The view at the top of Mount Vesuvius is breathtaking, and worth the hike. I wish we had a little more time at the winery but it was still fun and the food was great.

This tour was not as expected. The tour sounds like it is one pick up location, but our pick up was late because of picking up people from 8 different hotels before getting to us, so we were over an hour late to arrive at Vesuvius, so we had to rush up and right back down , was very disappointed that didn't get to do the full trail because of this. We then went to the the Russo vineyard for lunch and wine tasting, they sat us down and poured the wine without discussing the grape or type of wine, and each wine was poured into the same glass. Is that how they really want you to taste their wine?? No much pride in the quality of the wine if you don't pour in clean glasses for tasting to not mix and didn't ever explain the wines. The food was tasty and filling. We then departed and was told we would be back in an hour if no traffic.... But we then started dropping off at all of the hotels, as we got within 10 mins of the drop off point, they turned away from the city and went through long way around a very winding road to drop off at 8 different hotels, adding another hour to the trip (so took 2 hours to return from vineyard because of this), and because we were back late, the driver didn't want to go to the drop off point and dropped us at a different location .... We spent so much time on the bus because of all the pick ups... Would have never reserved this experience if it was clear that there is that many pick up and drop off points making the day a very long day on the bus and not enough time at the mountain. Paid a lot of money to sit on a bus all day, not worth it.The volcano itself was spectacular but the bus ride from Sorrento was difficult. The volcano itself was spectacular but the bus ride from Sorrento was difficult. We spent almost an hour picking up others from different hotels before even starting the 1.5 hour bus ride to the volcano. This is not only an issue with timing but also there were no bathroom facilities on the bus. It just makes sense that any bus tour longer than 1.5 hours needs a toilet to be comfortable. Especially when we finally arrived at Vesuvius and the only bathroom option there was a filthy one inside a store where you had to purchase overpriced items to access the bathroom! Unacceptable. Plus we got stuck in traffic going up and coming back. We determined we were on the bus longer than off it for this day. The lunch and wine tasting at the winery were very good and the food was excellent. It was just a very very long and trying day from Sorrento. Our guide was fine, gave us some history of the different towns we passed going to the volcano. It’s a short but steep hike up to the crater and we had 60 mph winds up there so come prepared. We didn’t use the park guides as we had only 1.5 hours at the volcano most of which was spent just hiking to the top. Great experience summiting the volcano and at lunch but this tour company needs to organize the transportation and timing better. Might be better to take the local train to Ercolano closer to Vesuvius and get a tour from there.Amazing. Picked up near to hotel in Sorrento and taken to Vesuvius. Amazing. Picked up near to hotel in Sorrento and taken to Vesuvius. The guide, Pasqual, was so knowledgeable and seemed very passionate about the risk of eruption to the people who lived near to the volcano. On the basis of Pasqual's knowledge we booked a trip to Erolano the next day. We parked quite close to the top so only a 20 minute walk for us. They gave plenty of time for everyone to walk to and from the top if needed so it considered people of varying mobility. It would be challenging for someone with limited mobility but there is still an opportunity to enjoy fantastic views. It was damp and foggy at the top but i didn't feel cold in shorts and tee. I would recommend a light raincoat just in case and you do need some suitable shoes/trainers though as the path is steep and can be slippy. The views all the way up to the top are breath taking, amazing. Next stop the vineyard. Brilliant. We had a 4 course light lunch paired with no less than 6 different wines and then a tour of the vineyard. We met some lovely people on this tour too and the staff there were very passionate and knowledgeable. I will definitely be ordering some wine for Christmas. Highly recommended. We were collected from our hotel at 09:00 and spent approximately 45 minutes collecting others from various hotel around Sorrento. We were collected from our hotel at 09:00 and spent approximately 45 minutes collecting others from various hotel around Sorrento. Our tour guide, Chinzia, was excellent and very entertaining during the journey with plenty of facts and history about Vesuvius and the surrounding area. After two hours on the coach, we arrived at the first stop, a small shop and bar half way up Vesuvius. It was a welcome opportunity for us to stretch our legs and use the facilities. After a 40 minute stop, the coach continued up Vesuvius to 1000m elevation. Once we arrived we had 90 minutes free time to walk to the peak. The walk was just over 200m in elevation and approximately 3km in total (1.50km up and 1.50km down). The 90 minutes free time was a good duration to do this, with plenty of photo stops etc. The walk was a little challenging in the 35°C heat, but bring sensible shoes and plenty of water and you will be fine. For any drone users, it’s worth noting they have a strict no-fly zone around the volcano. Chinzia continued to provide some interesting commentary during the 45 minute drive from Vesuvius to the vineyard. When we arrived at the vineyard we were looked after by Maria and her team. The wine tasting and three-course meal was delicious. There were six tasters which were served throughout the meal, including a Prosecco to start, a white and a rosé served with the starter, two reds which were served with the main and an apricot liqueur which was served with the dessert. The tasters were quite small, but the staff were happy to top up your glass (if you asked nicely). The wine tasting seemed a little rushed, and we would have liked more information about the wine, tasting notes etc, but we had a great time regardless. Overall, we would recommend this experience and feel it was reasonably priced. A special thank you to Chinzia, who is an excellent tour guide and to Mario, our coach driver, who safely navigated us up through the tight bends of Vesuvius!
