10 Days, Casablanca - Rabat - Fes - Merzouga - Ait Benhaddou - Imlil - Essaouira - Marrekech. Single traveler. It's you and the guide cruising around Morocco stopping where you want and making on-the-fly adjustments to the itinerary as you see fit. Even better is if you came up with a suggestion, they would give their recommendation on it based on what your overall goal was for the trip. So not only are you tailoring the trip to what you want in real-time, but you're also getting expert suggestions, maximizing the experience. The coolest feeling was skipping the massive amount of tour groups and getting into other places they could not get to or being on your own timeline instead of being in a rush or being delayed. Next is the guide. From start to finish, that guide is with you. My guide for this trip was Mouad; this dude was awesome. He is definitely a people person and can read someone well which is important in understanding what exactly you want from the trip. I'm normally an introverted person so connecting with people can sometimes be difficult, but not with Mouad. I cannot count how many enjoyable experiences we had exchanging stories on cultural similarities and differences, joking around while getting a private tour of a casbah, or just sharing a good meal with one another. Another important detail is he was able to read when my social battery was running on empty and was able to take a step back to let me recharge and be in solitude without me saying anything. He is an exceptional guide that is a true professional in his craft. I cannot recommend him enough. Another piece to this is the network of people and resources he has. Any town you go to, if you needed something, needed to go somewhere specific, or wanted to do something different Mouad was able to make it happen. This is something you absolutely will not get going alone, or with a large tour company. Lastly, as a testament to the true professional Mouad is, he invited me into his home with his family to enjoy a mid-afternoon snack and be in the company his family. While leaving the Sahara I mentioned I wanted to get a haircut. At that time we were getting into the town where him and his family were living. So he arranged for his barber to meet us at his shop at the last minute. Because of this, there was going to be a wait, so he took me into his home where his delightful mother brewed some delicious tea and attempted to feed me until I couldn't eat and I exchanged a few short stories with his parents. They were extremely welcoming and really sealed in that unique experience I was looking for. Because I did not want to delay the timeline too long with an impromptu haircut, I decided to forego the Saharan haircut, but the memories I made with Mouad and his family will be one for the books. I could go on about how awesome Mouad is but the bare minimum you need to know is if you're going to Morocco, you need to use this guy. You will not regret it.

Wow! What an experience!! I had a wonderful time traveling around Morocco for two weeks! My trip was very well organized and my driver was very professional. My driver, Mouad, made my trip a very memorable experience by going above and beyond to make sure I was happy and comfortable. Mouad did an incredible job as my tour guide. He was very knowledgeable of the history of Morocco and tailored the trip to suit my interests. Much love Mouad! ❤️ Thanks so much to Hamid for organizing this trip for me!

Our tour started with the person who tied it all together, Hamid, our driver, who made the necessary travel to all the locations both comfortable and a pleasure. The local guides were friendly spending several hours sharing their knowledge with us. The riads that we stayed in ranged from traditional with colorful mosaics to more modern, yet still Moroccan. The common element to all of them were the great staffs that were concerned about our wellbeing and that we started our day off with a delicious breakfast. We may have been able plan a trip on our own but I don’t think we would experienced or learned half of what we did. A beautiful country filled with friendly people. An experience we will never forget. Highly recommend Under Moroccan Sun Tours and thank you for a wonderful time!

My husband and I had a great time! Our driver, Mohammed, was very nice. He showed us all of the best spots and gave us insider tips. While driving, he would share Moroccan culture with us. We always felt safe and happy! Would highly recommend.

I cannot sing enough praise for Hassan and his team. From the first point of contact to helping us manage a cancelled flight on our last day, Hassan and our point of contact in Morocco - the amazing Ismail, made our trip absolutely flawless. My partner and I travelled alone and felt taken care of every step of the way. Ismail, our driver and guide, made the trip for us, offering advice, stories and rich history. We were provided with an amazing personal guide in each city and always felt supported and secure. The hotels and riad's Hassan picked for us to stay in were luxurious hidden gems. Thank you Hassan and Ismail for the most amazing trip. Truly a memory we will never forget!

