Booking with Mahaweli was very easy. I communicated with them via what’s app while I was in the states to plan my trip in Sri Lanka. I was able to customize it the way I like it and even skipping some things that during the trip. I did have some trouble with making a payment with the link but maybe because I was trying to pay while I was already out of the country. The trip can quickly adds up since we had to pay all our admission to everything. When we arrived, we were greeted by our guide/driver Shantha. He definitely made our trip memorable from his knowledge, safe driving skills and kindness! He would get his little treats and had water ready for us during our while trip. His service stood out and made us two girls feel safe traveling throughout Sri Lanka. We were a little nervous with our train ride We highly recommend this tour and if you can, get Shantha!

Remember that the lunch and dinner your guide eats is yours. I don't think there is any point in traveling with a tour. Because the guide has no information about most points. As a tourist from the other side of the world, I know their history more than the people of Sri Lanka. They tried to rip me off a few times (they forgot that I was Turkish). The people they gave you as guides were children who barely spoke English. Their only culture is eating with their hands. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country but a very dirty country. As someone who doesn't get sick easily, I got sick from dirt in 2 days in Sri Lanka.

Our tour guide was very good. All hotels were clean with nice size rooms. Meals at the hotel were fine. The elephant safari was excellent. The major problem was issuing payment for the tour. I was very uncomfortable when on the last day of our tour before we left our guide we were told we had to access cash to pay for the balance. Why was it so difficult to issue payment? We could even a second credit card. I have never experienced such a difficult payment process. Also, we were not informed ahead of time which activities only accepted cash and which would accept credit cards. Finally, skip the whale watching tour. The Indian Ocean is lovely but whales have not been sighted for almost two years.

From the moment we booked until our driver Shantha dropped us off we had the most amazing trip. We even got help to solve visa issues within hours. Our hotels were five star amazing and the suggested adventures beautifully planned. Our Yala safari was spectacular even though the leopards stayed away. I can highly recommend this agency and promise you won’t get disappointed.

Day 1: They took us on an unplanned village tour, charging a total of $70 for two adults and two children. The tour lasted about two hours and was not originally on the itinerary. As a result, we missed Lion's Rock, which was supposed to be our destination for the day. Checking into our hotel took an extra hour that evening because the hotel had not received payment from the travel agency. Day 2: We had planned to visit Minneriya National Park, but the driver and guide took us to an elephant sanctuary nearby without informing us beforehand. When we raised the issue with the travel agency, they explained that the original national park had no elephants in the afternoon, as they had migrated to this sanctuary. While we did see a herd of elephants that day, proper communication about the change in plans was lacking. Day 3: We had a train journey planned, and due to our previous experiences, I double-checked the night before to ensure our tickets were booked. Unfortunately, the travel agency had not reserved our seats. We had to rush to buy tickets at 5 am on the day of the journey. Additionally, the driver and guide mistakenly believed we were changing hotels on the third night, even though it was not part of our plan. The guide had our itinerary but failed to review it properly. Day 4: During our visit to the elephant orphanage, I asked the guide about the bathing time for elephants. He incorrectly informed me it was at 1 pm, but upon checking online, I discovered it was from 10 am to 12 pm. Without our own verification, we would have missed an essential part of our itinerary. Throughout these four days, our driver and guide did not accompany us during any part of the tour. We had to disembark and purchase tickets for every attraction, and there was no guided tour as promised. I truly wonder why we were assigned a guide at all. This travel agency is extremely disappointing, and I hope no one falls victim to their deception!

It was an amazing experience to travel with Mahaweli company! We are delighted to discover the best treasures of Sri Lanka with them! We were able to see amazing locations and live trough various cultural experiences and all the time we were surrounded by the care of our guide that make this trip relaxed and comfortable. I’ve been to more than 60 countries already and planned many different trips and I would never be able to plan trip in Sri Lance better than our company did for us.

My wife and I decided to go to Sri Lanka for the holidays. Our tour guide was Nishantha. He was great - organized, professional and very knowledgeable. We were able to see a lot during our limited time in beautiful Sri Lanka. We will be recommending this company to our family and friends.

We needed to plan the itinerary, but with just a few days and uncertain logistics, we booked the tour. It was the best choice due to the short time. the driver Nandasiri was very helpful and concerned about the schedules. I recommend it for those who have little time to plan and get an overview of the country.

We originally had to postpone our trip from 2020 Due to Covid but finally managed to make it in August 2023 and it was worth the wait! We only had a short time to spare but packed so much in 4days to get a true flavour of Sri Lanka. Our guide/Driver was Janaka and he was fantastic. Nothing was too much and we felt like part of a family rather than clients. Climbing Sigiriya was amazing as was seeing so many Elephants in the wild. Tea plantations and the train ride to Ella were spectacular and the coast/river cruise was fantastic. The accommodation was excellent, especially Serenite Ella with its unbelievable sunrise view. Would definately return probably for Longer. Thanks to Prasad for the booking arrangements. The only suggestion would be to make it clearer that not everything is possible in such a short time. We were up for the challenge but on Day 1 as decision has to be made as to which things can be done. We chose Sigiriya/Elephant Safari/Habarana Show but could not do Dambulla and Village Safari on the same day. Day 1 was a very long day but very rewarding and we were up for the challenge!

