What to expect
We will hike about 7km at a pace that is very easy and fun for hikers of all abilities with lots of short stops for photos and stories.
We will pass by loads small named features with great history and super stories. Our hike includes a deserted famine village and the Móin Rua heathland famous for it's wild orchids.
You will also see the spectacular Cnoc na nGabhar mountain, explore secret trails along the Wild Atlantic Way, visit one of the famous EIRE signs and an amazing Iron Age promontory fort with a secret know only to locals.
When we return, we'll end our time together on Tráigh Liceach a beach that is also a battlefield where we share a couple of fascinating stories about the Battle of Tráigh Liceach and WWI submarine activity around this coastline.

The experience was amazing! Conor took us back in time with his many stories which made the walk much more fulfilling. The scenery was breathtaking!! At the end he served tea and his wife’s homemade Irish cookies, delicious 😋 this is a must in your visit to Cork!

Conor our guide was wonderful entertained us with lots of stories about the area and is so knowledgeable about local history etc. if you’re in west Cork make sure this walk is top of your to do list.

It’s a highly entertaining walk in stunning countryside, finishing with a well-deserved picnic. Highlight was the promontory fort and all the stories that went along with it.