We had the time of our lives on our vacation to Morocco with Under the Moroccan Sun. A ‘very big welcome’ awaited us when we met our driver/guide, Mouad in Morocco. We were greeted with a big smile, well wishes, and a rose to start our trip. We found Under the Moroccan Sun through Zicasso. Hassan was wonderful to work with. We spoke with him on the phone several times while planning our trip. He always responded quickly when we reached out. The itinerary was based on our interests. Hassan was flexible in making any adjustments that we suggested for our trip. He coordinated everything: driver, tours, accommodations, cooking class, Hammam, etc. We had absolutely no problems with the scheduling of activities or accommodations throughout the trip. We enjoyed all of the activities and the restaurant recommendations that Hassan gave us prior to our trip. Hassan also checked in with us during our vacation. We spent 12 days in Morocco and visited the following cities: Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Fez, Merzouga, Atlas Mountains, Marrakech and Essoura. Some highlights of our trip included: Hassan II Mosque, Fez Medina, Barbary Apes, visit to Berber family home, visit to the local school, camel ride, luxury Sahara Desert Camp, 4x4 through the dunes, Nomad camp visit, Atlas mountains, cooking class, Hammam, goats in Argan trees, beach, and snake charmer. Mouad played a big part in making our trip fantastic. He was kind, professional, responsive, and informative. Mouad made us feel safe and comfortable. We began to feel like he was part of our family. Mouad speaks several languages. He communicated for us throughout the trip. This helped our trip to run very smoothly. He talked with our Riad personnel, tour guides, restaurant staff, etc. Mouad often went above and beyond the itinerary and set up special excursions that were tailored to our interests. Mouad’s extensive knowledge of Morocco and its culture enhanced our experience. We learned so much about Morocco. The hospitality of Mouad and all of the Moroccan people made us fall in love with the country. I can go on and on about the positive experiences with had with Mouad! Overall, the accommodations were top notch. The Salam Fes was an outstanding riad and probably our favorite. It was beautiful, clean, and the service was fantastic. We highly recommend Under the Moroccan Sun (Hassan) and our driver/guide Mouad. Morocco is a very friendly and fun place to visit. We had the trip of a lifetime! Mike

A ‘very big welcome’ awaited us when we met our driver/guide, Mouad in Morocco. We were greeted with a big smile, well wishes, and a rose. The van was clean, spacious, and stocked with bottled water for our trip. We found Under the Moroccan Sun through Zicasso. Hassan was wonderful to work with. He is a native Moroccan who now lives in the US. We spoke with him on the phone several times while planning our trip. He always responded quickly when we reached out. The itinerary was based on our interests. Hassan was flexible in making any adjustments that we suggested for our trip. All reservations were coordinated by Hassan in advance to our trip. He coordinated everything: driver, tours, accommodations, cooking class, Hammam, etc. The itinerary was executed flawlessly. Please note that we did much, much more and every day was more exciting than the next. It’s just impossible to include everything! Mouad played a big part in making our trip fantastic. He was kind, professional, responsive, and informative. Traveling across the world to a new place where we did not know the culture and the language was a little scary. Mouad made us feel safe and comfortable. We began to feel like he was part of our family. Mouad speaks several languages. He communicated for us throughout the trip. This helped our trip to run very smoothly. He talked with our Riad personnel, tour guides, restaurant staff, etc. Hassan, from Under the Moroccan Sun, set up our amazing itinerary. The daily coordination of the vacation was handled by Mouad. Our trip was completely worry free. Mouad followed the daily itinerary. All we had to do was jump in the van and Mouad led us through our exciting days. Mouad often went above and beyond the itinerary and set up special excursions that were tailored to our interests. For example, after mentioning that I was a teacher, Mouad set up a visit to a local school. It was one of the best experiences of our trip. He also took us on a thrilling 4x4 drive through the dunes of the Sahara. That is something we will never forget. Mouad was always on time and the van was always clean with a fresh bottle of water. He was very flexible and his first aim was always to make sure we were having a good time. If we needed to make a stop, Mouad stopped. If we wanted to adjust the itinerary, Mouad adjusted. For example, I asked Mouad if we could stop to get some Coke Zero to keep in the van. Mouad found a store for us. In addition, he checked in with me periodically to see if we needed to stop to buy some more. Mouad’s extensive knowledge of Morocco and its culture enhanced our experience. We learned so much about Morocco. The hospitality of Mouad and all of the Moroccan people made us fall in love with the country. We had an opportunity to stop at Mouad’s aunt’s house and have tea with her and her family. They live in a small Berber community in a valley of the Atlas mountains. What a unique and heartwarming experience! Most of our accommodations were top notch. The Salam Fes was an outstanding riad. It was beautiful, clean, and the service was fantastic. During our visit to Marrakech we stayed at the Riad Spice. This riad was not our favorite. It had beautiful architecture and the room was clean and comfortable. However, it did not hold up to the standard set by our previous accommodations on the trip. As soon as we reported our concern to Hassan, he accommodated our request to switch accommodations right away. Our new accommodation was great. This was one small blip in an otherwise OUTSTANDING trip. We highly recommend Under the Moroccan Sun (Hassan) and our driver/guide Mouad. Morocco is a very friendly place to visit and we felt safe. We had the trip of a lifetime!

