We have been on numerous rafting trips but none captured the camaraderie as the Animas 3 Day raft trip. All the guides were friendly, helpful and professional. Let's not forget why we came.... for the adventure. You won't be disappointed! From the awesome white water, beautiful scenery, a breathtaking train ride, secluded campsite, great food to fun "wilderness" games; this is a trip you don’t want to miss. 3-day "upper A" Animas River Trip with Silverton and Needleton rafting sections and a "free" day to hike and enjoy Weminuche Wilderness. Spectacular time in a captivating wilderness. The Animas truly provides continuous rapids that were fun and challenging. The campsite along the river was beautiful and the day hike along Needleton creek was amazing. Jeff and the entire team were MWR was outstanding. Professional and skilled with contagious enthusiasm for the river and the wilderness. My wife and I have been on many white water rafting trips and the MWR is one of the best we have encountered in our travels. My friends and I did several rafting trips with Mountain Waters during our stay in Durango last summer, it was great every time. My friends and I did several rafting trips with Mountain Waters during our stay in Durango last summer, it was great every time. The best trip of all was, of course, the 2-day trip on the UPPER ANIMAS which was an unforgettable experience. All the guides really knew what they were doing, provided all the safety and thrill we expected, and were really well organized, thank you Jeff, Tarik, Edith, Marcus and of course Michael who was guiding our boat : really impressive guide, professional, reassuring and fun at the same time. I would recommend 100% and would do it again if I come back... Bravo !Floated the lower Animas River with Jeff as our guide on 7/13. Water was low. Floated the lower Animas River with Jeff as our guide on 7/13. Water was low. The trip was fine, but I was hoping for more higher class rapids than what the river was offering at this time. Nonetheless, Jeff was great and the 2 hour trip in advance of our train ride was just right. The train ride was super, giving me a look at the upper Animas River, which was too low to float at the time. I can definitely see that my next trip to Durango will be in May to mid-June so I can do the upper Animas float. It has class IV and V rapids and appears to be more of what I expected in the way of white water rafting. The only drawback for our float trip was observing the stretch of river from the train on our return to Durango from Silverton. When I saw many people tubing through the same stretch we rafted through, I was left feeling a bit like a wuss. But heck, I didn't know any better when I booked the trip and if I'd have had another day in Durango, I would have tubed through the Smelter whitewaters park. Mountain Waters was great!!! Their people were very personable, very thorough in their instructions and a joy to be around. When I do the upper Animas, they will be my guides! This was not our first trip with Mountain Waters Rafting and each time it gets better. This was not our first trip with Mountain Waters Rafting and each time it gets better. The water levels had begun to drop and we thought our rafting would take place on the mid section of the Animas river. The evening before our departure the water came up and Heather at the Mountain Water office notified us that our original request to run the upper portion from Silverton was now doable! The company made all the last minute changes in the transportation and logistics to make for a great day. The white water experience was fabulous thanks to our guides Edith and Tarik. Safety was never a concern and the lunch was wonderful. Looking forward to our next trip with Mountain Waters and highly recommend.
