Yantis (sp?) was a personable guide with lots of good information abut the various occupations that happened in Greece and Crete, and the affect on architecture and culture of the people. He showed and explained the differences between the old and "new" sides of the port. In the market, he pointed out the unique Greek foods for sale, and got 3 different stuffed pastries for each of us. We sat for Greek coffee, tea or other beverage in one of the portside cafes and later had raki and appetizer plates (cold cuts, cheese and vegetables) at an outdoor café in a neighborhood center. Even the food/refreshment was presented in the Greek way.
Antonis showed us around the market, with samples of local fare, then it was off to wonder the streets of old town. He was a wealth of information and passion for his home town. A great four hours, adding a great deal to our appreciation of Chania, and its history. This is a must do tour.
Thanks to Yiannis it was a great way to feel at one with Chania and because he's a local he conveyed his knowledge, respect and love of the area in the most friendly and fun-filled way.
Yiannis also assisted others in our group with ideas and locations to enhance their holiday in Crete.
Yannis was great. He is a local and really knew the history of the area. Taught us a lot. Great food and wine, too. Highly recommend.
So much learned, so much fun and much good food. Our guide Manos was a delight! This tour was a great value for time spent and cost. Highly recommended!
Our guide was Yiannis, a Chania native, and he was excellent! Thorough knowledge of the history of Chania, great places to eat. We DID NOT want to have lunch after this tour was over! We were full! Went to the beach Yiannis recommended and just chilled for the rest of the day. Start of a very relaxing few days in Crete. Felt I was really understanding Cretan culture with Yiannis.Would just suggest you leave plenty of time to find the meeting place in front of the Chania public market. This is an obvious place if you live in Chania, but if you don't, best to plot it out on a map the night before, and/or have hotel clerk help pin point it. We were late for tour because we got a little lost. It is about 4 or 5 blocks inland from the harbor. Crete has a way of making you immediately want to start sleeping late!
Ionnas aka John was the greatest tour guide of our 15 day trip through the Mediterranean. We'd give it more stars if possible. He was passionate about his city and shared his love to the 3 people on our tour. We got more than our money's worth from the first stop inside the Chania Municipal Market to the last sampling Raki in the local's gathering spot outside the church. This is a must do tour!
Giannis has been a great guide! As the date suitable for me was before the start of the season I was the only person who enrolled for this tour and I was so happy the tour has not been cancelled as it has happened to me in other places. The tour shows the history and the development of a beautiful and old city as Chania in a very interesting, pleasant and delicious way. The route is wisely made with stops at the most proper moments. I enjoyed every single moment of it and felt as if friends are showing me the city! Highly recommendable!
This tour was amazing!
Great way of orienting us to the Chania and meeting kindred spirits !!!
We had a WONDERFUL tour. It was slow-paced, but in a good way... we got a tour of the big history and the little details from a very very nice and knowledgeable local, John, who clearly loves his city. Our tour was enhanced by two couples who were already friends from Turkey and another lovely tour guide from Rethymnon who took her day off to better know Chania. By the end of this wonderful tour, we sat down for Raki and Mezedes, and ended up staying and all talking far longer than initially planned. This tour has colored our entire opinion of Chania in the best possible way.
Excellent tour and tour guide! I can't remember his name Chris?, but he did a great job explaining the history and culture of Chania.
We had our tour with John who was an amazingly knowledgeable young man. He shared so much history of Chania and Greece with us so the we had a good understanding of the background of what we were seeing. Introducing us to local beverages and foods was wonderful. He was able to give us some great suggestions of what we should see and do with the rest of our time on Crete. The pace was pleasant and I would highly recommend this tour.
We loved this tour. It was extensive and very informative. We had a lovely time with Irene from Urban Adventures. She was patient and very knowledgeable. We were lucky to have her all to ourselves. It was one of the best tours we have been on. Chania is a beautiful city!
We had a great time with Yannis in Chania. He is a very personable and knowledgeable guide, giving us very good insight into the history of Chania and Crete. We enjoyed meeting some of the remaining craftsmen in town and it was very apparent that Yannis is well respected by them. Very memorable!
Excellent tour and our hippie Yiannis was fantastic. He showed us through the streets of Chania and fed us along the way with traditional Crete offerings such as Raki, Medezes, sweets, breads and of course coffee. Yiannis was very knowledgeable about Greek mythology, history of Crete and current politics as well, he answered all of our questions to perfection. He also helped bring the group together by keeping the conversation flowing. I would highly recommend this tour on your first day in Crete as it will put everything into perspective and ensure you enjoy your stay however long or short

The tour was amazing! Irene was very detailed about the history of chania, and took us to see the best city views, local food and raki tasting, we got to see very unique places. Very happy I came across this tour offer. Thank you!
