We had a fabulous time in Morocco. Ali was our driver and organizer and he did a fabulous job. Always available for questions and wanted us to experience all that was important to us. He was friendly, kind and a very good listener....he made the experience one of the best trips we have ever had

We booked the 12 days culture tour of Morocco for late January. Operator Youssef was very helpful in making the arrangements. He quickly responded to any questions and made great efforts to accommodate our requests. The entire trip was pleasant and the arrangements are seamless. Our driver/guide, Hassan, is wonderful! He is most responsible, caring, and knowledgeable. From the airport pick up to the entire trip to returning to the airport, he took care everything without any issues. He made extra effort to ensure that we were safe and not getting loss in the Medina. We learned a great deal of Morocco with Hassan through the entire trip. He is also an excellent photographer, taking beautiful group pictures for us. The van ride was very comfortable. The highlight was the camel ride and overnight in desert tents. The experience was so wonderful! The medina, the markets, and Jamaal square in Marrakech were among the best experiences.

As two women traveling in Morocco (12 days) we decided hiring a local Moroccan-born guide would be the most efficient and offer the greatest peace of mind. We were right and had a wonderful and very memorable time (memories which will last a lifetime). The broad overview: 1) trustworthy/professional; 2) organized; 3) highly knowledgeable of the history, culture, activities; 4) knew many local people in every town, and 5) allowed for flexibility on start times, end times, and what to see and do each day. We felt safe at ALL times and enjoyed every aspect of the tour. Also worth noting be prepared for a few longer drives, but absolutely worth it. The desert camp was the highlight of the entire trip. Additionally, if you are open to hotel types the team can help and book... if you want only high-end hotels (they go quick) and I would suggest booking some yourself far in advance.

We had a private tour in November for 11 days, and this was a fantastic experience! Hamid was our main guide, who picked us up from the airport and drove us around in a very safe, calm manner. He was very knowledgeable and gave explanations of sights and for Moroccan culture or any questions we had. For some places, there are local guides to go in-depth. The local guides selected were very high quality too, although this may end up being an issue of availability of the local guides. One of the great things about Morocco Expert Tours is the customization before and during the tour. Before the tour, I spoke to Youssef to determine a customized itinerary, and he was very good communicating things and making recommendations until I was satisfied. During the tour, Hamid would cater to all our needs, whether we needed to find a bank or stop for bathroom or photos. He'd even make recommendations on doing an extra hike or other things to see. Actually beyond that, he's a problem solver, helping you accomplish what you need. His English is superb, which is a godsend when you discover most of the locals don't speak it well. Anyway, I'd definitely recommend Morocco Expert Tours, and you for sure will be in good hands if you get Hamid!

