Amazing 5-day Safari with Meru Slopes, I didn't expect so much. Perfectly organised, delicious meals prepared by our chef Joana. Despite the rainy season, we were lucky with the weather and our guide Florian was excellent. We were able to see lots of animals, and take as much time as we wanted to observe them. As I was travelling alone, I joined a group, which made the experience all the better. The price is clearly worth it!

Our experience with Meru Slopes was wonderful. They took care very well of us, and our guide Patrick was great! He was smiley and very hakuna matata. He never stopped looking for new animals to show us and take pictures to. You can tell he really loves nature. Many thanks to Meru Slopes for organizing such a lovely experience šŸ¦“šŸ¦’šŸ¦

I had a 5 days safari tour in February 2024, Tarangire, 3 days in Serengeti and last day in Ngorongoro crater. It was one of the best tour I have ever experienced, Meru Slopes was perfectly organised, very easy to comunicate with them for the organisation and everything, during the tour the guide was very confident and ready to help with everything. We had an unforeseen in the Ngorongoro but they were very good to reorganise my trip. I really recommend them for an unforgettable safari experience

We had an absolutely incredible 5 days on safari through Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro areas. Mudy was our driver and we got to see some amazing wildlife and very scenic areas. I think we saw every type of wildlife we had wanted. Really appreciate Meru Slopes for planning and operating our safari. Would highly recommend.

The 5 days trip in Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Tarangire was breathtaking. This was mostly thanks to the skilled driving of Jacobo and the amazing local food prepared by Salimu. We managed to see from up close many animals, way more than we expected including cheetahs, lions, buffalos, elephants and their respective cubs. We were told we were lucky to encounter some of them, even more multiple times. My take is that the mix of the skilled driving, knowledge of the quicker ways to go around and Jacobo network to have the news and sighting before any radio announcement made it possible in all the locations. He was like a Waze/Google Maps for the all trip on top on top of instilling a great mood in the group. I also took the opportunity to go for a one day trip to Materuni falls and experience homemade coffee making on the coffee tour with Fidelis. He was very helpful on any question I asked since he is originally from a city not far from the falls location. We even interacted in French on top of the usual English. Big props to Meruslopes and Geofrey for their constant quick availability on any organizational topic ! If you want to have a real adventure experience, I cannot recommend better than them.

Meru Slopes was excellent to work with to set up my 5 day safari. I wanted to customize some aspects of my safari so had quite a few requests (specific start date, wanted to join a group despite being a solo traveler, upgraded lodging, etc) and emailed >10 different companies for quotes and options. Meru Slopes got back to me quickly and put together several different quotes and options based on what I was looking for. They were the only company who actually was able to make an itinerary that fit what I wanted and it ended up being very reasonably priced. The safari itself was excellent. My guide was Salehe and he has been doing this for over a decade. His expertise is obvious - he helped out multiple other drivers when they got stuck but we never had any issues whatsoever with our car and I felt very safe and comfortable with his driving. We also were able to see all of the Big 5 along with countless other species. Salehe was the first guide to spot quite a few animals including two rhino in Ngorongoro Crater, which can be one of the harder animals to find. We got amazing pictures to the point where a random person sitting next to me on the plane ride home was in awe of my lion, giraffe, and elephant photos. Our chef Buga was also great and was able to easily accommodate one member of our group who was vegetarian while making delicious food for everyone. I was able to pay for my safari with credit card the day before the trip started, which was important to me as I did not want to travel across the world with thousands of dollars in cash. Not all companies allow this; in fact a fellow traveler almost had to cancel his safari as he was unaware that his company only accepted cash. I ended up having an extra full day at the end of my time in Tanzania and actually messaged the owner of Meru Slopes to set up a coffee/waterfall tour. He got back to me that same night and a guide was waiting for me at my hotel the next am at 7:30. Again, my guide Herman was fantastic - he was engaging and shared a lot about Tanzanian culture and day to day life that I hadn't learned. He also stopped and picked up street corn as well as getting local bananas for me to try. He helped me with some of the slippery spots on the waterfall hike and additionally brought my luggage into the airport for me. Overall Meru Slopes went above and beyond with everything I asked for. Their guides were excellent at what they do and clearly some of the best in the business. I would not hesitate to use them again and plan to recommend Meru Slopes for any of my friends traveling to Tanzania in the future.

