Our tour guide was Melissa. She is a grad student at the university studying nature. She was very knowledgeable and we saw birds, hidden hummingbird nests, an absurdly large anthill, butterflies, and walked the nature area within the university grounds where we spotted a sloth (taking a nap of course). She was a delightful guide and her enthusiasm and passion for nature and conservancy was impressive. Super fun tour. Perfect morning.

I did this tour a bit last minute, but I wasn't disappointed. It was great to see such biodiversity right in the heart of the city. Yendry, our guide, was very knowledgable about all of the biodiversity without being overly scientific. She was clearly passionate about her work in biology, as well as her work as a tour guide. She even helped take some great photos of the sloths through her telescope for us! If you like all forms of nature and walking around to explore this, I highly recommend this trip!

We saw a couple of sloths and our guide helped us get the best view. One of the sloths was moving to another tree branch and gave us great videos to show from our trip. Makes for a quick tour before hotel checkout since we completed by 10am after meeting up at 730 am.

Sara was a fantastic guide. She showed us everything from plants to insects, birds and mammals. We were very lucky and saw 6 sloths (one was a very young baby), motmots, an armadillo and more. I highly recommend this tour!

Sara was an excellent tour guide. She was very communicative and she was very knowledgeable. Wonderful experience to understand the Costa Rican Ecosystem. I saw sloths, various birds, spiders, toured the university campus, flowers, and we talked a lot about pollinators. A few interesting facts I learned: (1) Sloths are not slow as portrayed on TV, they actually eat fairly fast (2) Costa Rica has a tree that grows multiple trees in it, very interesting to see and at one point one of the trees chocked the other tree out. I highly recommend this tour! It rained during our tour But this did not stop us. I was prepared with my rain coat and umbrella and so was Sara. Don’t be discouraged if it rains.

Sara showed us so much wildlife, right here in the city, on the campus of the University of Costa Rica, 20 minute uber ride from our hotel in La Sabana. We saw an abandoned hummingbirds nest, hanging nests of Montezuma oropendola birds, leaf cutting ant colony, and of course, sloths! Sara was extraordinary at spotting sloths. We were lucky to see a two toed sloth and several 3 toed sloths. The 2.5 hour tour was filled with interesting sites and facts about the wildlife in Costa Rica.

Just amazing. We had a lovely and very expert guide called Sarah who was so informative and friendly from the start. The whole trip is one I'll value forever. We saw 6 Sloths, two with babies, saw butterfly's first flight from chrysalis. We felt like we were on a once in a lifetime trip. The best thing we have done all holiday. Thank you.

Sarah was a Great guide. Very knowledgeable. Not her fault but bit annoying she had to repeat everything in English and Spanish for the group. Nice small group of 6 people. We more or less all got a chance to look through her zoom lens before birds flew off. And had the chance to see 2 sloths. Interesting walk among the university buildings. Nice way to spend a morning learning about Costa Rica’s local wildlife and diversity in a city. Tour was 2.5 hours. And is walkable from the centre of San Jose in 50 mins. Coffee shops open along the way for breakfast so allow time for that. Re getting back: Sundays no nearby public transport or taxis. But you can call an Uber or walk again. Would be buses nearby in the week.

Excellent tour, knowledgeable guide pointed out plants and birds. She brought a telescope for better viewing. Of course the highlight was the sloths at the end of the tour. They live in a part of the Univ. of Costa Rica campus (not caged/confined). The guide was a biologist and emphasized respect for nature. We lucked out and saw a mother/baby combo. Walking was not strenuous at all--older folks & kids should have no problem; fit people should not expect a workout.

We had SUCH an amazing time! Sara, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and I loved getting to chat with her. Who would’ve thought we’d see sloths in the city of San Jose?! However, I loved how passionate our guide was and how she inspired us to go back and take care of the nature in our own towns. Really cannot recommend this tour highly enough!

I honestly just wanted to see a sloth and got that and more! The tour was mainly walking through the University of Costa Rica campus but our tour guide (Sarah who was great) opened my eyes to so many things that I never paid attention to such as insects, plants, etc that I take for granted. Oh, and we got to see three sloths hanging around (4 actually but we don’t talk about that one)!

Sara was a lovely and amazingly smart guide. She knows so much about the flora and fauna of Costa Rica and the world. She took time to explain birds, plants, trees, special flowers and most importantly, sloths! We saw 3! it's not guaranteed to see one but she made it happen. thanks so much!!! And she made sure we were hydrated--so thoughtful. Highly recommend!

We had a small group of 5 with our guide being Sara. Sara was an absolutely terrific guide, she clearly loved what she was talking about and the environment around us, she was so knowledgeable and helped the group engage with each other. She was approachable and accommodating. The best tour guide we've had in Costa Rica. The entire tour was such a nice surprise, there's never guarantees finding wild animals but with guides like Sara you feel a lot more hopeful.
