This tour was difficult to rate, because there were two parts: the drivers and everything at the desert itself. CONS: The first driver who picked me up from my Riad to bring me to the main van, was rude and not helpful at all and started my experience off horribly. The second driver, who turned out to be our main driver for the entire trip back-and-forth, was pleasant for most of the trip, however, the entire van of 18 people talked about how we were left in the dark because the driver did not speak any of our languages, and we never knew what was going on. My biggest complaint about the driver was that he dropped me off a far distance from my Riad, but told me that it was right there. It was not right there at all. Not only was it a 10 minute walk down seven twists and turns of tiny streets with all of my stuff, my GPS did not work in that area and I got lost. Then I got harassed and extorted by some locals who showed me the way. All because my driver did not care where he dropped me off. Also, yes, the van has A/C, but everyone complained and all three vans in both directions that we were hot and sweating on the bus because they did not keep the air-conditioning on, most of the time it was off or on low. It’s a very long drive, and with minimal AC made for an unpleasant drive. PROS: Ben Haddou and the lunch there were AMAZING! And literally everything from the time that the driver takes you to the desert. The Berber people met us with the camels and walked us to the camp. I had a private tent, and it was absolutely perfect. We were greeted with Moroccan, mint tea, and fruits and nuts upon our arrival. After we got a little settled, they had prepared the most delicious Morrocan dinner for us, including several tangine dishes. Afterward we sat around the fire with the music, and it was a great experience. In the morning we got up early to watch the sun rise in the desert. Followed by a full breakfast and a ride back to the fans by Camel. THE BERBERS AND LITERAL EVERY SINGLE PERSON AT THR CAMP Made this one of the best experiences of my entire vacation!

Transport services only stop/rest at friends pit stops so to push sales. Camel ride too long must be cut back to 30min its too long for the discomfort. The luxury camp we had no shower water, it was dripping rather. And day 2 mornings are too rushed… and too much shouting

Not sure it was with this provider - but I suspect they're all the same. We took a 2 day trip from Marrakech leaving at around 7.30am from our Riad in the Medina. We stopped at various points to take pictures, get coffee, go to the loo and we had lovely views in the Atlas mounatins. In the afternoon we visited Ait ben haddou which was well worth it. At Zagora we then rode camels for 1.5h to get to the Berber camp, where we had a lovely tajine and a wonderful evening experience. However, trying to sleep in the tents (at least without the door open) was nigh impossible because it was so hot. After a camel ride back (30 mins or so) we then drove to Ouarzazate for a visit and ultimately got back to Marrakech around 7pm. The driver was superb and the overall experience amazing. Walking on sand dunes in the Sahara on a camel is a once in a lifetime experience! The only annoying thing with all of these trips is that they take you to places where locals do a hard sell on you to buy stuff...

I know… this will read as ‘a Karen story’ but… just wanted to warn you!! Take the trip, it is worth it, but… First advice: make sure you upgrade to the tent with private bathrooms! These tents are in a separate group and you get a bigger variation of food, drinks are included, bigger tents etc… Second advice: if the driver of the van tells you ‘no airco, open Windows’ : don’t believe him! He has airco, but they typically do not like to use it, which results in him being comfortable because he has a ventilator in front and the passengers being overheated because the wind is just hot… ours made us sit in the overheated van for the entire trip, and after we realised the airco was working, he turned it on for the last hour or so… it made all of us really mad…. The stay in itself was what I was expecting, nice people at the tents, great food, good accommodation Third advice: the drive takes 10 hours, not 6! Be prepared for that. It will make you less frustrated… i am sure! There is a lot of construction work going on on the roads, which slows down traffic. Our driver tried to make up for the lost time and drove like crazy!! He nearly got us killed, at least 5 times. People got sick in the bus due to his driving style. People got upset and started crying… not the best experience… Final advice: go for it! Make sure to force yourself up the dune in the morning to see the sun rise! It is calming and beautiful! But, this view is only possible if you book with viator (normal tents and luxury tents). If you book ‘on the streets of Marrakesh’ you will be placed in the tents on the other side of the street (no dunes in sight, no bathroom facilities, no water etc…) so pay the 5€ extra for the normal tent with viator of you want to do this… And upgrade to the better tents if you do not want to share a bathroom. Overall: the journey was terrible, but the stay at the tent was as they promised and really nice!

