It is amazing place, I strongly recommend to take quided tour. It might seems expensive, but it is definitively worth the money, you would miss so much without that. Our guid was Ciro G. and I must admire his great peformance, very engaging, full of facts and able to answer all details about the place and everything around, thank you.

We took a tour with Ciro G who was terrific, very engaging and knowledgeable with an infectious laugh. He supplied headphones so that we could hear him above the noise, and he really brought Pompei to life for us.

Well worth getting guided tour. 2 hours approx £30 per person. About 15 people in our group. Lasted 2 hrs then spent another few exploring. Take food, drink with you. There's a pizza shop, but it's very busy. We stayed in Sorrento. Great transport links. Trains are good, but be prepared to stand in high season.

Julia was a great guide! Two-hours was the right length as we went in August and it was very hot, luckily there are pockets of shade.

We went in the middle of August and the heat was quite intense. So although the site is huge and in two hours you can only see a small portion, it was definitely the right choice. We went early which helped us avoid some of the heat and much of the crowds. Our guide was quite good. Highly recommend.

Our guide, Francesca, was energetic, friendly, and knowledgeable. She did not miss a beat and was clearly so well trained in archaeology and passionate about her specialty. She deftly navigated my husband and I through the crowds and made a hot day at Pompeii an enjoyable and educational experience. Antonio was absolutely WONDERFUL! We only had two hours and he made sure we saw as much as possible and pointed out so many things we would have missed!

We booked a walking tour of Pompeii and we weren't sure what it would be like. However, the organisation of the tour and the tour itself were superb. Annalisa was an amazing tour guide, her presentation, knowledge and warm nature had me hooked from the start. Annalisa's knowledge of Pompeii was incredible and she made us laugh with her jokes and the various 'mamma mia' moments! I was sorry when the tour came to an end but Annalisa did point out some onwards places to go and lookaround. We then went over to Herculaneum and both commented that we wanted Annalisa to show us around! Annalisa's real gift is being able make your tour feel really special, even though she does 4 a day. The in-ear radio devices worked well and if we did fall a bit behind we were easily able to find Annalisa thanks to her green umbrella. I've always wanted to go to Pompeii, thank you Annalisa for helping to make it a really great experience!

Annalisa was our English speaking tour guide and she was phenomenal. I was a bit sceptical about being guided around Pompeii but I’m so glad we were. Annalisa was warm, very witty, and incredibly knowledgeable and interesting, telling us all the things we never would have known had we not had a guide. Anna Lisa’s English was also superb. We were all given an ear piece so we could hear Annalisa talking into a mic; so much better than straining your ears to hear what’s being said. We also skipped the queue by taking this guided tour, worth doing in the heat! Overall, no regrets and I’m SO glad we had the tour (something I’d normally avoid!)

Daniela was excellent. She was able to give us a lot of insight about Pompeii in a limited amount of time. She also navigated well around the big crowds, highly recommend it.

Julia has excellent knowledge and commentary that brings the ruins and restorations to life. She added so much color. If you have kids she is a must for your trip. She was conscious of the erotic and sexual areas and warned us and added proper context where applicable. Thank you for bringing such and amazing and rich city back to life.

We went to visit Pompei and were very lucky to get such amazing guide - Annalisa. Pompei is of course worth a visit, but Annalisa made it unforgetable. Our Guide Ciro G was fab. He was very interesting and funny at the same time. He was a mind of information and happy to answer any questions we had. I learnt so much on the tour, and was amazed how big the excavations are amazing.