Let me first say... STOP reading this and book your tour/activity/driver with Morocco Expert Tours! I already did all the research you will ever need and if I chose them, so will YOU! We can honestly not say enough about how incredible our experience was. We spent 3 weeks touring Morocco and almost 2 weeks we organized with Hassan and Youssef private tour for John and I. We knew we wanted to go to the desert for several days, then Fez, Meknes, and Chefchaouen (the last was Youssef's idea - and ended up our favorite). We knew getting a driver would be the quickest option - Thank goodness we did that! So, by the end of the trip ( which we were changing ALL THE TIME we had a solid tailor made plan on what we would do as a tour and what we just needed a driver for. We ended up with a lifetime experience and Friends that we will never forget! We arrived in Marrakech and spent a few days there and then Hassan picked us up right in front of our hotel, on time, and with the biggest smile and welcome that made us feel instantly comfortable. From there we began the drive to the desert. It is a long journey but Hassan was prepared for this and kept us engaged through this incredible landscape. When inevitably we would be lulled to sleep from riding in the back seat, he would wake us up to one incredible view after another! AMAZING! We had a bucket list prepared of all of the foods that we wanted to try that we told him about probably in the first hour of our time together and throughout our time together he would stop and out of nowhere pop up with this delicious food. I have no idea how he remembered everything - it was a long delicious list! While riding a camel in Merzouga, I was bucked off (being from Texas I really tried to hold on) Hassan went above and beyond ensuring I would make it through the rest of our trip. He even spent the night at the tent camp (which wasn't planned) incase we needed anything. Thank you Hassan!! (Also, it was not camels fault. My sweatshirt spooked him). Came home to an MCL grade 2 tear. 3 months recovery time. Without Hassan and my new Husband by my side our African adventure would have been much different. I am leaving all the fun out! The ancient wells, camel milk (delicious!), the food, the landscape, Volubilus, the dogs we fed on the side of the highway, Berber bathroom stops, the TOP NOTCH accommodations MET ckose, The day we were leaving Morocco, they closed the borders to all inbound and outbound travel because of the Omnicron Variant. We were stuck. Very happily at first, then realizing it really could be a month or more before we got home, worried. We had already said our goodbyes the day before. So, there was no reason that MET should have even worried about us. BUT worry they did! They were in constant contact with us offering to help us in ways that were ABOVE and BEYOND. They proved (even though there was no doubt) what wonderful people they truly are. We did end up getting a re-patriation flight and all ended well. These are just some of the things that could have gone really badly BUT instead make for wonderful memories. I am writing this review, NOT to tell you about all of the beautiful places and the beautiful people of Africa because you already know you want to go there and I cannot wait for you to experience all the things we did, for yourselves. I am writing this review because Morocco Expert Tours is Beyond Excellent. Every moment- from my first email, to my constant, "what if we did this", to even the congratulations on our wedding last month... this level of caring only comes from people who love their country and love to make sure everyone who comes their has the time of their lives. Thank you Hassan and Youssef for being a part of our blessed journey!! AFFFRRRRIIIKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAA!! - Hassan Thank you for all of the memories that we didn't plan! Youssef - Thank you for always being kind, patient and happy!

My husband, parents and I took a 12 day trip to Morocco. I planned the itinerary and the hotels. All we wanted was a driver who could take us from place to place. We contacted Morocco Expert Tours on the recommendation of a family we knew who had traveled to Morocco two years ago and who had used a driver and guide through the company. We did an entire loop around the country from Casablanca, Essaouira, Marrakesh, the desert, Fes (with a side trip to Meknes and Volubilis), Chefchaouen and back to Casablanca (with a stop in Rabat). Our driver, Idir, was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history and background about the places we visited and the places we passed. Between him, our research and our guide book, we didn't miss having a guide at all. Importantly, he was a safe driver and knew where he was going. We had thought about driving ourselves, but in the end, we were glad to have left it to a professional. He avoided all speed traps, of which there were many, and knew the roads. Also, Idir was very kind and considerate and made each of us feel comfortable. His English was great, so we had no trouble communicating with him. We're not a fan of stopping at tourist shopping places, and Idir respected that. We had tea with his family, which was also nice. We spent a lot of time in the car, and we always felt safe with Idir. We highly recommend Idir and Morocco Expert Tours if you're looking for some assistance in Morocco.

Truly wonderful. Morocco Expert Tours did an amazing job on our 11 day private tour for two women travelers. We asked to see cultural and historical highlights and also get off the beaten path, enjoy the outdoors and see more local life. They customized a tour just for us. We relied on their expertise for what to see and how to see it and were not disappointed. Our driver/guide was Hamid, one of the owners. He was great. We enjoyed his knowledge of the country, history, geography, and culture. He went the extra mile to please us - even adding in a little stop to look for fossils when we mentioned we enjoyed that. Not every day went exactly as on the plan - but we did everything we wanted and more we didn't even know we wanted. A couple of things you might like to know. They are truly professional and honest. Don't worry about sending in the deposit. Then a couple days into the trip you pay the rest on credit card if you wish (3 percent added for that). All above board. We had a local tour guide in most places we went to. Most were fantastic and added a lot to the experience. However it also adds to the expense as you tip each guide. We had a terrible guide in Marrakech - didn't show us anything we could not have seen ourselves. Maybe skip the guide there. P.S. Once we told this to Hamid he was immediately on the phone and willing to arrange another guide to come that afternoon. We declined. All the places we stayed were good. Some were fantastic - with beautiful architecture. All breakfasts are included and some dinners. Lunches not included but often chosen for us based on guide recommendation or convenience when driving to from places. Some great some not so great, but in the scheme of things it all worked wonderfully. I highly recommend Morocco Expert Tours.

