Dreadful Experience, Lack of Responsiveness, Deserted Without Transportation in Blistering Heat. Initially, we were excited about our trip and had meticulously planned everything. Sami initially seemed attentive and friendly, but his behavior drastically changed on the day of the trip. Despite numerous assurances about visiting various sites, transportation, and sandboarding, none of these promises were kept. During the lengthy 7-hour journey from Fez to Merzouga, Sami blamed adverse weather conditions and bypassed all stops except for excessively expensive locations. Upon arrival in Merzouga, our anticipation for sandboarding, as promised, was met with confusion from the guides, who claimed ignorance of our requests. The following morning, our return trip to Marrakech, included in the package, failed to materialize. Left stranded under the scorching sun for hours, our attempts to contact Sami went unanswered. We ultimately had to arrange alternative transportation at our own expense, after pleading with the locals. Despite a satisfactory camel ride and overnight stay in the tent, our overall experience was marred by the distressing situation and lack of professionalism displayed by Sami.

TERRIBLE. UNRESPONSIVE. LEFT US IN THE SCORCHING SUN WITHOUT ANY TRANSPORTATION BACK. We were very excited about this trip and had arranged everything. Sami was very responsive and friendly till the day of the trip. He made lots of promises about visiting multiple places, transportation and sand boarding. None of which were delivered. 1) In the 7 hour drive from Fez to Merzouga - he said the climate was bad and did not stop anywhere besides for places that were extremely expeensive. 2) Once we reached Merzouga, we were looking forward to Sandboarding which was promised. When we asked the guides there, they pretended as though they don’t understand what we were saying. 3) Next day morning, ride back to Marrakech was part of the package. But there wasn’t any bus for us. We were left waiting in the scorching sun for hours and Sami HUNG UP our call and stopped responding to our messages. We ultimately had to pay another local taxi to reach Marrakech (that too after a lot of requesting and pleading to the locals). Although the camel ride and overnight stay in the tent was good, our overall experience felt more like a survival than a vacation because of SAMI.

The trip to the desert was brilliant! Everything was well planned and went smoothly. Hassan - the driver, made the long trip manageable with his calm attitude, frequent stops for rest, scenic views, feeding the monkeys and chilled music in the car. The camel ride itself was unique experience among the majestic Sahara dunes. The tents in the camp are clean, with Everything provided for a comfortable night in the desert. They offered us traditional dinner and music entertainment . The most magical moment was probably the night starry sky and the sunrise over the desert !!! I can only recommend everyone to experience for themselves this breathtaking trip ! Thank you !

Our driver Hassan was amazing. He speaks multiple languages so could communicate with all passengers; English, French, German, Italian, Arabic, probably more! He timed our stops well so we made sunset on time, which often meant rounding up stragglers! He was always polite. The accommodation is beautiful. Large, luxury tents with huge beds and private bathrooms; although there is no hot water. The staff treated us to some music around a fire after dinner with drums and singing, it was really wholesome. A abundance of cultural food is provided for dinner and breakfast. The dunes are absolutely stunning. My one star less than 5 is because lunch on both days is quite “expensive” and options are limited. Day 1 lunch was 8-10€ and day 2 was 11-13€. Compared with prices everywhere else in Morocco, this is steep so be sure to factor it into your budget/the trip cost or take your own snacks from your origin.

There is a lot of driving on this tour and our driver Hassan was great at keeping us on time, allowing appropriate breaks and informing us about the region. He is from the area and seems to know most people, which is nice. He speaks many languages and tries to accommodate everyone. The desert itself is pretty amazing, the sunset was good and the sunrise even better. Everything was pretty well organised with decent food (nothing spectacular), entertainment and fire at night and breakfast in the morning. The lunch options on the way aren’t great, but you are kind of stuck with what you have. The tent was really well equipped and quiet. The lack of hot water was an issue.

