We saw both baby turtles coming out of their nest and later a mother turtle attempting to lay her eggs. The guide Luis was very knowledgeable and had an amazing instinct at guessing where the turtles would come. He was coordinating with other guides to locate the turtles and in the end all the other guides and groups had to come to us because he had made the right call. Luis is extremely knowledgeable about turtles and many other things about nature. He is a very wise and funny and unique man, I very much enjoyed spending time and learning from him!

If you're visiting Costa Rica and have a love for sea turtles, this turtle tour is a must-do. Led by our incredible guide, Luis, the tour was an eye-opening journey into the world of sea turtles. Not only did we learn about the vital role these creatures play in the ecosystem, but we also witnessed them in their natural habitat, which was an experience of a lifetime. Luis showed his professionalism and passion for his work. The tour itself was well-organized, starting on time and with clear instructions and more. Luis tried his best to look for the turtles for us, very impressive. Strongly recommended!

Well worth the time and $50. Free pick up and interesting truck ride thru rural areas for 45 minutes. A short hike thru woods down to a secluded beach. Beautiful sunset and our guide Luis was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We saw 3 large turtles come up out of the water and many tiny babies hatch and return to the water (from other mommas 60 days prior)

It was so cool to see dozens of baby turtles head to the ocean and one mama. Luis, our guide, was quite the character and made sure we saw as many as possible. He was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. It was nice to have snacks with vegan options and water. On the downside, the road to get there is a little rough so those with car sickness may want to reconsider.

Amazing experience, well organized, we saw turtle babies leaving the nest and the adult turtle laying the eggs. It was a fantastic experience. we had small group of 4 people but later other big groups came. Babies leaving the nest and going to the sea are tiny and in the dark not visible so there is a danger they can be damaged by people moving around the beach. It was that sad side of my experience 🙁

We had a great guide in Luiz who explained a lot about all turtle species in CR and found a hatching nest. Later on we watched three moms come on shore to investigate nesting sites. Highly recommend this tour and our guide.

After viewing an amazing sunset and watching baby turtles come out of the nest and make their way to the water, a few minutes later saw a female turtle come up on the beach and dig her nest! Our guide Luis new the best spot to go and timed it so we saw all of this before the crowds arrived. Could not have had a better experience

Good tour. We got lucky and saw baby turtles hatching and heading into the ocean, and we saw one mother turtle as well. The guide was knowledgeable and answered all our questions, but could have been more proactive in helping us learn more about the turtles.

We toured with Luis two days: once to kayak into the estuary before sunset, and then to see the nesting sea turtles. Both were outstanding experiences. Off the beaten track to places we never would have ventured alone, with an experienced naturalist (and world traveler) Luis Ernesto. We arrived to the deserted beach just at brilliant sunset and immediately observed a turtle dragging herself up the beach to begin excavating her nest, and then the deeper smaller hole into which the eggs are deposited. Much later, several large groups showed up and we departed, feeling grateful to have witnessed this ancient ritual of survival.

We got lucky and saw two turtles on our adventure! So cool. However, I would not recommend taking young children unless they are very, very patient. Our kids had a hard time waiting while the guide was looking for turtles. Amazing experience for adults.

Luis is a knowledgable, patient and enthusiastic tour leader. He met us at a local spot in Tamarindo and loaded us in his 4X4 and we set off just before sunset on a nice mid-November evening. The whole way there he explained to us the life-cycle of the Green Sea Turtle, patiently answering our questions. At a certain point we turned off the paved road and headed slowly down a rough dirt path (with stream crossings) until we arrived at a secluded beach, about 45-minutes after leaving Tamarindo. Spraying up with bug repelant and equiping ourselves with flashlights, we made our way to the beach. We waited in our small group while Luis went down the beach in search of a Green Turtle. There was no guarantee that we would see one. We had good fortune in that he spotted a big one making her way back to the sea after an unsuccessful attempt at climbing the steep sand dune. We stayed behind her for 10-minutes as she made her way back to the ocean for what Luis described as a rest. She will likely try again at a different time or a different beach. Lots of pictures were taken in the faint red-light of Luis's flashlight (this colour is the only one we are allowed to use for fear of confusing the turtles). We were all delighted to see one -- Luis said that there are tours where they visit several beaches and do not come across one and other tours where they might see 2 or 3. With thunderstorms looming, we decided to head back. In all, a delightful and informative trip. Recommended.

Tour description shows that we will be picked up. Tour guide had a pick up truck and had 2 other customers in his truck. The road on the way to the beach was horrific. Thank goodness I had a rental SUV that was a 4x4. But did bottom out which caused damage to the rental car. We was able to see turtles but with 3 or 4 other tour groups. Thankfully the other tour guide was talking to his group about the turtles that we overheard. If it wasn’t for that guide we would’ve never learned anything. Don’t recommend

Our guide Luis was amazing. He went the extra mile for us and didn’t stop until we saw turtles nesting. Because of his perseverance we not only saw one turtle but 7 on our tour and took home a video of one of the turtles laying her eggs. It was amazing and would definitely recommend!!

Although my daughter and I didn’t see any turtles, our guide was very helpful and informative. He was also good about letting us know in advance that the turtles were out of season and may not be visible at our location and offered to take us to other spots further away for a better chance at seeing them, just in case. Great experience and we caught an a e some sunset on an isolated beach. Gorgeous!

The guide was the worst driver I have experienced. The turtles were amazing thanks to the second person who met us at the beach. The guide at the last minute presented us a secondary destination due to better nesting. He then refunded us our fee through trip advisor and then charged us double and cash only. He took us two hours though the jungle on the worst roads in Costa Rica and came to skidding stops a dozen different times. We were just happy to make it back safely.

My wife and I went on a turtle watching tour with Luis from Sol Eco adventures. Luis was extremely knowledgeable about sea turtle's nesting patterns and provided us a ton of interesting information on the drive over to Playa Minas, where we were planning to observe turtle hatching and egg laying. Even though we were not situated in Tamarindo, Luis drove out to Playa Conchal to pick us up. We were lucky to see a baby turtle hatch and make it to the ocean that day, before sunset so that we could capture the baby sea turtle's beautiful moment in daylight. Unfortunately, an incoming storm prevented us from seeing any nesting adult sea turtles and forced us to leave the beach early. However, we still felt that seeing that one baby sea turtle's daring escape into the ocean was worth it. Luis was also one of the most interesting tour guides I have met in Costa Rica! He was well traveled and we loved hearing his life stories! We would definitely go on one of Sol Eco's adventures in the future.
