Did the Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty tour. As a history teacher visiting NYC for the first time, this was a must. Ellis Island was amazing and I would for sure return and spend more time there. However, the Statue of Liberty was...blah. We had tickets to go to the top, but something with construction limited access. Yes, we got a refund, but were disappointed as we purchased these tickets months before. It would have been nice to have known construction was goin on all around the base. Glad I went, but not a great experience

David was an excellent friendly knowledgeable tour guide! The “tour” itself I felt left something to be desired as I expected more once inside the Ellis Island museum, maybe that’s my fault not reading exactly what this tour consisted of. Also, not enough time to see the Statue museum displays if you watch the movies offered inside. Wish i was aware of that .

Our tour guide Cecilia was amazing. She had so much knowledge and was so friendly. It was a foggy day but the weather was still really nice.

The Statue of Liberty museum as well as Ellis island museum. All the history that we were unaware of, especially about the stories behind th statute of Liberty.

Most fun we have ever had on a personal guided tour! Charlie is a hoot and incredibly knowledgeable and worldly on everything, including the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Hermes ties!

This guided tour was well worth the money. Our guide, Ken, was very knowledgeable and added fun stories and cultural references to our tour. There were a few interruptions to his presentations and he seamlessly pivoted back to his work after calmly and gently dealing with them. This is our second tour through Viator and we have been satisfied.

What an incredible experience it was to visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island! Our guide Owen was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating information about the Statue of Liberty and both islands that I'd never heard before. The organization of the tour was superb, although the boats could feel a bit cramped at times, so it's important to stick close to your group after disembarking. Overall, it's absolutely worth adding to your bucket list when you're in New York!

Ken was very Knowledgeable about NYC & The Statue’s history along with Ellis Island.. This tour was far better than doing it by yourself. The information provided was excellent. A bonus Ken forwarded photos of our group an added bonus for travelers.

Jason Thompson was a knowledgeable tour guide that was super informative and great at taking pictures for you. He’s born and raised from New York and gave people suggestions on what to eat and things to check out.

We love tours; we find that we learn so much more when we have a tour guide! Pros and cons of this tour below: Pros: guide was helpful, kind and knowledgeable, and managed the group/pace well. The balance between guide-led and personal exploration time was good, even for a family with kids. We especially loved learning about how the American people came up with the money for the base of the statue of liberty. Cons: our guide seemed to have an somewhat Marxist view of history. For example, she opened her Ellis Island remarks with: "Why was the country open for mass immigration at this time? Because industrialists wanted to exploit cheap labor" (which we do not doubt). As a secondary point, she did also mention that some immigrants were fleeing war, persecution or famine. She did *not* say that why some were seeking greater political freedom, economic opportunity, or a higher standard of living, although it seemed to us from the testimonies inside Ellis Island that that also was the case for some people. (Our family includes several first-gen Americans who immigrated for these reasons, so leaving them out struck us as odd.) I don't know if historians have a view as to what the key drivers were for immigration during the Ellis Island period, but without that info, the various drivers should be given equal emphasis. Overall, good, but seemed a little politically slanted.

Enjoyed the lighter history talk. It was highly entertaining and informative. Jett was a very good guide and very helpful. Would highly recommend him.

Owen, our guide, was very knowledgeable about Lady Liberty and Ellis Island. He was super friendly and even made the learning experience fun for our five year old daughter. Visiting the statue has been on my list of things to do for all of my 48 years and this trip did not disappoint.