It's a must do !! The whole team involved is amazing Younes, Rachid, Abdul plus the camp crew. The camels and the tent are on a different level. If you can upgrade the tent will enhance your experience, if not still very good. It worth every single penny. Going to the desert and ride a camel , you have to have it in your bucket list.

It was one of the most beautiful experiences in Morroco. The trip was really well organized from the pick up till the return , the driver was excellent helpful along the way his minibus was clean and confortable , we saw amazing landscapes and views also a berbers villages lifestyle. The camel ride was very exciting to assist the wonderful sunset ,the beds are super comfortable and all was super clean , food was good, traditional music and good times around a campfire far from the world and close to the sky. The people were very nice and welcoming. Thank you for making our wish coming true

We booked a night in the desert as it was amongst the main attraictions for us in Morocco. It wasn’t very expensive, and the offered services were way above any expectations. The only “downs” were the very long rides by car from Marrakech to Zagora. But despite the fact that we were travelling by car for about 8-9 hrs, by the time you arrive to Zagora desert, everything changes and you forget about that. Our driver introduced us to our “desert guide and then, Hassan, the guide introduced us to the... CAMELS! It was a 45 minutes rides with the camels, with the sunset in front of us. So beautiful! Once arrived to the camp, Hassan gave us some cookies and a cup of traditional moroccan mint tea, served by the book. The private tent was very big and clean and the bed was aswell, big and very comfortable. We had dinner ( traditional soup, tajin and fruits) and then, they organized a fire in the middle of the camp and they sang berber music. It was amazing, everything from the weather outside to the joy they brought to us. The next day, we had breakfast (a lot of traditional food, and coffee, milk, tea) and then we left (sadly) after the sun rise, that was also stunning, seen from between the mountains. After another 7-8 hours in the car, we arrived back in Marrakech. All in all, it was a very beautiful experience that we warmly recommend!

you see a lot from the van but the rest is bull sh**. They make stops just to take you to their friends and they want to sell you stuff. At the “desert” (i don’t think that this is a desert) you gonna arrive when its getting dark and in the morning at 8’ you will leave and spend the hole day driving. i really don’t recommend this trip.

It's a nice chance to see a lot of the country from the bus, most of the days you'll be driving. The country is very beautiful and diverse. You also go to a few locations that are interesting, like the movie set of a lot of movies including gladiator, game of thrones, prison break 6 and many more. Although a lot of the locations you go to are chances for locals to sell you stuff and charge you a lot for food. You also get forced to buy a scarf for in the desert. They tell you you'll need it but you really don't. Although it does ad to the experience. The berbers of the camp that you will stay at are very nice and friendly and the camp is really luxurious too. Food is also fine. The camel ride is pretty short though, I think we rode back in about 45 minutes. You also don't really go into the desert, you'll stay just at the edge.

The trip mostly consisted of driving in a van for 10-11 hours each way and stopping at restaurants, shops, and other places where they tried to get us to spend money on overpriced food and goods. The drive was very scenic, but it got old after the first 5 hours... The driver was extremely rude - he didn't speak to us at all, and when I tried to ask him a question (any questions at all), he would literally just ignore me and go back to his phone. It was annoying. The camping experience was pretty cool. It was extremely cold at night and in the morning, but the tents had lots of extra blankets to keep warm at night. Basically the only worthwhile part of the trip was the 30-minute camel ride and the camping - although by the time you arrive at the camp is it already dark, so all you can do is eat the dinner and go to bed... Then begin the exhausting drive back to Marrakech. If I could go back, I would rent a car and spend a few days doing this activity on my own.

