, at no point did we lack anything we needed and the whole team was really friendly and helpful. This is exactly, what we wanted! Nicholaus did a fantastic job as our guide, never urged us on, never hurried us (pole, pole) and was always up for a good chat. It was the first time we did a guided tour and we were worried, that it could be a bit awkward with a guide but our worries were unnecessary. Never ever did we feel uncomfortable. To put the cherry on the top of the cake we successfully summited on the 19th of August at 6:20 am. At this point, I would like to point out that - especially on summit day – Nicholaus did a great job supporting and guiding us. His huge experience was valuable in detecting our needs and with good spirit he brought us through the cold (really cold) night all the way up. If you guys decide to go for Chief’s Tours as well (something I strongly recommend) ask for Nicholaus as your guide! I’m pretty sure, you won’t regret it.

We were strolling around town to join some Kilimanjaro tour for the next day. Even before we knew that we wanted to take 7 days and they hooked us up with 2 other guys who were in for a 6 day trip and organized our stay accordingly to our wishes. Already before booking we felt really convinced by their equipment and their professionalism. On the same day, we met the guide (Nicolaus - awesome dude!) and he went with us to our hostel in order to check our equipment. On the very next day we got picked up and got some missing gear from the travel agency and started off to the Kilimanjaro. We both summited and had great fun with Nicolaus and the crew of porters. They made sure that we were feeling well and especially the guide really knew his duties - he adjusted the speed so that we basically did not get out of breath and on summit night he really was a big help to ultimately reach the summit - who would have thought that a singing guide really does help? I didnt - and it did! so: go there - ask for nicolaus!

Chief’s Tours went beyond expectations and really took care of us during our Kilimanjaro trek. We spoke to the guys in charge directly and they were very professional. Everything went accordingly and the trekking crew was the bomb. I couldn’t have made it to the top if not for my guides Frank and Emmanuel. The cook must’ve been a contestant on iron chef cuz he cooked up some badass meals and the porters are straight beasts carrying all that weight up the mountain. Thank you guys for a successful summit!

We had a great experience climbing Kilimanjaro with chiefs tours. The guides were awesome and really helped us to be able to reach Uhuru. And the food was great as well. They communication with Adidas, the owner, was always easy and fast. Highly recommended!

Myself and my two friends have just completed our successful summit of Kilimanjaro today. It was a wonderful experience. Chief’s Tours looked after our every need from beginning to end. Our guides Washington and Nicholas were exemplary in their concern and care and involved us in every decision which had to be made regarding timing, route etc. They were also very informative about the landscape and the environment. On summit night when we were finding the going very tough they literally took us by the hand- without them we would not have made it. The team of porters left nothing for us to do. We didn’t need to be concerned for our luggage or indeed our general wellbeing. After summiting they even set up the tents for us to have a quick snooze on the way down. ‘Spider man’, our chef was brilliant and the food was excellent in its standard and variety. Thank you to Adidas and all his team for giving us the experience of a lifetime. I couldn’t recommend Chief’s Tours any higher.