Thank you for taking care of us through the trip, and always flexible to accommodate to requests and always made sure we enjoyed Sri Lanka. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without Mahaweli. It was a nice vacation spent in Srilanka organized by Mahaweli tours & holidays. Mr. Amilan, the Chauffer guide assigned for our journey, is efficient, very friendly and cooperative. He took a lot of care in guiding my child throughout the journey. Srilanka is beautiful & worth visiting for its historical places, especially the Buddhist temples. Also, it's famous for scenic landscapes, which can be enjoyed very well on the four-hour train journey from Kandy to Nuwaraeliya. The climate varies from place to place; warm at Bentota & cool at Nuwaraeliya. The distance to cover from one main spot to another is too far; consuming a few hours each time. I suggest the travellers not limit their days, but at least make a plan for eight to ten days, as in each area you can stay for one full day & visit the main attractions as well as the minor spots, or else you may need to miss many minor attractions for time management. I reached out to multiple tour operators in Sri Lanka, and Mahaweli was the first to respond promptly and with great detail. They provided quick and thorough communication. After sharing my itinerary with them, Mahaweli suggested some improvements to ensure I could cover all the important attractions of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Galle, Hikkaduwa, and Colombo in my tight schedule. Despite our flight delay, we found our driver, Chandima, patiently waiting at the airport with our name tag. Chandima proved to be a humble and attentive individual, going above and beyond to make our trip comfortable. He served as a knowledgeable guide, providing in-depth information about the history of the major attractions. Moreover, his vehicle was new, impeccably clean, and well-equipped with excellent air conditioning. Throughout our journey from the airport to Kandy, Mr. Prasad from Mahaweli checked in via WhatsApp to ensure everything was in order. His constant availability made me feel like I had a supportive friend in Sri Lanka, providing comfort and making our trip easier and more enjoyable. Mahaweli also assisted in booking our famous blue train ticket in the second-class reserved seat, which turned out to be an amazing experience. While we enjoyed the train journey to Ella, Chandima took care of our luggage. When my hotel in Colombo demanded an exorbitant price for the airport drop-off, I immediately contacted Mr. Prasad, who offered a vehicle at half the price, saving the day. In general, Sri Lanka is known for its friendly people, but I must say that Mahaweli exceeded my expectations. Their exceptional customer service took our experience to the next level.

My friend and I had an amazing time in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 all the places we’ve been was so magic! the Elephant’s experience was amazing, we had the chance to feed, walk and even swim with them and it was really adorable. the Hotel in Kandy was very nice, with an amazing view and swimming pool! the hiking to Sigiriya Rock was super worth it, the view is just amazing and breath taking! all the temples we visited was so beautiful and full of good energy! the Ramboda waterfall was another big highlight! it’s one of the most beautiful waterfall’s i’ve ever seen! the train ride was also beautiful, full of amazing nature view and green mountains all the way, I really recommend it! Last but not least I really enjoy going to the south and staying at Cinnamon hotel, which is a very nice hotel. However, it’s a bit far from the previous places so we spend a lot of time traveling there to spend only half day. It was great to have the opportunity to spend this half day at the hotel beach though. Chinthaka, our driver and guide, was amazing! He took really good care of us, he is a very nice person, very calm, very responsible and very kind! He has a big hearth, same as all the Sri Lanka’s we’ve met! we want to come back to stay few months here, that’s how much we loved this country! 🐘🙏🏻✨ thanks a lot!

This 3 nights, 4 days tour is such an amazing tour. Mahaweli Tours is very responsive in all our queries. The tour is comprehensive, very affordable. We love the hotels and tour. Most importantly, the driver Thushan was our best ever tour guide/driver. He was very accommodating, friendly and very kind. Such a great customer experience. My bestfriend and I enjoyed the tour. We highly recommend Mahaweli Tours. Wish we could have stayed longer.

It was a good tour! Very well put together! They suggested that we’d change the program a bit and do Ella for the last night which we really enjoyed and would have loved to see more of. The only thing we didn’t like was the spice grows & herbal gardens in Mawanella. Our driver took us to what he said would be the best one, the New Paradise Spice & Herbal Garden, but it felt very much like a scam. They wanted to sell us some fat reducing herbs to give us a ‘natural BMI’ and they wanted so much money for it. It felt insulting, so in the future I think tourist would prefer something more genuine, we thought we would get to buy spices. It’s even written about it on TripAdvisor how they’ve tried to scam other tourist. Or driver also wanted to take away the tea plantation and replace it with a visit to ‘the best’ tea shop in Mawanella, and also make time for a Gem Museum and Herb Massage but we felt we couldn’t squeeze more things into the program as it was. And after ‘the best’ herbal garden in town we were a bit skeptical. And I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on the tea plantation, the views were spectacular. Other than that: we really liked the stays, especially the last one in Ella, and the botanical garden was just lovely. We were a surprised that we ended up in Minnerya for the safari instead of Hurulu as planned. A bit more expensive (no tickets are included, we had to pay $100 each in advance that our driver wired to the jeep owner) but we got to see a lot of elephants so we were happy! If your book it, remember to bring a lot of cash for all the excursions. It a good and intense way of seeing the country. Thanks for showing us Sri Lanka!

The itinerary is very well organized, and is flexible/open to custom tailoring. My driver/guide was Nishantha and he was very professional, helpful, always on time, and a great conversationalist.
