We really enjoyed the food tour and spending some time with our excellent guide Paul. The food was amazing, but make sure you go hungry as it's a real feast! It was really interesting to hear about Paul's experience of China as a foreigner living there, and he gave us a real insight into metropolitan Shanghai! Would highly recommend.

The food tour was fantastic - we were guided wonderfully by Paul through the different streets of Shanghai (sad it was raining) but the service and dishes he ordered were phenomenal. We had the opportunity to try different regional Chinese food through the tour and were stuffed by the end, save space for this before you arrive as there is a lot of good food on the tour. I only wish that given the heavy rain, we had the opportunity to take the metro or Didi’s around given the price point but the weather was an external factor. That said, Paul did his utmost best and had extra umbrellas on hand which was a saving grace for us. Thank you for a fantastic time!

Went on this tour with our amazing tour guide Paul, and it was a DELIGHT. I have family in Shanghai and have visited many times, but this tour still managed to introduce me to new things. There's a great variety of food/drink on this tour, and it's very much a snapshot of both Shanghai food history and what's in vogue in the here and now. And most importantly, it is delicious. We literally went back to some locations the day after the tour, because they were that good. Also, Paul as a guide was wonderful. Knowledgeable and patient (even in the face of stupid questions lmao), he made this a great experience for the full group. Highly recommended!

Paul was an amazing host, guiding us through a culinary journey through China by what seemed like a master of the cuisine. And he did a great job tailoring the experience to fit everyone’s dietary preferences and needs. Highly recommend if you want an adventurous night out without the hassle of learning where to go or what to order beforehand. The icing on the cake was Paul’s knowledge of the city. He came through with some great recommendations for the rest of our trip. My one tip (and this was given from the jump): come hungry and pace yourself.

This is by far the best food tour I’ve gone to. Topher was an excellent guide, we tried food from all over China, the explanations and stories/legends behind each plate were great amd it was all around a fun and memorable experience. I’d definitely do this tour again

This was a great food tour one of the best we’ve done. Topher was our guide, and he was very informative and made it feel like we were hanging out with a friend. We had already tried one of the dishes on our own and he switched it from the menu so we could try something new. He also gave us a lot of tips of things to do in Shanghai and then in Vietnam. We took the tour on our first night in Shanghai and it was actually a great introduction to the city and food. Our guide Topher was super knowledgeable in the different regions of China, the food, history, etc. He also shared some really helpful tips for the rest of our visit. He also did a wonderful job accommodating my vegetarian needs. There's no way I would have experienced food in Shanghai the same way without his help. Highly recommend!

This tour was outstanding and it was so good, I would do it again on my next visit to Shanghai! Topher was absolutely amazing and had so so much knowledge! Do not miss this amazing way to see spots in Shanghai you likely could not find on your own as a tourist.

We absolutely loved this tour! It was the first thing we did in Shanghai and was the perfect introduction to different regional foods in China. Our guide, Paul, was chatty, informative and personable. He navigated restaurants and food stalls with ease, all of which were authentic and unassuming places which we wouldn't have found or tried by ourselves (especially given that we aren't mandarin speakers). All the food was outstanding - we especially loved the Cantonese and Szechuan restaurants. We couldn't recommend this tour enough. Not only that, but Paul offered so many personal recommendations for the rest of our trip from his experience having lived in Shanghai for a number of years and it felt like having a friend in the city (Gabi loved the jianbing stall!!). He also happily answered our thousands of questions about life in Shanghai and China more broadly. We also found the recommendations in the welcome pack super helpful. After our experience on this tour, we are going to go on the UnTour Beijing breakfast tour later in our trip. Thanks so much, Paul!

This was an excellent food tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and was able to take us through not only Shanghai cuisine but foods from other parts of China as well which we never would have discovered otherwise! We had so much great food from classic Hong Kong dishes that we are accustomed to, to amazing Shanghai Xiaolongbao to more crazy dishes like locusts and cured eggs. Come on this tour and you will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed a very tasteful and interesting food trip at small, inconspicious sites in Shanghai where we would have never gone to. At each site Paul described with ease and quite accurately the taste of and what might be most typical for this particular Chinese meal, thus increasing our anticipation for the next station. Some minutes of walking inbetween made it easier to stimulate our appetite. Noticing the wide variety of ingredients chinese kitchen uses and being live at preparation made this well managed and guided night tour very memorable.

What a fantastic way to spend 3 hours! I've been living in Shanghai for over 10 years and I must say this tour opened my eyes to such much that I have been missing out on: the history, the preparations, the flavors, the characters, and the all the hidden gems that were unknown to me. The sad part is I'm about to return to the US and wished I spent more time at the restaurants and businesses UnTour took me to. I can confidently say I won't be getting anything like that outside of Shanghai. And even for the people in Shanghai, I'm afraid some of these places will disappear with time as the older generation retires. This is why I feel like it was such a treat and privilege to have been able to experience it and learn from the incredible team at UnTour. Money well spent and looking forward to another tour with UnTour before I leave town forever. Thank you!!!

Our tour guide Patrick showed us 5 nice restaurants with delicious food, which we probably never would try without him. In addition Patrick gave us a lot of background information which was very interesting. Based on our request he optimised this tour to a vegetarian tour.
