This was the best-guided tour my boyfriend, and I have ever taken! First, let me start with how much you get for such an incredible price. This tour was entirely private, and I don't mean it's a small intimate group; besides our tour guide, Nelson, it was just my boyfriend and me. We were driven around the beautiful city in a lovely modern vehicle, which was kept very cool to help combat the Colombian heat and humidity. The tour includes entry into the most iconic and breathtaking landmarks in Cartagena. This tour allowed us to bypass the long lines to enter these many landmarks, saving us at least a few hours, which was better spent exploring other city areas. The tour also includes a little taste of the culture with complimentary samples of local cuisines from local street-cart vendors and restaurants. Now the real highlight of this tour was Nelson! I cannot speak highly enough about him. When he picked us up at our hotel, he was prompt and easy to communicate with; he even included a photo of his face, so we knew what he looked like. Nelson was fluent in English and Spanish and was very accommodating in explaining the various histories and answering questions in both languages. This alone was hands-down the most standout aspect of the tour because one of our goals for this trip was to practice our Spanish. Nelson is also highly flexible and took the opportunity to cater the time to our specific wants and needs. At one point, we realized we had left something at our hotel, and we needed to find an ATM to take out more Pesos, which I highly recommend having a fair amount of before starting the tour as you encounter so many opportunities to purchase from the local people. Nelson, with ease, incorporated this special request into our time without missing any of the highlighted locations. Nelson also took the time to get to know us and taught me things about myself and my heritage and culture that I did not realize had such a deep history in Colombia. Nelson guided us in seeing the heart and soul of Cartagena and the Walled City. Because of him, we got to explore beyond the tourist's vail and truly experience the overwhelming happiness and beauty of the city and its people.Duran-Duran was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and amusing. Great presentation on all aspects of the tour. Couldn’t ask for a more personable guide. Saw parts of the city we wouldn’t have experienced without this tour.

Our tour guide Adalberto was fantastic. He contacted me via WHATSAPP, and was patient as our group got ready to come down. He met our group outside our hotel and had a car pick us all up to take us on the tour of Cartegena. During the tour he displayed a great knowledge of the history of Cartegena, which was fantastic as no one in our group had been there. He explained all the significant buildings and even threw in a joke or two. He was more than happy to provide the tour in English or Spanish. After the tour of the architecture and history we enjoyed a traditional arrepa de huevo (fried dough with an egg center) and a Kola Roman, and then a coctel mariscos (shrimp cocktail), both of which were fantastic. All in all, this was a last minute tour set up the night before and our group couldn’t have been happier with the result. It is a walking tour, but it does not last forever. I would recommend earlier times to avoid a lot of tourists in the city and also to avoid the hot sun in the afternoon. 10/10 would recommend. The extent and quality of the tour were exceptional, and Nelson was knowledgeable, friendly, and was especially helpful with great suggestions when we all started wilting in Cartagena's heat and humidity. I don't think we could ask for a better experience.
