Oscar and Johane were excellent. Lunch spectacular. The constant rain and dense fog ruined the views.-no fault of the tour operator!

Issac was a fascinating tour guide who shared so much knowledge and perspective about Costa Rica history, wildlife, culture, and the environment. It was by far the best tour we experienced in Costa Rica. The one negative was encountering quite a bit of rain and wind on the lava trails but Issac's humor helped turned that part of the tour into a fun adventure.

Our family did the Volcano Hike and La Fortuna Waterfall with Fabricio. We had the BEST day. Fabricio was an incredible tour guide and very knowledgeable about all of the local flora and fauna. The kids loved asking questions and getting to know more about the Costa Rican culture. We were super lucky to get to see monkeys and a sloth!! After the 2 excursions, we ended the day with an authentic Costa Rican lunch at a close by plantation. We were able to pick our protein and experience more of the local culture. Completely recommend booking with the Rainforest Explorers and you'll be lucky if you get Fabricio as your guide!!

The guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend both him and the tour company. We had a great time swimming at the bottom of the biggest waterfall we’ve ever seen, and the volcano hike was a great history lesson and had beautiful views. Both hikes are at least moderate in difficulty. Be ready for lots of steps to the waterfall and lots of uphill walking and natural steps for the volcano views.

This was a great day with great views and an amazing lunch. Be ready to climb stairs both at waterfall and volcano, but it's so worth it. The guides were awesome!

The La Fortuna Waterfall is amazing as well as the Volcano Hike, and the lunch was absolutely divine, but what really made the experience amazing was our awesome tour guide Jason and driver Johann. Both went out of the way to give rich cultural history to La Fortuna and the many aspects to the the Arenal Area and the Falls but also to help us observe great wildlife and greenery, even going off the beaten path to showcase a sloth!

This was a great experience! This is a family owned business, and our guide was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and very attentive to everyone’s safety. La Fortuna waterfall was fun with 500 steps down (and then 500 back up of course). We had a delicious lunch at a restaurant by the river, which is owned by this company and is only open to their clients. It included a very typical Costa Rican lunch of rice and beans with a choice of chicken or fish, plantains, pick de gallo, tortilla, ice cream, coffee, fresh, orange– passion, fruit juice. We saw a sloth with a baby right behind the restaurant. Continued on to a Volcano hike up one of the lava flows. They provided walking sticks, which we noted that no other guides did. Would definitely use this company again! Our guide was Julio, and the driver was Ramon .

We will forever rave about this tour! This was a magical day. Firstly, we participated in this tour as a 30th birthday experience and what a memorable way to invite the decade. We first went to La Fortuna waterfall, where we journeyed down about 500 stairs to arrive at the waterfall. It was powerful and majestic but way too cold to enjoy the watering hole in front. We then went to lunch at a local spot for lunch, which was one of the best meals of the trip. They served a fresh juice of the day and dessert with coffee. Next, was the most spectacular part of the day. We hiked the 1968 trail at Arenal Volcano. Raul, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable about everything regarding Costa Rica. Raul answered all of our questions about the geological history of the area, the indigenous history, and all of the biodiversity. Raul was especially adept in identifying birds. He can identify 900 species of birds and recognize/repeat the calls of 400. We were never self-proclaimed bird-watchers but left with an affinity for those animals. Minor, our driver, transported us everywhere safely! Thank you to Rain Forest Explorers for a fantastic day.

Jorge was our guide and was a great guy and very knowledgeable and helpful for our family during the waterfall and volcano hike. The homemade lunch at the owners soda stand was one of our best meals of the week and so authentic !! Highly recommend them.

Both hikes were unique. They are challenging but well worth the beauty. I highly suggest hiring a private guide especially for the volcano walk as they can educate you on the history of it. We hired Rainbow Explorers as our guide and they were very informative and we also were fixed lunch by the family. What an awesome experience.

We did 2 different tours led by guides from Rainforest Explorers—both were highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to accommodate our questions and interests. The Arenal Combo tour was outstanding. Mario taught us about the volcano as we hiked, and kept it interesting throughout. The waterfall was really fun, and lunch at the farm was a real highlight of our trip.

Overall, this was a good experience however it was different than what we expected. First, we traveled to the waterfall (we thought that would be later so we had to change into our suits); THAT part should be called the hike. It was 1,000 steps and the way back up was strenuous on everyone. The waterfall itself was beautiful and there are swimming areas as well. It was cold and slippery and very rainy at the bottom but totally worth it! Then we got back in the van. The guides pulled over when they spotted a sloth (no idea how they saw it!) It was hard to see with the naked eye but with their camera and scope, we got some good pictures of the sloth and a toucan. We then went to lunch which was SO good. The people were super nice and accommodating and the food was one of the best meals we’ve had so far (including fresh fruit juice and ice cream). There was also great bird sightings here and a few dogs too. Last, we went to the volcano. It was not really a hike and more of a walk with some steps; MUCH easier than the waterfall steps. The trail to the volcano was extremely muddy. Do not wear Teva type sandals as you will slide around on the mud under your toes. There wasn’t much to see on the walk but the guide did share lots of history that was mildly interesting. That made it longer; otherwise you could do the trail and back in 30 min or less. They gave us fresh pineapple at the end. Overall, it was a good experience and we got some great pictures but I think we could have done it on our own and would skip the volcano next time; it’s better from afar :)

The experience itself was great. They picked us up on time and the guide was knowledgeable and accesible. The driver was also great, safe and cautious. They even stopped in the middle of the ride to show us a sloth that they spot during the trip. The food for lunch was amazing, and the place were we ate was beautiful! That being said, the places are easy to access on your own. If you have a car you can just drive there and the excursions are pretty safe to go by yourself. If you want the convenience of someone taking you, and guiding you, I 100% recommend this. If you’re a self starter and have a car to drive yourself, I’d do it by myself and save money and time!

We had a great day. Our guide, Francisco, was incredibly knowledgable and terrific with our children. They made us a delicious homemade lunch and the tour was fantastic. The best part was how easy going Francisco was when we made requests, specifically to get ice cream! Highly recommend this lovely family owned company.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and great with the two young kids in our group. The lunch that was provided was one of our best meals during our whole trip and it was in a beautiful location as well. It is a smaller family operated tour company. We enjoyed everyone we met. If I had not been traveling with children I might have planned to go here without a tour guide however I was glad that I booked this trip as it was very enjoyable.

What a great day! Our tour guide (Minor) and driver (Edgardo) picked us up promptly at 11:30. They were friendly and engaging! Our first stop was La Fortuna waterfall, which was beautiful despite the many steps! Next, we stopped at the family restaurant to enjoy a delicious and refreshingly authentic meal. We spent the final part of the afternoon hiking the base of Arenal volcano, with homemade chocolate and coffee at the end. What made the day most enjoyable was the attention to detail and jovial atmosphere. Minor, our guide, gave thorough details about everything and expressed his gratitude for our help in bringing back tourism to Costa Rica. He even carried a tired 3 yr. old on his shoulders various times throughout the day!😊

This tour was so much fun!! Edgar and his family are absolutely amazing and so nice and accommodating! We were staying in Guanacaste- which was extra far from La Fortuna and Arenal- and Edgar went out of his way to come pick us up and bring us back all in the same day. For sure a long ride if you’re coming from the Guanacaste area so be prepared but the experience and views were absolutely worth it! The lunch meal was also delicious-the best we have had in Costa Rica thus far. The hike and waterfall were great as well. I would highly recommend this tour!
