Discover the wonders of the salt city on a 2.5-hour visit. The tour starts with a descent down the stairs to a depth of 64 meters! The micro-climate of the mine, by the way, has a beneficial impact on visitors who suffer from asthma and allergies. You’ll be led through a number of chambers and see underground lakes, shrines, and salt monuments. The underground labyrinth covers 9 levels at 64 to 327 meters below the surface of the earth. Nearly 2,400 chambers are connected with sidewalks, for a total length of 245km. The mine was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1978. The first tourist trail in Wieliczka was established at the turn of the 19th century. The trail leads through numerous drifts and galleries where evidence of mining activity has been preserved. You’ll also see examples of sacred art and themed compositions relating to the history of the mine and legends surrounding it. Wieliczka is also home to the world's largest mining heritage museum, with a collection of unique pieces of mining equipment reflecting the development of mining techniques from the Middle Ages until today. The tour ends at a level that’s 135 meters below the surface, and you’ll return to the surface by elevator.
• The temperature in the mine is constant (about 14 Celsius), so warm clothing is recommended, even in the summer • There are 800 steps on the way, including 380 right at the beginning • Please note that this tour does not include routes accessible for wheelchairs
Long. Waited on a bus for 25 minutes at the end for other random people to buy stuff at the gift shop. Also the lift at the end was the size of a shower cubicle. They shoved 8 adults in there cheek to cheek during a socially distanced pandemic without any prior warning or consent, which made us really uncomfortable. Only got 3 minutes to look around the main chamber with all the salt sculptures. My group abandoned me while I was getting photos. Not magical tbh. Wouldn't rate or reccomended.
The guided tour was a great way to spend an afternoon in krakow!
Amazing, once in lifetime experience, it was like entering a completely different world
We were picked up at the designated place and whisked away on the 25 minute journey in a lovely clean car. The mines themselves are like nothing I've ever encountered or even imagined! The tour guide was full of insights about the rooms as well as life down in the mines. There is ALOT of stairs (all going down) and you cover alot of distance so comfortable shoes are a must! At the end our driver met us and took us back to where we were picked up.
The guided tour was excellent very impressive and well worth a visit.
lots of steps but totally worth it!
Be aware that at the start of the tour, there are a lot of wooden stairs to descend. I felt a bit panicked at first but it was fine, people took their time. As you go down, there are numbers on the wall. The bottom of the stairs is number 54, each flight was 6 steps. There is a lift at the end of the tour to bring you back up. And there's a restaurant in the mine to rest and have something to eat. It's worth the effort.
Fab value for money, staff very helpful and the guide was informative and funny
Easy booking. Clear instructions. Meeting point easy to find.
Easy to find ticket office, guide very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight to the mines.
Expect lots of walking, but nothing unbearable (had elderly and kids in my group and they were perfectly fine). Most of us took out our coats and jackets during the tour as it gets warm - 2 to 3 layers would be perfect. Tour guide was humorous yet informative; pace was perfect as well. Highly recommended!
Fabulous trip, well worth a visit. Well organised trip with a fabulous English speaking guide.
Excellent tour with a guide who had any information you wanted to know. Good experience but good walking shoes are required as the experience lasts around 2.5-3 hours.
The guide was good
Amazing place to visit, tour guide was fantastic and very funny!
Fabulous visit must see while visiting Krakow
Good but a bit rushed at times. Stairs were not as bad as I imagined, but not recommended for less mobile people. More chance of getting dizzy than tired going down stairs, turning 90 degrees every 6 steps. Seeing carved rock sculptures was amazing especially in the big chapel. Lift back up to surface was VERY cramped. 9 people into a very small cage!
To meeting point είναι πολύ μακριά απ την κρακοβια στη περιοχή που είναι τα αλατορυχεια. Πρέπει να βρεις ο ίδιος τρόπο να πας και δεν συμφέρει
brilliant tour, very well run with an amazing understanding of such a majestic place
good tour but a lot of walking and quite tiring so be prepared for that.
Train is best way to get there.
Amazing trip. Great value for money. I would highly recommend it.
Good day out.
Very interesting. Do not need warm clothing as recommended.
Convenient and efficient
Plenty of walking but amazing experience
Our guide, Monika I think it was, was very funny and informative. This is a must see tour if you are visiting, it's absolutely amazing!
Tour guide was excellent. She spoke very good English. Was happy to answer any questions and made the tour very interesting. A lot of walking and steps so if you struggle with stairs or walking a distance I'd suggest going on another tour. Highly recommended though. It's a very cheap taxi ride, UBER charged about £5 one way from Krakow centre.
Easy to hear and understand, informative guide,