This was the most amazing and enriching vacation ever! From the planning to the execution, everything was flawless. Hassan was extremely flexible when we planned our trip to accommodate our family. We saw Casablanca, Meknes, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Atlas Mountains, and Marrakech. Every single Riad was so beautiful, every tour guide was so knowledgeable and forthcoming, And our driver Ismail was the best! We could not be any happier - I will be savoring the memories for a long time!

Everything was very well organized and our driver and the Riyads in which we stayed were wonderful. When we had a change of plans, Hassan was incredibly accommodating to try to arrange the best experience for us. I would highly recommend a trip with this company because they organize exclusively in morocco and are well-connected with guides and make themselves available for any questions that come up along the way!

I started planning or thinking about the trip about a year in advance because we were in a pandemic and I needed something to look forward to. I chose under the Moroccan sun because Hassan was really great at following up. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner and was not pushy at all. He customized the trip to the kinds of things I wanted to do. I preferred to not talk on the phone and he respected this, we emailed back and forth and the itinerary was set. I am a female and was traveling alone so I wanted to feel like I could reach out to someone if needed and Hassan kept in contact with me the entire trip, making sure all was going well. The morning my flight left home my very first text was from him. Such great service! He gave me my driver Ismail’s number in advance so I wouldn’t have any trouble at the airport. The van was so comfortable and nicer than I expected for just myself! I was very impressed. I took so many photos from the backseats. The trip was a once in a lifetime vacation for me. 15 days of nonstop exploration, a vivid photograph at every turn. My favorite was the desert, high up on the camel, so peaceful and then drums around the fire at night were mesmerizing. All the guides I met in each city were knowledgeable and friendly and each was very different- if I had to guess ages ranged from 26 to 76! I really feel like I got to know a range of different ways that Moroccans live and enjoy their country. I appreciated my driver very much as he became protective over me and made sure I never walked alone at night back to my riad. After two weeks in a car with someone you become great friends and I do miss him!

Where does one start after such a wonderful experience?! The trip was perfect from beginning to end. First, the Planning: Hassan worked with me, via email, to build a 9 day itinerary for my two teenagers and I that married my requirements to see some of Morocco, learn about its history, as well as mix in outdoor/athletic adventures. A bit outside the typical 'tourist' lane but Hassan pulled it off without a hitch. Hassan also stayed in touch with us for the duration of the trip to ensure everything was going well and was available if/when we ever needed anything. This included helping us change our itinerary real-time to give us an extra day in the Sahara. Next, the Execution: Hassan connected us with Hammid as our driver/guide. Hammid was kind, patient, helpful, informative and after 9 days together...felt like part of the family. He was an excellent driver, spoke English [and several other languages] well, and it didn't hurt that he had an infectious laugh:). Hammid was by our side [or, at least, available] from the moment we arrived in Casablanca to the moment he dropped us off at the airport 9 days later. Hammid went above and beyond ensuring the little details were ironed out on-the-go. [arranging for laundry to be done overnight, translating as necessary, coordinating real-time requests like skipping a camel-ride and choosing to walk the desert ourselves, and taking us off the beaten path to see/meet nomadic moroccans both in the mountains and in the desert, to name just a few.] Leaving so much in the hands of Hassan/Hammid felt a little unsettling but I'm sure glad I did it. The lodging Hassan arranged was perfect, the food/restaurants recommended by Hammid were excellent, and the activities coordinated by Hassan/Hammid [paragliding, ATV rides in the desert, biking in the mountains, cooking classes, local guides for tours of different cities, etc] made the experience one of the best trips we've ever taken. Thank you Hassan and Hammid!

