You will visit the exceptionally large size of the main underground chamber of the Grotta Gigante 98, 50 metres high, 76, 30 metres wide and 167, 60 metres long.

Departure towards the beautiful hamlet of Duino and visit the Duino Castle, owned by the Princes of Torre and Tasso, the castle was built in 1300 upon the ruins of an ancient Roman outpost. The massive complex with its composite architectural style overlooks the Gulf of Trieste. Inside, it houses important works of art and refined historical relics. Over the centuries, it has offered hospitality to many illustrious people, including the poet R.M. Rilke, Empress Elisabeth of Austria (known as Sissi), the Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Charlotte of Belgium. On the tour of the castle and its gardens, guests can admire the forte-piano played by Franz Liszt, the Palladio staircase, the view of the Gulf of Trieste from the top of the tower, the rampart walls overlooking the sea and the bunker built in 1943 by the German Kriegsmarine.

Arrivati alla sera abbiamo sostato gratuitamente con il camper all’interno del parcheggio delle grotte. È consigliata la prenotazione, visita guidata molto dettagliata ed esaustiva, ne vale la pena. Temperatura costante di 11 gradi, abbigliamento comodo, scarpe chiuse. Ci sono 500 scalini a scendere e 500 a salire. Grotta unica al mondo per la sua grandezza e altezza di 98 metri. Costo biglietto 8€ per adulto.Se passi per il Friuli Venezia Giulia non puoi non fermarti al Castello di Duino e alla Grotta Gigante!! Consigliatissimo!!

Il nome è davvero meritato: è una grotta impressionante per dimensioni, credo davvero unica! Se ci portate la famiglia, sappiate che ci sono 500 gradini a scendere.... e 500 ovviamente a salire! Meglio scarpe chiuse (è bagnato) ...
Anche se non siete amanti di questo tipo di visite, vale la pena! Il nome è davvero meritato: è una grotta impressionante per dimensioni, credo davvero unica! Se ci portate la famiglia, sappiate che ci sono 500 gradini a scendere.... e 500 ovviamente a salire! Meglio scarpe chiuse (è bagnato) e una felpa (11 gradi all'interno!)Ottima escursione, sopratutto la grotta Gigante, Grega (il nostro autista) puntuale e cortese. Da consigliare