BRILLIANT!!!! Absolutely fantastic! After looking through tours of Morocco and nothing matching where I specifically wanted to go, I got in touch with Ali from Morocco Joy Travel and I am so glad I did. He organised our 10 day/9 night tour. He went out of his way to organise the tour for my husband and I to all the places we wanted to see, he organised the whole trip, accommodation, excursions and we even went to a family members traditional Berber wedding - it was fabulous. We met people on other tours while we were there and I am so glad I went with Ali and Morocco Joy Travel, I could not fault Ali, he was knowledgeable, friendly, funny, attentive and went out of his way to make our trip so memorable and the price was fantastic. If you are thinking of going to Morocco, and you definitely should :) then send Ali from Morocco Joy Travel an email on what you would like to see and do and he will put together a fantastic itinerary and guide you through the whole booking and planning process

My family just returned from a magnificent 11-day guided tour of Morocco that will provide awesome memories to last a lifetime. Our group consisted of my wife and myself, our two married daughters and their husbands, and our precious one -year old granddaughter. Morocco Expert Tours and our driver-guide Abdul exceeded our expectations in every respect. The initial itinerary and booking arrangement with Youssef was handled with professionalism and ease. He answered all of our many questions clearly and expeditiously. We chose our own itinerary and had made AirBNB reservations along the way. After all the arrangements were made and monies transferred, it was finally “D-day” for arrival into the Casablanca airport. Would someone be there to pick us up? I mean, you never know. All fears and trepidations were put aside after we emerged from the arrivals hall and were greeted by our smiling driver extraordinaire Abdul. After a gracious welcome, he stated that we are now his family and anything we wanted or needed was his pleasure to provide. With Abdul cheerfully and ably at the helm, we were able to travel a good swath of Morocco. From Rabat, to the beautiful “Blue City Chefchaouen, Meknes and Ouarzazate. We experienced the chaotic but fascinating casbas and medinas in Fes and Marrakesh, where licensed guides accompanied us. A favorite of the trip was a two-night stay at a beautiful auberge in the Sahara where we had also booked a camel trek and desert camp. Awesome! This was followed by an exhilarating drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Our trip was capped off with a relaxing two-day stay in the “chill vibes” coastal city of Essaouira. From the moment we arrived, our driver/guide Abdul went above and beyond to make our trip fantastic and stress-free. It was a special treat when he took us to his home to meet his wife and two lovely children. Thank you Abdul and family for the honor of your hospitality. We are indeed “one family!” Morocco is a beautiful and endlessly alluring country and so are her people. For anyone considering a trip to this country I have no reservations in highly recommending the services of Morocco Expert Tours!

