Honestly my guide, Miyake Nobumasa was the best part of the tour. He had so much knowledge of the area and Japan history I learned so much! And he clarified some history details I had heard from others, but his explanations made much more sense. Ask him about the jizo's. The whole morning was great. We walked at a good pace. And Miyake was patient as I continually hunted for goshuin. Thanks!

よく奈良市内には詳しいのです、最近では猿沢池周辺に良い小さな店舗ができたみたいで。 近鉄奈良駅を降りると商店街の入り口に自分の同窓生のやってる湖月が有ります。

My mom and I had the pleasure of attending this tour with Naoko as our guide. Coincidently it was just the 2 of us on the tour! Naoko was the perfect guide for Nara. She knew so much about the area, the culture, and took us to experiences we just wouldn’t have had otherwise. Not only did she have an incredible level of knowledge to share, but she is so down to earth and easy to talk to that it made the tour a highlight of our trip. Nara itself is so beautiful and has so much to offer (we had a Sake tasting, looked at a Japanese Toy Museum which was so cool, and of course the incredible temples and shrines). If you have Naoko as your guide we guarantee it will be the perfect experience!!

Naoko Okada, thank you so much for the wonderful tour of Nara, the whole family thoroughly enjoyed every moment even though conditions were a little damp. Your knowledge and kind manner were standout features of the tour and we really appreciated the extra effort you you made in showing us some of your personal favourite places. Highly recommended.

Naoko, our tour guide is very nice and very friendly. She covers a lot of information about the places and able to answer anything we'd like to know. She can speak good English and able to understand without any problem. Would like to recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn about Nara old city from a good tourist guide. Very fascinating tour.

Junko was amazing tour guide who went above and beyond. She waited for us even when we arrived 30 minutes late (after missing trains and getting on the wrong one). She was very informative and engaging, protecting us from hungry deers multiple times. Her English was impeccable and she even took us to a Sake tasting which wasn’t apart of the tour. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou Junko

My tour guide Junko was awesome! She was extremely knowledgeable on the history of this magical place. Lots of friendly deer. My favourite part of the tour apart from Junko was the the Todaiji Temple and the Great Buddha over 15 metres high. The old town backstreet walk was interesting with lots of culture. We then finished the tour sampling food and wandering through the shopping district. I highly recommend this tour and Junko my tour guide

We did this tour with Naoko as our guide. The route takes you through all the must see spots in Nara while still beeing short enough for you to continue to explore the area on your own afterwards. Our guide was a blast to be with and we had a really great time during this tour.

Tour of Nara was amazing. The path chosen was one of the best - we were in and out of temples and walked through a number of amazing nature scenes. We were greeted by many deer! The guide and his trainee took time to explain things to us and made sure to mention all of the cultural references.

A lot of walking and climbing steps, but worth it for the magnificent temples and shrines, the giant Buddha, the entertaining deer, and lovely park. My guide was very informative.

Myself and my partner went on The Essence of Nara tour. We had the most amazing time all because of our great tour guide Masayo! She guided us through a great day with great knowledge of all temples and shrines. Would highly recommend if you’re thinking about doing this tour. So much fun!

Although the walk was long, it was worth it. Even our 9 years olds maintained momentum on this 4hr+ walk, such was the beauty around the walk. Walking up to the Todaiji temple was a real treat with the number of deers roaming around. There are pretty happy to be fed the biscuits provided (for a small price), but group quickly once they get the scent of food. Its quite funny watching tourists getting overwhelmed by the deer. They are beautiful animals though, and in large numbers. They are quite docile, and happy to be petted. The Todaiji temple was incredible, with a 15 metre bronze statue of the Great Buddha, Vairocana. The timber building its in, is stunning also. The grounds of Nara Park are huge, as are the temples and surrounding buildings. It was a beautiful walk with a lot to see and learn about. The lanterns were everywhere, almost haunting, but stunning nonetheless. If temples and shrines, and deer, are your thing, you wont be disappointed. Keep in mind, its quite the walk...but not arduous.

We did this tour in the absolute belting rain, I got soaked to the bone... and I would do it again in a heart beat. Fumiko our guide was so great in showing us around Nara despite the conditions. My personal highlight being the traditional Japanese house in the old part of town. Such a great way to experience Nara.

Our tour guide, Nobumasa Miyake, showed us the cultural areas of Nara whilst giving great detail about its history. His knowledge of the area was impeccable and he made us feel very comfortable throughout the tour. Perfect for people who cannot speak or read Japanese who wish to learn about the culture. A must do whilst travelling in Japan! Lots of sights to see with a comfortable walking pace throughout the tour. Highly recommend this tour! Thank you for the Best Day Ever!

I was fortunate enough to be the only person on this tour, as it was off-peak season. The guide, Miyake-san, was a true gentleman and had a wealth of knowledge about the region - great sense of humour too! Such a great experience in a beautiful part of the world.

Such an amazing little tour - there is so much heritage and culture to learn from. We had an amazing tour guide - Nobumasa Miyake. He spoke from the heart, with great English. Answered our questions and took photos of my partner and myself at the sites. He made us feel at ease whilst giving us full detail about the heritage of Nara. The temple price was included in the tour fee and we didn’t have to pay additional. Nara is definitely a place to visit.

The tour was fun and our guides are very expert in history. We've learned a lot of things and experienced new things. Because of my mother health issue, she couldn't walk that long and far but our guides were very helpful and slowed down the pace just in case my mother need a rest. Unfortunately we skipped a few places because of my mother's health issue so we needed to go back to Kyoto soon but we really had a great time in Nara!