We made a reservation through Viator for our trip and were incredibly disappointed with the overall experience. Here's a summary of our encounter: The designated pick-up point was not honored, forcing us to transport our four suitcases approximately a kilometer to the actual pick-up location. Maneuvering the suitcases on Moroccan roads proved to be exceptionally challenging. The group tour bus was a disaster. It was a small bus with cramped seating that could barely accommodate a person comfortably. Several individuals opted out upon seeing the seating arrangement, making the 9-hour journey dreadful. Please refer to the attached pictures. The bus stopped at designated restaurants, all of which were exorbitantly priced. The restrooms were in disarray, leading to a chaotic situation. Please refer to the attached pictures. In the desert, conditions improved slightly, but to our surprise, we had to bribe for a room heater. Despite the freezing temperatures, many people did not have cash and were only offered multiple blankets, which seemed unfair. The return trip was extremely disappointing. Although we were booked for Marrakesh, the bus failed to show up. We were left waiting in the scorching sun as agents repeatedly promised the bus would arrive in the next 10 minutes. After an hour of waiting, the bus never showed, and we were eventually placed in a small local taxi. It was uncomfortable, cramped, and barely accommodated both our luggage and us on the 12-hour journey to Marrakesh. Our entire Moroccan trip was marred by these transportation issues. We strongly advise against booking with Morocco Memory Travel. We are currently seeking a full refund from Viator as several of us fell ill, and some had to cancel their plans.

The travel is very long on either side. 8 hours fes to desert and 12 hours to Marrakech the next day. The camel ride was amazing and our guides took the most incredible pictures for us! I booked the end of November so bring your jackets if you choose to travel in The off season!! It’s very chilly! The lunch stops have limited options so bring your own food if you have special dietary needs. You will get dropped off at the shell station ( I was under the impression we had hotel drop off and pick up) and did t get into marakech until 930pm. Great hospitality at the camp and wonderful traditional music/ drumming.

Getting to the desert camp is a long way so having snacks and water is essential before stops for toilet breaks and lunch were made by the van driver. Seats are small. The camel ride, view of the sun set, walk on the sand dunes and sun rise is an experience. Do not expect great meals though.

Excellent experience, absolutely worth it. The journey is a tad tiring, the bus takes many hours and the intermediate stops are essentially small stops just for a coffee/lunch or to go to the bathroom. The changes in landscape that can be admired along the way are spectacular. As soon as you arrive at the edge of the desert you are welcomed with a tea that is truly refreshing, there is a right break before leaving with the camels. Upon arriving in front of the dunes you are faced with an indescribable spectacle. There, we enjoyed more than an hour of dune trekking and gazing at that memorable sunset. Upon returning from the desert we were welcomed into a beautiful camp equipped with all comforts, the tent we stayed in was lovely and extremely clean. At all times our hosts were extremely dedicated and attentive, very young guys but very good at their job.

We decided to go with Viator and Samitrips because of their solid ratings. The destination was great but the trip itself was confusing and Viator didn't do much to help us out. The tour details said 10 people max, we were roughly 19 (like they tried to cram as many ppl as possible). There was no guide, only the driver. The first stop for coffee was in a hotel restaurant with no food (sigh) only drinks. The description said stop in Midelt for lunch and we passed it by at least one hour before stopping. When asked the driver about lunch, he got impatient and answered grudgingly yes yes in 2 minutes. (if you're not a people person, don't work in tourism). We sent a message to Viator asking if we were on the right trip because many things were off, they said they would contact Samitrip and we never heard back from them. There was only a brief description of the tour at the very beginning (at pick up) and the rest we had to discover for ourselves. The stops were quite short and untimed. Another description in the tour was sand skiing which never happened. the camel ride was nice and our berber guide took some nice pictures of us. Once we were settled in all was ok at the camp site. However we felt the lack of communication as to what was next and how to get our tents. We were told we had to register in a booklet. Our tent was nice and spacious, sadly there was no hot water left when we took our showers. The show was nice and the stargazing was out of this world. It was a great experience to visit the desert, one we do not regret. However we would recommend others to consider a private tour if this is in their budget, secondly we would not recommend Viator nor Samitrips because of the lack of feedback and help. Plus the described tour is not as it's written. Lastly, the restaurant stops are done at 3* places from Google maps. Do yourself a favour and check for nearby restaurants with better ratings! Samitrips and Viator, you are welcome to get in touch with us if you have any questions or would like additional information. Thank you -

I want to share my experience so that people have a CLEARER understanding of what to expect. The journey begins at 7:30 AM at the blue gate with breakfast, followed by a 10-hour ride with four stops, each lasting 10 to 15 minutes: 1. The Switzerland of Morocco 2. The monkeys 3. Lunch 4. Scarf shopping The camel ride is only 15 minutes, offering a glimpse of the sunset. However, sandboarding was promised but NEVER delivered; they claimed it would happen the next morning, which never materialized. On the return trip, due to a shortage of camels, six of us had to wait for a car to pick us up. The organization of the tents and the tour, in general, was quite POOR. It seemed that nobody really knew what was happening. The camp staff hurriedly placed people in the tents, and the food provided was very basic. The music was limited to a maximum of 30 minutes, and the fire consisted of a brief three-minute blaze with dry palm tree leaves. You spent the night there (at the desert) from around 6:00 PM until the next morning at 8:00 AM. The return journey was equally long, with four more stops along the way: 1. The same scarf shop 2. A panoramic view 3. Lunch 4. The Switzerland of Morocco The trip is notably lengthy, and the bus ride is not as comfortable as advertised. Additionally, contrary to the announcement of a maximum of 10 persons, the bus was fully packed with 18 passengers, leaving no spare seats. The chairs are rather small, especially for individuals who are more than 1.75 cm tall.

