Excellent and fun trip. Smaller boar experience was a lot more personal and fun than the bigger boats. It was great going to Lanai for our first snorkel stop- was not expecting that. Boat was fast and comfortable. Seas were a bit choppy but felt completely safe. Crew very personable, skilled, and willing to help. Banana bread and fresh fruit for breakfast and delicious wrap for lunch. Highly recommended.

This was an amazing trip, one of our highlights of our time on Maui! I loved the smaller boat feel so we could turn more easily to follow the dolphins or look closer at the whales. We each had our own seat so it wasn't like we were all squished in. The 2 snorkeling spots were amazing! We saw an eagle ray, a few harmless reef sharks, lots of turtles, pod of dolphins, and lots of whale sightings. The crew was knowledgeable and shared facts with us which I loved! One of the crew snorkeled with us and pointed out things in the water she saw. It was just more personal and the entire crew was amazing!!! We took a larger catamaran earlier in our trip and we all liked this one better! They asked about what drinks we wanted constantly, fruit in the morning, banana bread with some yummy cream cheese (came around twice because they had extra, nice!!), turkey sandwiches which were piled high with turkey, and ended with a cookie. If you want a little more adventure in your life, take this trip! You will not regret it. We did have pretty decent weather so the waves were perfect. They ended the trip with a hot towel (with a nice smell to it as well) to wipe our faces and hands which I was not expecting at all. This was such a nice touch, well done!!!!! This was a five star trip and I would not hesitate at all booking this again. Well done crew. I enjoyed the thoughtful touches to the trip and they were all appreciated very much. All I can say is book this trip and enjoy!

We had the best experience! We saw several whales and even a pod of dolphins who swam alongside the boat! While snorkeling we swam with several turtles, schools of fish, reef sharks (harmless), and even eels. The crew was so friendly, helpful and super knowledgeable and went out of their way to make our experience extra special. The food was also fantastic! I would definitely recommend this local, family owned company!

We had three generations in our party ranging in age from 7-78 and they all had an amazing experience! Shasta was an incredible guide who took us to the beat snorkeling spots we have ever been to. We saw loads of sea turtles, tropical fish, eels and even a shark! My youngest had a hard time with the snorkel mask and they were so accommodating with a view finder and boogie board. The food was exceptional, the tour was well paced and they made it a point to go off course so we could see a pod of spinner dolphins and whales. So much better than a giant catamaran. All seats had shade, personal storage and plenty of comfortable seating. A fantastic experience. Could not recommend this group enough!

Would definitely use again if/when we return to Maui. Crew was very personable, knowledgeable, and capable. Equipment worked great. Food was better than anticipated (especially breakfast!). Even though the conditions were on the windier side the visibility at our snorkel stops was amazing. I was a little nervous about how my 8yo would do, but it went great. For those that get cold easily, during winter months would recommend packing long sleeves and even considering bringing a wetsuit if you have one!

It was great experience. We loved the turtles. The banana bread was delicious. We recommend this tour, for families or couples. No experience needed.

Besides a beautiful snorkeling experience, just being on the water was wonderful and we even saw whales. Boat was stopped and moved to accommodate whale watching. It’s a small company and the staff were extremely thoughtful; passing out sunscreen, fitting you with snorkel gear and checking in to make sure all passengers are feeling comfortable. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going out with Magic Merman since they started in 2919! The boat is awesome, the crew is amazing! They are so friendly, professional and helpful! Always a highlight of my Maui time! So many whales and turtles!! If you get to Maui this is the only snorkel adventure for you!!

This was the most AWESOME tour we have ever been on! The tour is kept to a small personal level so you feel very comfortable and are able to get to know the crew very well. While in the water one of the members hangs out in the water with you for safety purposes and to protect the reef/location we were in. It was most comforting. The food is all homemade and delicious (if you have food allergies they will allow you to bring your own food with you and keep it cold for you.) The tour was customized to the weather and the activity that was happening. We went to a side of the island that was calmer water, not so windy and perfect for snorkeling (snorkeled with turtles!) and then we saw a ton of whale acitivity so the crew took as to the action and we were as leagally and safely close as we could be and WOW 2 breaches, a male pod clammering for the female (at least 9 whales) it was breathtaking. The crew really made the trip so unique and special to us. They were so friendly and accommodating. BTW they have all the equipment for snorkeling (i brought my own) and they have noodles and flotation devices to make the snorkeling that much more pleasant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this group.

