In old times Blankenese has been a small village of fishermen. Nowadays it is one of the most prefered adresses in Hamburg.
The walk follows the (sometimes) steep stairs of the "Treppenviertel" with beautiful views to the huge cargoships and the coulourful sailingboats on Elbe River and the tiny little houses. During this "sportive" walk we also visit some old parks like the "Baurs Park".
Utterly nice Walk. You should be a bit sportive though, lots of stairs and acclivities.
A very friendly, uncomplicated and nice contact, with the rent-a-guide staff as well as with the tour guide.
The gentleman who guided us was very kind and open-minded. He was very relaxed about us being a bit too late. But it was a pity that he didn't took care that all group members were around when he started to tell things, but only spoke to those who walked beside him. We also would've wished for more background information and to walk through the "Treppenviertel" and to get an impression of the cultural history of Blankenese. Without this, it was a nice walk on which we actually saw places, we didn't know before (e.g. the Roman garden), but unfortunately, it was often more showing than telling. It's a real pitty, we expected more for this high price (even though we were able to haggle it down a bit).
The tour was interesting and humorous. We were very satisfied with our tour guide. Mr Ruthe absolutely convinced us. Thank you for two great hours.
The tour was very informative and i got a lot of new impressions, even though I live in Hamburg for over 30 years now. It was a very indvidutal tour with only 2 participants which was great, because we were able to ask a lot of questions. The guide was well prepared and was able to explain everything.
everything was okay
I really enjoyed the tour with Mr Ruthe! He did the tour very informatively, entertainingly and humorously. Since we did book a table in a restaurant in Blankenese, he managed it to end the tour right in front of it! Thank you for this highly recommendable tour!
Normally, the tour is only done from up to 4 participants, but Mr Ruthe guided us (2) with huge comeptence through the very interesting Treppenviertel ("Stair quarter"), nonetheless. He showed us that the quarter is not only a part of Hamburg with pompous mansions, but also hosts a lot of old and picturesque fisher houses. Thank you. We can highly recommend this tour.
The tour through Blankense was very informative and individual.
Mr Rueter was not only very competent and had a very entertaining and calm character, but he also was able to design the tour with its several information blocks so that all participants were able to follow easily and had a lot of fun. Thank you!
It would have been great if the tour would've been more around the Treppenviertel
great tour, a lot of stairs to the top, but the view is astonishing