We are writing this review while we are still being stunnded and out of words by all the breathtaking impressions we collected during this amazing safari trip with the best guide, Jacob, and the best cook, Salim, that you could wish for. But let's start in the beginning: We had some contact via e-mail while still back home in Germany and Geoffrey answered all of our many questions super friendly and reliably. Upon arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport the day, everything was taken care of and the transport from the airport to the hostel was organized perfectly. The next day the safari adventure began. The experiences are to manifold to describe them all: We saw lion cubs and elephant families with almost newborns in Tarangire, spotted not only one but 5 Rhinos in Ngorongoro, came close to cheetahs, lions, giraffes, zebras, hippos and so many more in Serengeti and enjoyed every minute of driving from one national park to the next one within gorgeous landscapes. It was the perfect balance: While having amazing safari days with many game drives and a lot of amazing adventures (Jacob, our guide, managed to get us close to 3 cheetahs right after it had rained and the terrain was difficult!), we always felt safe and reassured - with Jacob as our very competent guide as well as skilled driver and Salim preparing delicious authentic meals, we were in the best hands! Jacob and Salim made this adventure an unforgettable one. Jacob was not only a skilled and experienced driver, knowledgeable guide and master in spotting animals, he also is the most kind and helpful person who will always manage to put a smile on your face. Salim prepared great authentic breakfasts, lunches and dinners and made us feel at home with his genuine warm and humorous kindness. We can fully recommend booking the safari tour with Meru Slopes and we are more than happy that especially Jacob and Salim made it possible for us to experience this amazing journey. Thank you for everything - asante sana! :)

This safari was perfect from start to finish. Even before booking, the Meru Slopes team was on hand with help and advice, so that everything was very easy to organize. We were lucky to have a great tour guide and driver in Jacob. His expertise and safe driving gave us the opportunity to drive roads that most others avoided. This allowed us to see a spectacular number of animals, including the Big 5 of course. He knew the answer to every question we had. Although he worked day and night, he was always very friendly and funny and made the whole group feel at ease. Jacob is an incredibly smart, likeable and nice person. We were also very lucky with Salim, the cook. He cooked us fresh and varied meals every day and the food was delicious. If you are looking for a unique experience with adventure, animals and breathtaking scenery, this is the place for you.

This was the experience of a lifetime. Geoffrey from Meru Slopes helped organize our tour and provided clear details of the itinerary and getting transportation and accommodation setup. My tour guide was Jakob who was a very smart, kind, and hard working guide. He knew exactly where to find all the animals and we saw lions, cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, zebras and many more. We even got to see a lion with a fresh zebra dinner after his hunt. Jakob was also an extremely good driver able to navigate through all the tough terrain, even going through areas other tour guides didnā€™t want to so we could see the best animals. We saw cheetahs when no one else could because of the rain due to Jakobs highly skilled driving. And most importantly, Jakob had a great personality keeping our group smiling along the way. We also had a chef that toured with us and made us breakfast, lunch, dinner and helped setup our camp sites. Salim made delicious meals fresh meals that tasted so good and always filled us up. He was also very friendly and the way he served the meals made the experience feel very authentic and homey. If youā€™re looking for an amazing affordable safari experience and comfortable with camping, I highly recommend Meru Slopes. Iā€™ll definitely be coming back. Hakuna Matata!

A wonderful safari with Meru Slopes Tours! This is actually my second safari with Meru Slopes and both times it was great. I did a 5 day tour with Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. I went in December when the grasses become greener and taller. We were able to spot the animals just the same! It was a great safari and the Serengeti was not very crowded. Ngorongoro crater was absolutely beautiful! Our driver was Robert and he is amazing. Please get Robert. He cares so much about the experience and is very knowledgeable with the animals, both birds and mammals of the parks. Geofrey was so helpful in setting up my tour. He is kind and very accommodating. When I return I will go with Meru Slopes for sure!

We did a five day group safari tour as above, but visiting Maasai was not part of our arranged itinerary. Nuru was our excellent guide. He was friendly, well informed, answered all our questions and looked after us well. Rasheed was the cook. The food was always plentiful and tasty. I was well catered for as a vegetarian. The whole experience was really special, with Ngorongoro crater being a highlight. If you are looking for a good, reliable company with great staff, then Meru Slopes is a perfect choice. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

We booked a 5 day safari with Meru slopes tours & safaris with a group of friends. From the day we booked until our arrival we were in contact with Almachius Audax, who was very friendly and helpful. During our tour, we were accompanied by our Guide Florian and our Chef Saribu. Both of them were well experienced and created an unforgettable experience, which exceeded our expectations by far. We would all recommend Meru Slopes Tours & Safaris.

My boyfriend and I went on the 5 day private safari between the Serengeti, Tarangire and Ngorongoro with Jacob, our guide and Dulla, our chef. The tour was amazing, we saw way more than we even imagined including the big 5 and Jacob made sure we didn't miss a thing. He also gave us lots of information and made sure our whole trip ran smoothly. Dulla cooked the most delicious food with such pride and care, his home made bread is the absolute best! Thank you Jacob and Dulla for giving us such an amazing few days, and for being such great guys to hang out with.

We (me and my boyfriend) did this group guided tour in december and were super happy with our choice. As there is a huge range of tour operators and tours to choose from we were unsure which one to pickā€¦ well, our choice was excellent. Our guide Mudi was a safe driver, experienced guide and more importantly a nice person to be around. He was able do show as even more than we hoped for. To top all of this we didnā€˜t expect this CAMPING TRIP to become a culinary highlight. However, Gideon our chef managed to prepare the most amazing food (Fresh baked bread every day for Dinner!!!!). If you have no trouble with Camping and are looking for an affordable way to see this places, we can recommend you this Tour.