My partner had experienced a dessert trip when he was younger and was excited to take me out to the dessert and experience what Morocco had to offer. I had completed reseach into quality, prices and reviews, and decided that we should book early to avoid dissappointment. We were travelling during peak season over the new year. Please be aware that you will leave Marrakesh in a mini van and so will every other tourist all heading in the same direction. We started the day with a pick up location which our Raid kindly contacted the company for us and spoke on our behalf to arrange this. We went to the pick up point and there are hordes of other tourists doing the same, to which the driver will try and find you amongst everyone, which takes time. To then travel to another bus and wait in a very cold bus whilst waiting for others to arrive. Still no one has actually spoken to us and I only confirmed my name. Still I am excited for the journey ahead. However I am soon to have my eyes covered due to the drivers mad driving. Now I understand that Moroccans drive differntly than that in the UK, but when you have 14 souls on a bus with 2 of them being young children, I do not think it is appropriate, especially on the winding roads. As we come to an abrupt stop, it is our first rest break at a cafe, driver jumps out of bus and opens door, still does not say a thing and we have no idea how long we have. However there is a man who speaks arabic and the driver has no problem speaking to him. This mans asks for the radio to which the music was far too loud. I really did not mind music but people were trying to sleep and it was too loud, one couple asked for it to be lowered and again this fell on deaf ears. But on wards and up ward towards the mountains, and it is stunning views, clear blue skies and its really lovely but no hope of stopping for a picture. Other stops were okay with a guide meeting us off the bus, however they expect a tip. So we continue on to get to the dessert and we finally arrive, it is a very long journey so I would bare this in mind if you need plenty of stops. As we travelled in New year period it meant less sun light so when we arrived at the camels, which are waiting at the side of the road, you are racing sun light. As the driver starts pointing at you to go over there, we have no idea if we are in the right place, our bus passengers where all shown to differnent camps. We also had our rucksacks which we put on our backs. One girl put a water bottle infront of her on the camel which became dislodged and spooked the camel into a run and she fell off. The camels are high off the ground and our camel handler didnt seem too concerned. We were all worried for girl, but she was thankfully un injured. It is a 45min to 1 hour camel trek to camp by which time its cold and dark. We are shown to our camp, and it appears very well established with toilets, running water, electricity. We arrive and they just sort of put us up where ever there is space. But we grab a seat and our camel handler brings us mint tea and chats with us, and we find out that he works in the city but comes out and does this, we all thinking that local people are involved but it is not. I am left feeling like a guilty toursit and impact I am making to the city dwellers not the local society. One thing my partner and I were looking forward to, was star gazing, and we wern't dissappointed it was brilliant to see the stars. At night were very cold so I reccomend bringing as much warm clothing during the winter period. The food was satisfactory, just all a bit disorganised. Recommend bringing water bottles as they charge you at the camp. We were told to be up at 0630 and breakfast will be at 0700, breakfast was served at 0750, but again breakfast was satisfactory. We were then taken up to the top of a hill to see the sun rise. Some people went off on their own but we waited and our camel guide took us up a small trek up sand, but worth the wee muscle burn for a really lovely moment. It was then back on the camels, however it was a dash to the buses and very uncomfortable camel trek as the camels were forced to go quickly, my partners camel was at the back and even lost its footing! But back on the bus, which was freezing cold I asked the driver for heating to which he did not say anything! It was a very a uncomfortable journey, even my partner was cold and he works in Norway during winter!! I begin to think when will this journey end. One of stops was complety uncalled for, an old fortress which we are shown around but literally just alley ways, then lead to a carpet shop for 'tea' included in price, however they lead you into a 'talk' I was hoping they would show us or tell us how they are made but no it is a selling pitch and they very forcefull. This really annoyed many of us and left a bitter taste to the experience. There was also meant to be a stop at a movie studio which the two young girls were looking forward but the driver pulled over and spoke to the Moraccan gentleman who did not want to visit so the driver drove on. All of us were left utterly speachless. As we approached Marrakesh the driver again spoke to the young gentleman to ask us were we wanted dropped off!! The driver didn't even speak to us, at one point he just pointed to us to sit at the front. I just wanted to get out the vehicle and not see the man again. For the price I paid it was okay, I will always make the most of the experiences but I would ask the company to get better, saver drivers that are willing to deal with tourists. The organisation is terrible but could be easily fixed but it just appeared that they have no incline to do this, they have your money they do not care how your experience goes.