Just returned from the most fabulous vacation ever! Now let me say, my husband and I are very experienced travelers. We have traveled pretty much the whole world over, from Asia, to all countries in Europe, Antarctica, Australia, etc. And this is by far the best company we have ever traveled with., and Morocco is now our favorite country. So much to say, but I will try to make it short, and I am going to write a full travel review of the country which you can check out for more details. This is about Hassan and Under the Moroccan Sun. But first of all, I must say, Morocco is a country of incredible beauty and variety. I had no idea. Each city fascinating and beautiful. The countryside amazing. And the history! Just as impactful and ancient as Greece or Israel, or Italy. And still quite undiscovered. But safe! The infrastructure is amazingly intact. From good roads, good internet service, and delicious food! I am a very picky eater and often in traveling have to be very careful with what I eat. I can say honestly we didn't have one meal we didn't rave about. We discovered tagines, which are now one of my favorite foods. So delicious! The flavors, and textures and seasoning, the best! Morocco is quite intense, but in a very good way. But as to the company itself --- From my very first contact with Hassan, it was a pleasant responsive relationship. He answered all my emails quickly, usually within hours. Was responsive to my questions, and kind and personable. Always informative and very very helpful. I had lots of concerns with the Covid situation in the world and he was so honest and clear about the situation in Morocco. I also had to make many changes to our plans with the changing atmosphere due to covid and changing flights and cancellations of our reservations. He took this all in stride and was able to make all changes as needed. Never once a complaint. I believe by the time we actually were able to leave on our trip we had exchanged 58 emails! But this was just the preview before the actual trip itself. We did 10 days on this trip. From beginning to end it was smooth, easy, delightful, safe. We chose to stay in Riads, and that was the best choice for us. Very, very clean and beautiful. The best food ever! And we felt we were in the real Morocco. Do come prepared to go up and down a lot of stairs as there are no elevators. But all the riads were beautiful and well chosen. I'll outline the cities in my whole country review. But each one was one very well worth visiting. If you do Morocco, you cannot do it justice without being there at least 10 days. Hassan told me that to start with and he was right. The biggest mention I must make in this review is our driver guide, Ishmail. A more kind, gentler soul you will never meet. And so well informed at every step of the way. I believe we have made a friend for life. He met us at the airport, and was with us the entire time, clear to dropping us off back at the airport for our return flight home. A safe and careful driver also, that was important to us. A very cute sense of humor that my husband had a great time teasing with. He helped me with a medical issue, finding me a pharmacy even when most were closed. I can not speak highly enough of his professionalism, and kindness and help. I felt so well taken care of and informed the whole time. We felt safe in Morocco even in the current atmosphere of Covid concerns. The numbers of incidences in Covid currently are very low, and the country is highly vaccinated. We did wear masks in highly concentrated areas, like the medinas. Ishmail also took us to the lab the day before we went home to get our negative covid test to return home to USA. Very smooth and easy. And last but not least, the shopping!!!! And I must say if you are a shopper and enjoy bazaars and shopping for those special local artesinal buys, this is truly the mecca of shopping. We had more fun going to the souks and bargaining and were able to bring home some real treasures. Nice memories of fun times and gorgeous pieces for all our friends and family to see of our fabulous vacation. All I can say is if you ever want to go to Morocco, and you surely should, Hassan and Under Moroccan Sun will deliver you the most wonderful, safe, delightful, insightful, history enriching trip you will ever experience. Do read my whole country review for more details if you wish. (When I get around to posting it, hopefully soon) Also feel free to contact me. I cannot praise Morocco and Under Moroccan Sun enough. Go with him, and you will be one of many who will have the most wonderful trip ever.

