Had a wonderful three day two nights tour with Beka travel! Long Ha Bay, overnight on the boat, the Lan Homestay, and photoluminescence kayaking were all big highlights, nice mix of activities. Good value. I'm not sure if it's because I booked last minute, but I was not with a consistent group for the three days of travel (jumped around with others doing one-night trips). Heads up to check with booking if this is important to you. If I'd been aware, I likely would have booked in at Lan Homestay for a few nights and booked individual components of the tour at my own pace, since I'm traveling at a slower pace over all anyway. Staff were all very professional and helpful. They were able to accommodate delicious vegan meals one the boat and at the Homestay (double check and verbally confirm again when you're overnight on the boat since there's a lot of different staff, it wasn't totally clear initially). Many thanks to Lily for organizing and helping book transportation, including all the way to Ha Giang after my trip. Big compliments to Thanh for guiding the hike and kayak with relaxed and fun energy, and thank you for the video compilation!

The trip was amazing. Thanh was the best tour guide we’ve had in Asia, he was very helpful and had lots of knowledge about the area and was always happy to answer questions.

Venturing on an exciting journey with the incredibly friendly Thanh from Beka Travels, I relished the jungle exploration and the charm of night kayaking. Thanh's spontaneous creation of a captivating video, along with the tranquil retreat at Lan Homestay featuring charming huts and delicious cuisine, made the trip truly special. Thanh's careful planning significantly enhanced this delightful adventure.

I mistakenly booked this tour thinking it was 2 nights on a cruise boat. The 2 nights actually was on land at a home stay on an island. I actually liked it better. The home stay is very spacious and the grounds is very pretty. The activities included hiking, night kayaking, cruising the bay, more kayaking, swimming and visiting a fish farm in the bay. All of our tour group only spent one night. There were no other activities if you spend the extra night. Overall we love the tour and highly recommend it. The only improvement feedback we have is for tour operator to have more proactive communication. We were not given specifics regarding the itinerary so we were having to ask for information at various points in the tour.

We participated in the 3 day 2 night tour and really enjoyed our time. The homestay itself is very beautiful, exotic, secluded, and quiet. We were offered a small hut-like room with a hammock outside, overlooking a pond surrounded by greenery. All the staff were extremely friendly, namely Thien and Jerry, whom we interacted with the most. The hike on the first day was quite intense. 2km of steep uphill on rocky terrain. I would recommend preparing proper footwear and water. The view at the top was stunning though. The boat tour on the second day was incredible. We kayaked, swam at nearby beaches within the bay, ate lunch on the boat, and visited a fish farm. My favorite part was the swimming. Definitely want to give a shout-out to Ryan who was our guide for that tour — he was so knowledgeable, fun, and amazing at communicating. We would highly recommend doing a tour with him. The only thing we would change about the tour would be to make it longer. We left in the morning at 9am and we came back to the dock at 3:20pm. I wish it could’ve been longer and we could’ve seen the sunset on the bay as well. In the evening, we went for a night kayak and saw the night plankton and floating village was really beautiful and serene in a different/subtle way! The third day we just relaxed and talked to other travellers through breakfast and lunch and then left to head back to Hanoi. Overall, I appreciated how coordination was very easy and all we had to do was follow instructions. It’s a slow placed tour so I would recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing time! We did the 3D2N tour with Beka Travel, where we spent two nights in a homestay in the Viet Hai village. We had an amazing time, and would without doubt choose the same option again! A special thank you to Thanh, that made our stay extra special, he gave so much of himself, and made us feel extremely welcome, and part of the family. Also an extra thank you to Chilly, our guide for the day on the boat, who was also really accommodating, knowledgeable and kind, and also made sure I got back some stuff I forgot on the boat! All in all a 11/10 experience.

The island is extremely beautiful! Getting there takes a little while, but it is worth it. It is very well arranged, and our friendly guide, Thanh, did a great job arranging things to do, even tough the weather was making things difficult at times. We had a great time on the island! The views were amazing and the activities were very good.