We hired Morocco Expert Tours for an eleven-day private grand tour of Morocco. My girlfriend and I were the only travelers on this tour and simply put, this tour was amazing! Before I get into the specifics of the tour, I must say that Youssef was excellent at answering my questions and adjusting our tour to fit our needs. I have a daughter studying in Rabat and we wanted to spend four days in Rabat in the middle of the tour. Youssef suggested itinerary changes that made this possible. He also booked us a beautiful riad in Rabat for our stay there. Another thing I liked was the airport pick up and drop offs. We had a lot of luggage and our guide, Youssef, (the owner Youssef’s nephew) was more than helpful with our luggage… not only at the airport, but throughout the tour. For both legs of our tour (before and after visiting my daughter in Rabat), Youseff was our guide/driver. Youseff was very knowledgeable about all the sights and cities we visited. He would discuss history and tell us stories about Morocco. He would recommend excellent restaurants and shopping spots and was always able to modify the itinerary if we decided to see something on a whim. We also had excellent private guides in Fes, Volubilis and Marrakech, which were arranged by Youssef ahead of time. These guides showed us many of the important historical sites as well as the best places to shop… places where you can buy authentic artisan crafts, as some shops in Morocco (even in the Medinas) carry products made in China. We split our trip into two legs. The first leg included Casablanca, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes and Meknes, as well as some small sights along the way. Of these, Chefchaouen was probably our favorite. We only spent one night there, but I would highly recommend staying there for two nights. The Roman ruins with their tile mosaics at Volubilis were amazing and Fes has a great Medina with beautiful artisan shopping. We would love to have been able to spend more time in Meknes…next time. After a beautiful stay with my daughter in Rabat, we embarked on our second leg of the tour which included the Mid Atlas, Merzouga and the Sahara, Todra Gorge, Ouarzazate and Marrakech. The desert area was phenomenal! Everything from the overnight camel trek, to the souk in Merzouga, to the very special musical performance outside Merzouga by the Gnawan musicians was extraordinary. The Todra gorge was far more enormous than I could have imagined. The Kasbahs in the Dades Valley were fantastic and Marrakech has all the fun and freaks of a carnival, while encompassing all the history that is Morocco. Throughout the tour, the hotels and riads were always comfortable and clean; and most of the time luxurious with beautiful views. A guide/driver on a private tour can make or break the tour. Our guide, Youssef, was a gem and made our tour special and unique. He was helpful, kind, knowledgeable and adaptable to our desires. We would recommend Youssef to anybody’s tour. Thanks to both of the Youssef’s at Morocco Expert, we have knowledge and memories of Morocco that will last a lifetime!

Two travellers here. We had a wonderful holiday. The lead up communication was clear and responsive and fitted our limited time schedule. We covered a lot of ground and saw many different things in a beautiful country. Our main driver (Mustafa) was experienced and we felt safe. Our main guide (Yassine) is a very friendly and personable guy who by the end of our time with him felt like a real friend. He gave just the right amount of information for our needs, was always there for information and advice but did not invade our privacy and communication among ourselves - a perfect balance. Both Yassine and Mustafa went out of there way to help us. Accommodation was mostly riads which were our favourite. Much easier to build a rapport with the people than in hotels. We had one night stay in a hotel which was high quality but to be honest would prefer a more modest riad. The desert camp was great and very comfortable. Lunches were mostly in restaurants and the food was delicious and very plentiful. As a suggestion, it would have been good to experience more street food or more interaction with locals if possible. We did eat at a local restaurant in the Medina in Fez and it was a highlight as the food was delicious and interaction with the proprietor and his customers was a lot of fun. We did have a change of driver on the last two days (Zaid) who was very knowledgeable and very safe driver but did feel that it would have been good to stay with our original driver and guide as we had built such a good relationship with them. Overall, we loved Morocco as the people were so warm and welcoming, the food magnificent and scenery stunning. We would highly recommend this company and hope to return some day. Thanks for making our holiday special.

We just finished a luxury, 10 day tour of Morocco starting in Casablanca and ending up in Marrakech. This was a private tour where Hamed picked us up at the airport, drove us around the country in a great Toyota Land Cruiser and dropped us back at the airport when we finished. MET is a family owned company. Hamid our driver/guide was one of the brothers that own the company. He is very knowledgeable of the country and culture and very pleasant to tour with. This was a private tour so we were able to stop when and where we wanted and adapt the tour to our needs. I got a cold along the way and shortened the days near the end, dropping some sights. Since it was a luxury tour, you stay in the best Riads. Very nice places with great restaurants. All tours were guided by locals who really knew the areas like the medina in Fez, the Roman ruins in Volubis or the souks in Marrakech. We had a wonderful time riding the camels in the desert, feeding the monkeys in the mountains and shopping for everything in Fez. The artisans there are amazing (leather, wood, ceramic, metal, carpet, cloth). Very well organized and executed tour. Thank you Hamed and Youssef.