We had limited time so we stayed in the southern area around Marrakech, Erg Chebbi and Essaouira. Hassan was quick to respond and very attentive to all the details. Hassan and Hamid took great care to match what we were interested in and provided an amazing experience. The hiking was outstanding, especially through the Dades Gorges. Since they were from the areas of interest we got to experience so much more than what the travel guide books write about. Hamid always made us feel welcome and you could tell he loved his job! We plan to do the northern area another time and we will definitely be booking with under Moroccan sun again!

Under Moroccan Sun tour company receives my upmost Highest rating possible!! This was a private tour, for me and my adult son, over 10 days/9 nights in May 2021. Our tour of Morocco was custom planned out and professionally delivered, it completely exceeded Every expectation that I could have ever hoped for! Hassan was exceptional to work with in planning the perfect itinerary and recommending superb accommodations, then ensured that it all happened! He was easy to reach out to via texts or calls, always prompt in a response back, and reassuring after some difficulty with my scheduled flights. Our driver/tour guide Hamid was "the best"! Hamid is very pleasant to travel with and we enjoyed his company tremendously! Most importantly he was a very safe driver who also knew the people, the culture and the communities well that we visited. He showed us SO much of this beautiful country, the people, their culture, and their way of life. All of the riads or hotel accommodations that were selected were absolutely top quality, with impeccable service, gorgeous facilities, and where the staff all literally treated us like kings and queens! I would definitely recommend every place that we stayed for other travelers to consider. Our travels to Morocco have left a lasting and warm impression with both me and my son. We loved ALL the places that we visited! The food was also a delight, always fresh and very delicious! One of the many highlights was definitely the Erg Chebbi Dunes of the Sahara Desert! The camel ride and overnight stay in the luxury tent camp is a "must do" while in Morocco. I was delighted with the tent camp facilities and staff which provided some of the best food that we enjoyed on our trip. Another most memorable activity was the morning that Hamid drove us over and into the dunes to visit a Nomad Camp. We got to visit with, share mint tea and fresh baked bread with a family and get a glimpse into their every day way of life. A moment in time not to ever forget, and we thank Hamid for sharing that experience with us! Also enjoyed the lovely countryside in our drive up to Chefchaouen over the Riff Mountains. Had a wonderful local guide Fatima while in Fes, she was a delight and so knowledgeable. Also we had a very good local guide Abdul in Marrakesh. Morocco has a very diverse culture and friendly people. Some of the most beautiful countryside, with coastlines, mountains, deserts and plains. We saw fields of wild sunflowers and poppies growing along side the simpler life of herdsman with their flocks of sheep and goats among the massive fields of wheat and olive groves. I would definitely recommend Under Moroccan Sun Tour Company again for any future trip to Morocco! And I highly recommend anyone to consider the same!

Without hesitation, I would highly recommend utilizing Hassan and Under Moroccan Sun for your visit to Morocco. I had reached out to Hassan a few years ago to help put an itinerary together, but was unable to visit unfortunately. Fast forward to 2019. I found the original email chain and reached out to Hassan again. He picked up right where we left off, helping me put together a great 10-day itinerary for my family of 5 (3 teens) over our Holiday. The plan involved a circuitous route beginning and ending in Casablanca. Along the way, we traveled through in Meknes, Fez, the Middle Atlas Mountains, Ifrane, Midelt, Erfoud, Merzouga, Rissani, over the High Atlas Mountains and Marrakesh. A few things stand out to me. I would say that the people of Morocco could be the warmest and nicest of any country we have ever visited. Also, the changing landscape along the route is truly unique and Erg Chebbi, in particular, is breathtaking-day and night. One may think that while traveling for 10 days in a van (which was very comfortable) though Morocco, something is bound to go wrong along the way. Nope, nothing. The entire visit went smoothly. To this end, I have to give credit to and thank our driver Omar. Omar! We couldn't have asked for a better person to help us navigate our visit and we all miss him. There were also a few surprising visits that were set up for us along the way that really providing an authentic glimpse into the life of everyday Moroccans. We are thankful for those Omar and Hassan.