What an amazing experience to spend the night in the Sahara desert. Everything was taken care from the moment our wonderful driver Karim picked us up from our Riad. Karim also doubled as our guide giving us insightful information about Fes, the Sahara and the Berber people during our drive to the desert. Definitely a bucket list experience.

We left from Fes early morning and Sami picked us up exactly where we agreed the night before. The trip was long but easy because our driver, Mustafa, was a fantastic guide and spoke great English and Spanish. We stopped at various points during the trip for bathroom, food and sightseeing. The campsite was luxury, as it had Wi-Fi, running water for showers/toilet/sink and comfy beds. At night, local Moroccan food is served, live local music is played and games are played. In the morning, a hefty breakfast is served so that you don’t get hungry on your trip back. Bring your cameras because the sunsets and sunrises are stunning! Highly recommend to everyone.

Amazing experience! Sami and his staff team made the trip so much fun and they always ensured we were comfortable. He took us to all the really good spots and stops on the way to Merzouga, really good AC bus too. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a unique, authentic experience.

Hafid was an excellent driver for our trip to merzouga. Extremely helpful and friendly. The camp was amazing and all the staff made us feel welcome and educated us brilliantly on their culture. The camel trip was a highlight alongside the sunset on the dunes. Would highly recommend this experience.

Highly, highly recommend this tour! While the drive was long each day, it was totally worth it to reach the Sahara and spend time climbing the dunes to see the sunset. The local Berbers were extremely hospitable. The tent itself was very well maintained and had all the necessities, including amenities in the washroom. Our drivers on both the days were safe and fun to be with, playing songs and telling us about the local culture. They also stopped along the way for food, washroom breaks and some sightseeing. Great job team Sami who coordinated the wntire tour really well!

The 10 hour drive to & from the Sahara was long in a cramped van (my knees hurt for 2 days after) & while the views through the Atlas Mountains were beautiful, I expected more stops or information along the way. Besides one stop to see a few monkeys which were cute, the only other stops were for lunch & the toilet which made for a really long 2 days of nothing. The Sahara itself is stunning, but you really are there for like an hour max as part of this camel ride, just dipping your toe into the sand dunes & then leaving again. There really was no tour guide or lead obvious person in charge which made it difficult to know what was going on & I think everyone in the group felt confused much of the time. There were points that genuinely felt unsafe, just because no one knew what was happening & the bus driver started to left without members of the group multiple times before getting stopped by someone. The lunch spots where we stopped felt very touristy & the food was overpriced & the worst I had anywhere in Morocco. The dinner that was included was a little better taste-wise, but portions were small & there was no other food available. Accommodation in the dessert was surprisingly excellent, with the most comfortable bed/pillow I experienced in Morocco. The shower had good pressure & hot water. Overall it killed 2 days of the trip for just a nice view of the Sahara, definitely wish we had spent that time differently.

It was a great experience! Everything went smooth, the guide in the desert was lovely and the camp was made with a lot of love. The food could have had a lottle more flavor to it but I would not critize it, given the whole experience. We're we only in Fez for 3 days and would do the trip again to the desert 100%.

I went on the tour with my wife and daughters (age 11 and 13) and we had an incredible time. The pick-up and drop-off was easy (although I did get a call the night before with a change in time, so be ready for a 7am pickup) and the vehicles and drivers were good. The stops along the eight-hour journey were enjoyable and at nice intervals so we never had an issue where we needed a stop and couldn't get it. The highlight, of course, was the desert. I think the dromedary ride was about an hour and then we got to the dune for sandboarding and pictures. It was lovely, and the guides, who all spoke several languages fluently, were also good photographers. From there, it was a short ride to the nice camp. We had a tent with comfy beds, hot showers, and a private bathroom. The food was pretty good, as was the 20-minute drum concert in the evening. The sunset, stargazing, and sunrise were all fantastic. We all highly recommend this tour!