A trip of a life time. I have already recommended friends to try MET out!! We were 16 women in the group and Yussuf who was VERY accommodating for us!! If you can imagine 16 women traveling together!! The Camel ride out to the luxury camp was my highlight!! Staying in a 400 year old Kasbah with no electricity and eating by candle light was amazing!! Just learning about the history of Morocco and covering as much as we did, makes it a very worth while trip. Yussuf had so much knowledge of the country and shared it with us in such a way to make it seem magical!! THANK YOU MET and Yussuf for making this a trip I will never forget

Fantastic. Fabulous. Outstanding -- All words that describe our Morocco trip as well as Hassan, our driver/guide. Our twelve days traveling around Morocco were fascinating and fun as well as extremely educational. With Hassan sharing his extensive knowledge of his fascinating country, we were able to experience so much of Morocco, from the beautiful Blue City of Chefchaouen . . . to the High Atlas Mountains . . . to riding camels into and overnighting in the Sahara Desert . . . to experiencing the chaotic medinas in both Fes and Marrakesh . . . to crossing rapidly running rivers on foot and scrambling up boulders to experience beautiful waterfalls. Hassan truly went above and beyond to make our trip fantastic. A special treat for us was when he invited us into his home to meet his family and share lunch with his wife, son, and mother. When both of us came down with a mild case of traveler’s sickness, Hassan found an open pharmacy on a Sunday and bought something to help our stomachs. He went even further that evening when he asked our Riad to prepare rice for us at dinner, to again help with our traveler’s sickness. His concern for us was extremely thoughtful and much appreciated. We’ve traveled to many places around the world and can say with all sincerity that Hassan was not only a great guide but went beyond what many other guides have done. He always made sure we had everything we needed before leaving us at our Riads and often made suggestions of things to do that evening as well as the best and safest way to get there. By the end of our trip, Hassan was more than a guide. He was a friend.

After researching several tour companies, we chose Morocco Expert Tours to help us with our private trip. Morocco Expert Tours (MET) is a local company operated by two brothers. Our 10-day trip started in Marrakech and took us to Rabat, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangiers, Asilah and Casablanca. Services provided by MET included a vehicle, driver and local guides in Marrakech and Fes. Overall they exceeded our expectations and we would definitely use and recommend them to anyone interested in exploring Morocco. The star of our vacation was our driver, Moustafa. He was mature, professional and extremely knowledgeable. He had a very good command of English. He acted as a driver/guide for us in cities where we did not have a local guide. Moustafa was always punctual, had a good sense of humor and we had great conversations with him during our trip. He also had very good music in the car. The car he used was clean, very comfortable and spacious We learnt a lot about Morocco from Mustafa. Ahmed our guide in Fes was also knowledgeable. We saw a lot of Marrakech on our own as the guide in Marrakech did not meet our expectations.

Morocco Expert Tours (MET) and especially Youssef (aka Mr. Morocco) made our vacation very special. His knowledge and insight of the country and culture, as well as, his love and pride of Morocco enhanced our experience. Starting in Casablanca going to Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara Desert, Marrakech and Essaouira and many places in between was an unforgettable holiday and one we hope to repeat soon. Youssef tailored each day according to our needs and requests, his command of the English language and communication were excellent and he made us feel so welcome, like we were family. Accomodations at Riads, Dars or hotels were above our expectations. Additionally, Youssef did not miss when we inquired about wanting to sample authentic local cuisine. We ate delicious Tagine, Pastille, Lamb bbq, berber pizza and local fruit on the roadside where they were growing. MET especially Mr. Morocco are very professional, extremely knowledgeable, funny and entertaining. Don't hesitate to come to explore beautiful Morocco and further enhance your experience by having MET and Youssef guide you.