We really enjoyed our experience staying at Lan Homestay and with our tour guide, Thanh. Although the rainy weather was challenging, Thanh kept us informed about itinerary changes and we still got to achieve much of the itinerary despite heavy rain. There was enough downtime to relax, although we were sad to miss out on the hike because of the rain. The night kayak was the highlight of our trip because we felt like we were totally alone amongst the karsts. The plankton is so magical too!! If it’s a clear night, Thanh recommended lying down in your kayak for a quick nap amongst the stars (which sounded so epic). The homestay is a simple place with all the basic necessities, so don’t expect anything fancy. It was a great place to meet other travellers and the food was basic but enjoyable. Viet Hai village is such a beautiful little spot in the middle of majestic hills and you feel like you’re in a movie! The only complaint is that there was some rubbish in the water around the harbour and a rubbish dump a short walk out of town. It’s a challenge for a small village to get their rubbish back to the main town for collection, but it didn’t make it feel nice to swim in the harbour. It would also be nice if Lan Homestay had some bikes, SUPs or kayaks for the guests to use, the harbour would be such a nice place to SUP. Thanh is so kind and funny - we really enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about the village lifestyle. I would highly recommend this tour!!

Transportation to and from Hanoi to Ben Beo was pure madness, but the views on the way to and in Viet Hai village more than made up for it. Really beautiful, and the fact that there were so few tourists staying overnight there made it seem like a corner of paradise with the gorgeous landscape. Was travelling solo, and was slightly taken aback initially that I was the only one on the tour since there's usually a minimum number to be met on other tours I've been on, but the staff at the homestay were really warm and kind. It was really heartwarming and refreshing to see the close-knit community in the village. The guide (Thanh) was also really sweet and hardworking, lovely chill energy which was great, and very busy too it seems like, since he mostly always need to go off somewhere to settle other guests, but he did made sure all arrangements were made and gave the entire immersive local experience. The guide on the boat trip was amazing too, super warm and helpful, and his energy was infectious. Mealtimes were lovely and very much like a family, where you get to meet the other guests at the homestay. On hindsight, I really enjoyed my time at the homestay, and would definitely return when I need to clear my mind or even as a getaway to work remotely. I hope this place and the waters stay as beautiful even with the increasing number of visitors.

It felt like we were in a movie! Such an incredible and unique experience from start to finish. We felt like family and all our expectations were exceeded. The trip went smoothly, they took care of us every step of the way. We did hiking, kayaking, boat trip around the harbor, bioluminescent bay, bike riding, and all our meals were included! We really loved it and didn't want to leave! It was a special experience thank you Steve and Ling!

Chilly was an absolutely amazing tour guide. He was super friendly, helpful and very knowledgable. The entire trip felt like hanging out with a friend. At the same time, the trip was planned out very well. I had an incredible time hiking up to the highest point of the Cat Ba national park and on the boat trip the next day that included kayaking around the beautiful rock formations and swimming in the crystal clear water. Also the homestay was super lovely, so colourful and tropical!

We did a shortened version of the 3 day tour. We stayed at Lan Homestay in Viet Hai village. Our tour guide, Chilly, was amazing! He was very informative and welcoming. He led us on all our outings including a hike that gave us a view of the bay, night kayaking to see bioluminescent plankton, and kayaking through dark and light cave. Chilly made this an experience to remember! I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique experience. The homestay was clean/modern and the food was delicious. The tour guides were also accommodating to our schedules, as we experienced some schedule changes due to Tet. Thanks again for a unique experience!

I had a great experience with Thanh. He was very much helpful with all my bookings: homestay, Halong Bay cruise, night kayaking to see the luminiscent plancton, return trip to Cat Ba town... I really recommend him for a great experience in Cat Ba island as he is able to adapt to your tastes.

Really nice place to stay ! Clean and cozy. We sleep well and the host are so nice. Recommand this place for take a rest and enjoy pure nature.