so my sister really wanted to go on a desert trip during our trip in morocco and i stumbled upon this offer online and thought that "this should be good" since it encompassed everything she wanted to do. pick up was swell, ride to the desert was long so make sure you bring comfortable pillows - there was no AC in the van (or the driver at least didnt put it on) . including the tours, the ride to and back is 10 hours each way. the drop off though was a big hassle. the driver at the end just dropped off majority of the people at the jemaa el fnaa and told us to go our separate ways when we were guaranteed a ride back to our riad. the contact person stated it was our fault that we should have called them for a ride to our riad and then proceeded to state that our riad is unaccessible and so the driver just "dropped us off at the nearest entrance" - IT WAS A 20 MINUTE WALK THROUGH THE SQUARE WHERE IT IS FILLED WITH MEN AND THEIR HARASSEMENT. not pleasant AT ALL. at the end, the contact person FINALLY apologized and they offered to give us a free excursion but we already had plans so we just parted ways. ouzazarte tour was not good at all - the guide kept bringing us into these carpet places where the prices are sky high and the owners would not let us leave until someone bought something- the people kept harassing me to buy something when i clearly told them no (they kept saying "no need to buy. what do you want. come to the back. i tell you good price"). SUPER annoying. the lunch places they select for us super pricey and not good at all. same for the kasbah ait ben haddou tour that we went on where the tour guide asks for money at the end but the kasbah has no entrance fee so you can just go visit the kasbah by yourself (such a rip off). ANYWAYS, despite all the negatives, I saved the best for last: the DESERT TOUR!!! honestly, it felt sketchy because the driver just dropped us off in the middle of the road and told us to go with these camel drivers so they could've led us to the middle of the desert to die for all we know LOL. but its all good! we're all safe and sound. the camel ride was 1.5 hour going and 45 coming back- be prepared to be sore LOL. the desert camp (we upgraded ours and it was so worth!) was gorgeous. amazing dinner, entertainment, stars, bedroom, bath, breakfast, sunrise, sanddunes. Mohammad was great. took pics of us on the camel. the stars were beautiful. highlight of this tour for sure. despite the bad, this was well worth it!

It was excellent! The trip is long but the vans are comfortable and have wi-fi. The driver very friendly as well as Ahmed our guide to the dromedaries. The camp was beautiful, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and delicious food! The only negative was the second restaurant they took us which seemed expensive and ugly in addition to the second guide, which was "free" but after the tour he asked us to pay him. Taking that aside the first restaurant was rich and abundant although it is not included. I recommend bringing coins to use the bathrooms during the trip!