We just got back from Morocco and don’t just miss the country, but we miss Youssef from Morocco expert tours. He was not only our guide/ driver, but became part of our family! Youssef and Morocco expert tours are everything you could ask for in a company. They are experts in the area, Very knowledgeable, patient, flexible, funny and make you feel extremely welcomed and comfortable while visiting their country. We have travelled a lot, and never loved a company more than this one. Long travel days were always filled with interesting conversation and frequent stops to participate in local foods, music, sights. We felt as if we were traveling with family, not a tour company, and to us, that makes all the difference in the world When we visit Morocco again, and we will be back after this experience, we will definetly only be using Morocco expert tours and asking for Youssef!!! If you want the ultimate Moroccan vacation, you should do the same

My wife and I had a great wonderful time during our 11 day trip around Morocco. It was nothing short of spectacular. Before we traveled, we had, via email, discussed with our contact Mr. Youssef for a tour that would suit me and my wife. He helped us plan a tour that suited what we were looking for. When we arrived at Casablanca Airport, we were greeted by our driver/guide Mr. Zaid. Straight out the gate, he was already helping me to acquire my wi-fi hot-spot router from a local company which had forgotten to deliver the item to us at the airport. He not only helped us with the communications (which would have been impossible without him as we neither spoke Arabic nor French) with the company but went as far as to get it from them and bring it to our Riad the next morning. From the airport, we drove to Rabat, then off to Chefchaouen the next morning. We visited the Blue city and has a wonderful time there as it had been our dream to visit the place for so long. From there, we continued to many other fascinating places in Morocco - Volubilis Roman Ruins, the city of Meknes, the amazing cultural city of Fez, where the sprawling Medina is a sight to behold and an amazing adventure to explore (do get a guide as the narrow, labyrinthine streets of the Medina is easy to get lost in - our Fez guide, Zakaria Laasri was super helpful during this portion of the tour). Then we traveled to Merzouga thru the middle and high Atlas mountains. They were a sight to behold as we approached the Ziz Valley. In Merzouga we took the camel ride into the desert and spent a night in the desert marveling at the night sky which was filled with diamond like stars. Before that we witnessed the beautiful sunset and the sunrise the next morning. These were one of a kind experiences and I'm really glad we managed to do them. From there on we traveled through the Todra gorges and Dades Valley to Ouarzazate (the movie city of Morocco) where many films were shot. Also during this portion of the trip we visited the beautiful Kasbah Ameridil and Kalaat M'gouna - the Rose city. Continuing, we visited the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah while on the way to Marrakech. Marrakech was a vibrant ad interesting city, with its old and new fusion. We visited the Jemma El-Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadien Tombs, the Majorelle Gardens and the Der-al Bascha Museum of Monotheistic Faiths. We also traveled to Ourika to visit the Fatma Waterfalls which were absolutely beautiful. On our final day, we finished the tour by visiting Casablanca. The beautiful and modern Cornich coast and the majestic Hassa II Mosque. The entire trip was made much easier by our driver/guide Zaid who was constantly available to entertain our questions about Morocco and and the many places we drove by. His driving was very professional and always made us feel comfortable and safe. He was very accommodating to all our needs and requests and always helped us with our very heavy luggage. Also would like to thank Morocco Expert Tours for making this a wonderful experience for us.

