Wine Making Experience and Gourmet Dinner at a Boutique Winery in Tuscany
Overview
With a 25 minute ride, a comfortable van will shuttle you to the green and beautiful rolling hills of the Chianti Wine Region, in the Tuscan countryside.
Once there, a wine expert will welcome you and take you for the ancient cellar visit, still used today for wine production. The sommelier will explain the sophisticated techniques of wine making and teach you to distinguish the different and various scents and flavors that each wine presents.

If I had a negative it would be it was a bit commercialized, but that could be as compared to the previous place we went to the night before. Plus, the wine we bought there was actually cheaper when we got back home. Not complaining as we loved the wine, just would've waited to purchase.

First of all, the description of the tour promised things that didn't happen: dinner in a 1000 years old wine house? A stop in Piazzale Michelangelo to see the sunset? An opportunity to buy the wines? He had nothing of that. And though the landscapes were in fact beautiful our van had blackened windows so we couldnt enjoy the view.
Then, there was our guide. The guy was completely lost. We were under the impression that it was his first tour, ever. Although he knew a lot about wine he didn't know how to conduct the tour and keep people interested in what we were doing/seeing. Sometimes he would just disappear and everybody would be looking at each other waiting for something to happen. He was clearly in need of an assistant.
Second problem was the so called tasting. Basically our guide gave us a piece of hard, dry and tasteless bread worst bread I had in Italy with some drops of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and decided to call that a tasting. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and then we were leaving. We were expecting a real olive oil tasting like in the other tours we had been to with different olive oils to compare, discussions about it in a slow ad patience manner.
About the dinner, well if it was any other part of the world I would say the food was OK but for Tuscany actually for Italy itself standards the food was bad. Not to mention that our guide abandoned us in the restaurant and would show up eventually when he wanted.
For the food: The bruschetta was ridiculous a very small piece of that same tasteless bread with one cherry tomato on top. Really, that was it!. The cold cuts were very good and the tomato soup was OK, but the pasta and the pork were completely tasteless. The best part of the pork was the side of spinach.
We had that same tomato soup papa al pomodoro and pork arista in the city restaurants and it was ten times better.
The description also talks about a dessert. There was no dessert at all.
The most important, the wine.
All wines were great, really, we tasted 5 different amazing wines but the problem here was the amount of wine served. Our guide was serving the wine with a dosing nozzle on the bottle, actually measuring how much wine he was serving in each glass! Can you believe that? Wasn't that supposed to be a wine enthusiast dinner?
He would put about a quarter of the glass and then disappear until it was time for another type of wine. I wanted to drink more and when I finally got to ask him, he just questioned me about it, telling me he had already served me the standard amount. What!?
I insisted twice until he finally served me less than a quarter of the glass. We were very pissed with that because in all the other tours we made we had plenty of wine served, they would even put the bottles on the table for us to serve ourselves.
In conclusion, the tour was expensive for what it delivers, it wasn't worth our time and we all ended the day very disappointed. From all tours we had in Italy this was undoubtedly the worst. I would not recommend this tour to any one although I recognize that the company responsible for this tour have everything to make it great, I would love to give 5 stars but we really felt deceived on this one. Please guys, measuring the wine amounts? In Italy? Come on....
I really hope this comment will make them change all this and actually follow the idea they are selling in the tour description.
It was a fun evening out of town. I wish they would have told us the meeting point for the van instead of meeting at the Florence office. We would have taken a taxi so my aging mother didn't have to walk as far. It was an easy walk for regular individuals though! Other than that, it was gre...

We had such a great time on this tasting! The drive out to the castle gives you a chance to see some of the countryside and once you arrive the food and tasting are great. The food was delicious, we got to try some great wines and it was very interesting to hear about winemaking in the region....

The food was delicious, we got to try some great wines and it was very interesting to hear about winemaking in the region. The most incredible part of the evening though is the view. The castle is on a hill which gives you an incredible view of both the vineyards and olive trees - like something out of a movie. We got to go out between courses and see the sunset which was perfect!
had a good time with our adult family. If you already know how wine and EVO are made then you may not learn anything new. Martina was cheerful but rather busy in the adjacent restaurant which had smorgasbord..... Wish we did....because not get enough meat in our dinner!

Amazing dinner and wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting. More food than we could eat and Marisa was very attentive to us and even though we were the only couple that signed up for the tour they honored our reservation. they were extremely aware of my. Garlic allergy and made all our courses from scratch. Definitely buy the honey with white truffles while you are there.