This would have been a good excursion if the company that is in charge of transportation could run it properly. They can't and it ruins the pleasure. Positive: You'd get to see a variety of scenery: valleys, mountains, desert (not like dunes and dunes for miles but still – a desert), picture-perfect fortresses (reconstructed), you'd have camel-back rides. Negative: The company that is charge of transportation is incompetent. Like for others in this thread, they've botched it for me. I was at the meeting spot at the time I was told I should be. Was picked up and driven to the departure spot. That worked, the rest of the process – did not. First I had to sit for 30 minutes in the minivan with no explanations as to what am I waiting for. Then I was moved several times from one minivan to another. I’ve counted: I was driven in different vehicles through the same spot 3 times within 30 minutes. At some point, two groups going to two different locations were in the same van; then we were separated again. When the minibus finally left the city, we were already 1 full hour behind the schedule. The driver was driving very slowly, as it turned out, he was instructed to do so because he needed to let another group of people to catch up. This other group was FORGOTTEN! They weren't picked up in Marrakesh at the scheduled time and if it wasn't for their calls to their agent, they would not be picked up at all! Anyway, once the second group was transferred from another car, the driver pushed the pedal to the metal trying to catch up with the schedule (skipping planned stops and driving sometimes dangerously given this was a mountainous road). This was impossible and the highlight of the day – a visit to the Kasbah Ait ben Haddou was reduced to ridiculous 15 minutes. I am not exaggerating: it was literally in and out! Still, they have charged us full fare and led us to the souvenir shop insisting we must buy [unnecessary] scarfs, etc... We've spent more time in that shop than actually visiting the site! (I timed.) This is a rip-off! I asked for a partial refund, the company ignored my request. I contacted Viator; they promised to look into it... It's a joke! All they did was they forwarded my request to the same company: Morocco Desert Fun Trip who rejected my request with an "explanation" that, I quote, "I participated in the trip". Of course I did! Why would I complain if I didn't? This is adding insult to injury: first you are robbed of the key event that you prepaid full amount for and then instead of dealing with the vendor, Viator (mind you, the purchase, i.e. the contract is between you and Viator) simply retranslates vendor's meaningless explanation (that I was there). To sum up: This is an interesting trip but do yourself a favour and choose a vendor who can actually run it. Avoid Morocco Desert Fun Trip – apparently, they can't do it and they refuse to own their problems / take responsibility for their screw-ups. PS Morocco Desert Fun Trip’s reps never explained anything. And they never apologised.

This tour was incredibly average, honestly, we will not be booking it again. The drive from Marrakesh to the desert was about 6-8 hours and the roads were horrible and windy, we had no guide with us delivering facts or information about what we were seeing we were just in a car and everyone was feeling sick. We stopped in a town for lunch, the food was expensive and bad so I recommend bringing your own lunch if you do go on this tour. Then when we finally got to the desert our group of 17 people was split off, 5 of us went to one camp about 45 minutes away by camel, 2 others went to another and the rest of the group went to a camp 20 minutes away by camel (they could see the campsite from where the camel rides started), there were no rolling sand dunes as you see in the photos ( those are only in the Sahara desert apparently). The sunset, however, was nice and the guides at the camp were lovely, they taught us hand-drumming and served us delicious food. Our campsite was fine, there was running water, but, the lights in our tent and several others did not work and they did not do anything to fix them so we were forced to be in the dark. The next day we got up, breakfast was leftover bread from the night before and boiled eggs, then we rode the camels back to the car. Then we drove again 6-8 hours back to Marrakesh, the place we stopped for lunch was okay but again, expensive and nowhere near as good as the other food we had had in Marrakesh. So all and all - we were on this tour for 2 days so about 48 hours, over half of which were spent either in a car (either feeling sick or sleeping) or in a tent sleeping. Not worth the time, if you only have a short time to see Morrocco you are better off booking a different tour where you will actually get to see more of the desert and sights, get a proper guide who will be with you the whole time and not be brought to various tourist traps. The trip was fine and it was okay for us but if we were to return to Morocco we will definitely not book this again.

Amazing two day one night trip from Marrakech to Zagora! Stopped off at some historical cities along the way which were beautiful! The camel ride at sunset was the best part! In the morning you climb the mountain to watch the sunset so make sure you take your cameras! Long days travelling but definitely worth it!

We had a wonderful time, great hosts and amazing scenery. It was a long journey from Marrakesh but well worth it. You get to visit a 16th century Kasbar, the setting for Indian Jones, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and many more, on the way. Then you get the chance to ride across the desert and watch the sun set. The accommodation is excellent, to call them tents would be unfair. Lovely traditional evening meal follow by music and dancing by firelight. The next morning after breakfast is the climb to watch the sun come up before another camel ride back Just brilliant an experience not to be forgotten