OMG! There is no better company for the fantastic experience our group of 6 enjoyed. Youssef was great at communicating in fast and clear manner to answer our groups many questions in preparation for the trip. We had Mustapha Ait El Caid as our tour guide. Our driver was Hassan Id El Cadi. The two of them shared the culture and daily lives of the Berber people and we felt very close to understanding Morocco and its people. They made our trip unique and heartfelt as we found them to be kind and loving people. We always felt comfortable and taken care of. A few times we asked to stop to take pictures with some costumed children or to take pics of a shephard and his camel and they were super at making it fun. We spent many laughing moments together and felt like family by end of the trip. The Riads we stayed at were all beautiful with friendly staff. For those considering the 12 day tour, every day was a different set of historic, cultural and scenic experiences. Our group kept saying "best day ever!" every day. No two days were the same. From kasbahs to Medina tours to feeding monkeys, to Roman ruins it was all exceptional. The highlight was camel ride through Sahara. The sand dunes are beautiful and the silence is a nice change from normal life. We were shown the artisans of the country from ceramic tiling to rug makers to tanners. Many of our stops were with women's coops for Argan Oil or safran so we felt happy to purchase to support them. We were delayed an extra 2 days in Marrakech due to Air France strike. Yousseff jumped immediately into action to make sure we had accommodations and even rearranged Mustapha and Hassan's schedule so they could drive us and suggested an extra tour day at Ouzoud falls....Please add this to your itinerary! These were the most beautiful falls ever and they arrange for you to eat lunch overlooking the falls. Best day ever! Please enjoy Morocco with Morocco Expert Tours, you will say the same thing. Thank you MEC! Best, Maureen (aka Hannan)

An amazing trip. Everyday was a new and intense experience, and the people at Morocco Expert Tours (MET) made it possible. Our group of 6 (3 couples) did the 12 day Authentic tour, starting in Casablanca, to Rabat, Fes, Sahara Desert, Essaouira, and Marrakech. And because of the Air France strike, we got to add a day trip to Ouzoud Falls, which was one of the top three days of the whole adventure. While everyday was new and fascinating, the bucket list destination was the Sahara Desert. We found MET on Trip Advisor. Youssef was very responsive to each and every email I sent him. It took awhile for me to realize that this was a private tour, just us, and that we could modify it any way we wanted to. The itinerary hit everything we wanted to do, so there was no need to change that. But stuff like wine tasting, sure. Lets’ stop for an afternoon coffee, no problem. Pick your start date, fine. And the cost of the itinerary was a bargain when compared to other, larger organized tours. Youssef also was very helpful when the strike impacted our return flights, by finding alternative lodging and suggesting a couple of day trips we could take out of Marrakech. In our mini-van, we had Mustafa, our guide, and Hassan, our driver. They are experts in their fields. Driving through Morocco is an experience you don’t want to do from behind a steering wheel. Hassan navigated highways, streets and alleys with a deft hand. Mustafa provided historical and cultural commentary along the way. Interestingly, as we were learning about Morocco, Mustafa and Hassan were asking questions back about our experiences and attitudes. It made for a lot of good conversations. Mustafa especially has a gentle approach to people we would come across, engaging with strangers and kids in an easy-going manner. We became a big family during the 2 weeks of travel. In some of the bigger cities, we were handed over to local guides who know the cities and could easily navigate the medinas, often stopping to talk with friends and shopkeepers. As I mentioned earlier, our day trip to Ouzoud Falls turned out to be one of the highlights. You walk all the way around the falls, top to bottom, and back up again. Beautiful. Add it in if you get the chance. For the Sahara desert, the camel ride was about an hour to the camp. We left Merzouga around 5 PM, stopped for the sunset, and then continued to the camp. We timed our trip to get the best view of the night time stars. This meant a night with no moon. It was amazing. The milky way started coming up around 1 AM, and so at 4 AM we were out and snapping pictures. We did have a waning crescent moon start coming up at around 4:30, but it didn’t interfere with the picture taking. The camp was very pleasant, sleeping in fixed tents tall enough for me to stand in, and queen size beds. Very comfortable. Bottom line, trust MET to be very responsive and responsible to your preferences.
