We had an amazing time with our guide, Iker. It was easy to connect with him, you can tell how much passion he has for all things Basque - from the food, the language, down to the history. He is knowledgeable without being overbearing and answered questions we had. He had loads of local spot recommendations for us, it felt as if we had a friend who lived locally. The walking pintxos tour was definitely a highlight. I still have vivid memories of the dishes we tried. Plus he takes amazing photos too! I was 6 months pregnant and not once did he make me feel like he was compromising our tour, instead He adjusted our pace accordingly to suit everyone in the group. He understood the assignment.

This 4-day tour in the Basque country was outstanding. Each day the experience was amazing and the extra care taken to ensure we enjoyed the day was greatly appreciated. Each guide, Carlotta, Juan, Jaime and Daniel were passionate about the areas we visited. They were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this tour and it was probably the best guided experience I have had.

The best part of Basque Country vacation is experiencing it through the eyes of a local. Owner of Basque Guides, Iker Bardaji, loves his homeland and generously shares his unparalleled knowledge of its history, culture, lifestyle and gastronomy. I cannot recommend Iker enough. He is so full of energy, passion, empathy and expertise. He creates a custom tour that speaks to your exact interests and abilities. Iker has a luxurious, spacious van which makes touring comfortable and safe. He finds the best places to eat, the best dishes to order, and gains first class access to them. We loved our excursions to St. Jean de Luz and Biarritz one day. On another, he took us to Bilbao and small towns where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. We learned about the wines of the region and sampled several. He was always on time and was able to arrange private transfers to airports and train stations for us. Best of all, his fluency in the English language is impeccable. I would not hesitate to recommend spending time with Iker and his expert helpers. We fell in love with the Basque country thanks to him and can't wait to return.

We had Iker for a thoroughly enjoyable 4 days. He is incredibly knowledgable, well connected locally, entertaining, informative,thoughtful and a great driver. Unhesitatingly recommend.

Our guide, Iker Bardaji, was amazing! His knowledge of the country, language and culture and his professionalism was beyond what we had hoped for. Iker knows his Basque culture and it is refreshing to see it being kept alive when it was almost lost. Iker is a true historian of the Basque people and a foodie and it was seen throughout our days with him and in the recommendations he provided for our meals. What Iker showed us in such a short time has made me want to come back to the region to see and learn more about the Basque traditions and maybe even tackle the language.

Our family of four just spent 5 days last week with two exceptional guides, Iker and Ernesto, from BasqueGuides. I am of Basque heritage, so in addition to their 4 day package, we spent a 5th day traveling to my family's home town outside of Pamplona. When you hire Iker's company, you hire professional guides whom are multi-lingual, steeped in history, interpersonally supportive in every sense of the word and culturally wise regarding all things related to societal information/norms, mouth-watering food and exceptional wines. Each of our five days were filled to the brim with amazing opportunities and interactions, many of which would NOT have been possible if it had not been for Iker's and Ernesto's combined work ethic, flexibility, inventiveness, and genuine determination to give us "6 Star" experiences. I cannot thank them both enough for all the spectacular, moving, and humorous moments they provided on a trip I had waited a lifetime to take. Not only will we be back, but we would only travel the Basque region with them at our sides! You should too! Had a really great time on this tour with my family. Iker showed us around to his favourite pintxo bars, went through the city's history in detail which really showed how proud he was of his country. We got to explore the 4 days like a local which was really refreshing. Iker was also very good in refining the tour to our interests Highly recommend !

Iker and Ernes were our favorite guides of any trip we have taken to date. Outstanding and knowledgeable and one heck of a lot of fun. If you don't have fun with these two gentlemen just stay home!

After four days of tours I added on another 2 days because Iker is that good! I absolutely could not recommend him more highly for anyone. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable and makes the most of each moment of the tour but moreover he is genuine, caring, and especially intuitive at giving and pacing the tour per the client. It really does feel both equally like high quality professional touring while at the same time like you’re just being taken in as one of the locals by one of the locals. He makes you feel totally comfortable, super well taken care of, and like you’re getting the most out of it for your own personal preference. He helped me with many little extras that I mentioned beyond the tour and adapted the tours as he saw what I loved to experience and learn most so that I was completely in love with them all. Always punctual, fresh, positive, friendly, interesting, knowledgeable, kind — he just seems to enjoy going above and beyond a standard ‘tour guide’ naturally to make the person happy without seeming like he’s forcing anything. So grateful to him for the many little and big moments that made my trip to the Basque country exceptionally lovely!!

El haber utilizado los servicios de iker fue lo más asertivo que pudimis hacer. Mi llegada a Madrid se vio atropellada por la pérdida del vuelo de conexión a San Sebastian. Iker se ocupo de buscar alternativas de transporte hasta Bilbao que fue el único vuelo cerca que pudimos conseguir y gestionar el recogido de nuestro equipaje en San Sebastian. Como ven, todo un caos. Una vez en San Sebastian el viaje fluyó espectacularmente y Daniel, nuestro guía por los próximos 4 días fue espectacular, paciente y muy ameno.