The Magic Merman was the best snorkeling experience we have had on Maui. We have been on many others and they do not even compare to the Magic Merman. The staff, and the owners go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Will totally be telling everyone we know about this company. Amazing tour, start to finish. The crew was the perfect mix friendly, informative, and helpful without being over the top, gimmicky, or overbearing as I've experienced on other similar tours elsewhere around the world. The whale watching and snorkeling were great, and the quality of the food and snacks (especially the banana bread) were an unexpected bonus. Would absolutely book with them again!

We had an amazing time. The crew was excellent, but special shoutout to Shasta. She was incredible with my kids, especially my daughter. Very knowledgeable. We saw whales, dolphins, and turtles.

This was a fabulous whale watch experience, and not just because of how impossibly lucky we got when we encountered a competition pod of upwards of 9 whales at once following a female. The boat captain practiced care for the animals (as well as staying the requisite distance as required to protect them) while still getting us close enough to the action to see things you just will not see from the shore! We witnessed breaching, tail and fin slapping, lunging and a host of other behaviors as we trekked the waters off the coast of Lahaina. Male whales would join and tussle with other males to try to win the female. Some put up a fight and stayed with the group, while at intervals, a whale would tire and leave, or another might join in. It was very exciting to see! The captain also took time to find other whales, including mamas and babies so that we could round out our experience after watching the competition run for some time. As an added bonus, we were fed homemade banana bread with lilikoi spread and other goodies. Austin made the bread himself, it was scrumptious. They had other snacks and beverages as well to make it a nice lunch experience. The boat is a coast guard vessel - a hard-bottom raft that is highly maneuverable. I strongly suggest you consider this boat over the less flexible catamarans that are available for whale watching. The price is right as well. Book a second trip and ask for a return discount. Also booked a snorkel tour with them: Wow! They Know the Best Snorkel Spots You Won't Find On Your Own! Review of Ultimate 3.5 Hour Snorkel Pending review I have to start with, WOW! We went on this trip and were seriously thrilled at the snorkeling. We went to two spots - the first was Olowalu. The reef there is breathtaking - the guide told us that this reef feeds the others. It was truly a stunner, with so many great fish and other critters. Accessing this reef by boat was a treat, as you get to the far edge without having to navigate tough surf, lava rocks, or having to find parking, etc. Really wonderful to hop out of the boat onto one of the most scenic reefs ever! The next spot was also spectacular - we went to the old pier in Lahaina. There was a turtle cleaning station (where turtles gather and fish eat algae from the shells and even flippers of the turtles). So many tutles of various sizes, just incredible! We saw a huge eel and then to highlight the trip, a white-tipped reef shark was lurking below! This crumbling reef is just teeming with amazing sea llfe! Accessing this spot by boat was incredible for a number of reasons: The waters edge can be tricky here, with rough surf and lava rocks. Parking is limited at best, particularly because much of that area is still blocked because of the recent horrific wildfires. Highly recommend this tour so you can get to a place that will become one of the places you talk about as your favorites! Emma was our guide and she took great care to examine the reef below to point out things we may have missed. "Anyone want to see a reef shark?" Yeah, she was excellent and made sure we made the most of our time in the water. The captain was able to find whales along our route which made the whole trip very worthwhile. Overall, a most excellent experience on a boat that is quick, maneuverable, and easy to get onto and off of. They have snorkel equipment, and while I used my own, people were clearly happy with the quality of gear provided. Because there is no harbor after the devastating fires, you will need to hop in a dinghy and get transported to the boat - this is not hard and unless you have mobility issues, you should be able to do it without much effort. The crew takes great care to help you on and off.

We had no real plans but happened to get so lucky. We booked through our concierge with no idea what we were getting. Smallish group, hold about 20 people maybe which was nice. Crew was very attentive to all of the guests needs and were as equally excited to see the whales. Had a fabulous time and would recommend them to all!