We can highly recommend the camping safari tour with Meru Slopes. Everything was perfectly arranged, our guide Saleh was well experienced, drove very safely and tried his best to fulfill all our wishes. He managed to be always in the very first place to see an animal and gave us so many informations about the wildlife but also about life in Tansania. The chef Yohani was also very great. The food he cooked ever day for us was so good and he is such a nice guy, very respectful, funny and polite. As I told him, that the Chapati was my favourite dessert, he prepared it for the last lunch, which was very kind. The car was very comfortable with charging and WiFi on board. The campsite in Serengeti was very simple, the campsite in Ngorongoro Crater in contrast was more comfortable with hot showers and a heated dinning room. Price-performance ratio was very good and we enjoyed every single day. Thanks to Meru Slopes, especially to Saleh and Yohani- it was a really great adventure for us.

We have booked our tour with Meru Slopes and it couldn't have been better. We had an amazing 5 day Safari including adventures camping, one night in a lodge, visiting a Massai village and a walking tour through a village. Our driver Jacob was very knowledgeable about the parks, the animals and the best spots to see them. Also he always tooks care about the nature and respected all the animals. Because of his experience and his instincts we spotted so many animals and we had a highlight after highlight (just to mentioned a few: seeing baby lions, cheetahs, a leopard, a huge group of elephants, serval cats ...). Jacob was really a very cool and kind person who always know how to make this for us a once in a lifetime experience. So a special thanks to Jacob to make this possible for us. Further we would like to say thanks to Gidion. He was our chef and one of the kindest person we had met. Even when I got sick of the Malaria pills he prepared special teas and food for me and made always sure that we haven't a lack of anything. Just to mention it, not all of the operators do offer warm meals ...but Gidion always prepared something warm, self made and local cooked. We had even bread....which was besides like all our food amazing. Further and also we would like to mentioned is, that we had a very nice walking tour close to the lodge. Priska was very patient to answer us all our questions, showing us the village and have a drink with us after the tour. Also thanks to Meru Slope. We have to say that everything was very well organized and we hadn't to care about anything. Even our tents got built up, our table was always ready and when there was cold water in the shower I got some cooked water to wash myself. We appreciated also that the first and the last night from the Safari was included so we could really just lying back and let the adventure happened. We felt very welcomed and we had an amazing experience from where we will have wonderful memories. So all in all we would highly recommend Meru Slopes, Jacob, Gidion and Priska. :-)

l was so hesitant to go on this tour that l spent months thinking about doing it solo. l had so many concerns about the Safari, l have alot of back issues and my flares up are frequent. But l dont easily give up l reached out to alot of agencies and none of them were as responsive and reassuring as Meru Slopes! All my questions were answered right away! l booked the 5 days tour ( Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorngoro Crater) and as l was heading to the airport l remember googling all parks and l found out that theres much to do in Lake Manyara during this time of the year and thank god the very first day of my Safari l remember the guide telling us that we will skip Lake Manyara and we will add an extra day in Serengeti which was a relief to hear if only l could go back in time l wouldve added more days to Serengeti, it was a delight! Our guide was lebulo who was an expert and had all the answers for all of our questions. He knew everything about the routes in the parks and all the shortcuts! Gudian was our chef for the safari and he was an excellent chef prepared for us a variety of delicious meals, by far the best avocado salad lve ever tasted! First day we headed to the Tarngire park, the ride was okay had an extra cushion for my back for extra support. We saw bunch of elephants, zebras, wildebeests, vultures and a sleeping lioness on the tree. We stayed in a lodge in a room which was much needed before our camping trip to Serengeti Second day we were off to the legendary Serengeti! The roads were a disaster it was honestly quite rough all roads were unpaved we approximately took 4-5 hours to get there. It was all worth it. The moment we drove inside the Sernegeti l knew l would have the time of my life. Camping was pretty tricky we were give a pillow, sleeping bag and a foam mattress. The washroom wasnt clean at all and lights were out the two days we stayed in. The stars were beautiful at night l could see the milkyway with my own naked eye. The highlight of my whole trip was sleeping in the tent and listening to all the wild animals hunting at night. Be prepared to fall asleep to all the nocturnal animals hunting and interacting. Hyenas were the most talkative at night and they are always getting interrupted by the rawring lions! Third day (which was the best) we headed to the Mara river to watch the wildbeests crossing and luck was by our side. We arrived right on time, all wildebeests just waiting we spent around 20 mins watching them wait, suddenly we could sense the tensions rising up and Lebulo knew what was happening next, he pulled over at the edge of the cliff to witness the first wildebeest stepping into the water. An epic experience that l will never forget. We've seen it all in the Serengeti, leopards, cheetahs, pride of lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, cape buffalos and bunch of other animals. Fourth day was our last day in the Serenegti and we were off to Ngorngoro crater the ride was tough but not as long as the drive from Manyara to Serenegti. The simba campsite was so clean and pristine. Showers had warm water and were clean. Weather was a bit chilly and we always had guests coming to our camp. Everything was all well prepared, we were all being taken care of. Lebulo and Gedian went above and beyond to cater our needs. Thank you guys so much!!