Hassan El Amrani set up a superb itinerary with excellent accommodations and local guides for the 4 of us (2 couples). Hassan stayed in touch with us through out our tour and met us on two occasions in Morocco including a visit to his sisters home to experience how a typical Moroccan family lives. Our driver Sliman, was first rate; maintaining our schedule despite our often asking for photo stops and taking short side trips he suggested. He remained cheerful despite long sections of major road construction due to Morocco’s major infrastructure improvements. We could not have had a more attentive and pleasant driver. If you have a choice, all 4 of us on this trip suggest you request Sliman as your driver —he’s the best! We started in Casablanca where we met our first local guide Halim who also guided us through Rabat. Rabat is not to be missed. While visiting the beautiful Hassan II mosque he even showed us how he performs his absolutions before prayer. Next day we visited the small city of Meknes, the smallest imperial city famous for its 40 km of walls. Then on to the extensive Roman ruins at Volubilis. Fez was next on our agenda with its famous Medina -the old part of the city. Here Hassan surprised us with our accommodations in the Medina in a Riad, essentially a palacios home converted into a boutique hotel - wow! Again we had Avery good local guide. Onto Midelt, traveling through the Middle Atlas Mountains. On the way we stopped in a Cedar Forrest and got close enough to families of Barbary apes o feed them. The small hotel in Midelt, the Villa Pomme d’Or was great with a tasty Moroccan meal. Day 6 past through the Ziz valley gorges and palm groves in the large Tafilalet oasis; stopped in Erfoud to visit a fossil factory then overnight in modern Riad next to the Ergchebbi sand dunes where many dessert movies are are filmed. The next day we mounted camels for an afternoon journey into the dessert and an overnight stay in luxurious tent — a highlight of the trip. Day 8 departed the dessert got the scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Day 10: Much to see in Marrakech including several tombs only recently discovered, outstanding gardens, and many monuments. This a trip both unique in its scenery sand cities but also educational due to Hassan finding outstanding guides. Cannot find words to adequately describe this outstanding small group tour due to Hassan’s attention to detail and his personal involvement.

Morocco has always been the place I wanted to visit and finally the time was right! Hassan was exceptional to work with. He worked tirelessly to give us a great experience with no unfortunate surprises on our Moroccan adventure. For example, as we were picking dates, he asked if we realized part of our trip would be during Ramadan. We had not, but I am so glad we decided to stay with our original timeframe to experience the Moroccan culture both ways. I say to anyone that they should not shy away from seeing Morocco during Ramadan. Our driver, Slimane, was excellent. His knowledge of the country and the people of all the regions we visited was impressive. He made sure we had the experience we wanted by adjusting our itinerary to our needs. Any issues that cropped up were handled very professionally. The chats we had as we traveled from place to place were most interesting. We started with a driver and finished with a friend.

We enjoyed a full week traveling in Morocco with our guide, Karim, and driver, Mohamed. Karim was extreamly friendly and knowledgeble and turned our vacation into the terrific experience. We started from Tanger, continued to Chefchaen, then spent couple of days in Fes, then Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech. Every place we went we had something that would be special. In Chefchaen we had a wonderful dinner at the local restaurant, in Fes - had tea with local family at their riad and also went to the ceramic factory where our daughter made small tangin, we visited many local stores including place where craftsman’s were making bronze decorative goods and another where Morrocan rugs were knitted. Please note that tours of medina’s of old cities take less time than you would think, mostly because they are small enough to walk through in two-three hours if planned properly - and Karim was very good at it. If you want to do more the same day when you, say, see Fes Medina, just tell your guide ahead of it. Also I want to say that we felt very safe in Morocco, maybe our guide helped us to get this impression, he was also guarding us from unwanted attention everywhere we were going.. Highly recommend..
