Anna was our very calm, knowledgeable guide for a most interesting 3 hour tour of the Hermitage. Even though it was incredibly crowded inside, the ear phones provided, made all the difference.
Very informative tour of Hermitage.
Guide was excellent.Very good and clear English spoken.Tour was with Marina Wilson .Highly recommended.
Anna was our tour guide, she was polite and so knowledgeable. This your way exceeded my expectations The three hours passed so quickly and we learnt so much
The tour was well-organized, we even got an e-mail from the tour operator a day before with all the info and reminders which was very appreciated. The tour was not really an early access as our particular group was in the museum past 10.30. But we didn't need to wait in line anywhere and our guide Lesa was very knowledgeable and with very good English, she was able to guide us around most of the tourist groups, so we had great experience. We were only three people in the English speaking group on that day, our couple and a young lady from Finland. So the tour was almost private. We also were lucky as the museum was not that crowded as usual. We are very happy with the tour and would highly recommend it.
Really good 3 hour overview tour of this fabulous and enormous museum. Our guide was excellent and his English was perfect. Highly recommend this tour
Fantastic tour. Tim was amazing! Super friendly, exceptional knowledge. The muesem is huge. Absolutely huge. Don’t try to do this without a guide. Highly recommended
We were in a small group (4) for our tour of the Hermitage and we were grateful for that. Our guide had a wonderful knowledge of the Winter Palace, the Hermitage and the various and extensive collections on display. It was well worth it.
We booked our group tour one day in advance. We arrived early, met Margarita and waited for other booked participants. None arrived, so we were off on a private tour! I had visited The Hermitage 40 years ago, with no guide and one hour to visit. We had “early entry” and Margarita immediately lead us to empty rooms which would shortly be packed with visitors. She knew the strategy for having the fewest tourists near the for exceptional viewing access. Beginning with the initial highlights she tailored additional rooms and exhibits as she learned our interests and preferences. A thorough tour in three hours of the Winter Palace, Hermitage and connected buildings. We next visited the General Staff Building, beginning with coffee in the cafe. The next 1 1/2 hours we focused on the extensive Impressionist Galleries and several special exhibit galleries. I am fairly familiar with that era and was thrilled that Margarita has extensive knowledge of this specific collection. She is an exceptional guide and I highly recommend her.
It was a very well-chosen, comprehensive route, Eugene-a very good, professional guide, with solid knowledge of art, passionate and sure of him. It was an excellent time spent, which will keep our Hermitage in memory for all our lives. Thanks to Eugene, thank you "Marina Wilson Private Tours".
We are regular museum goers whenever we travel and wondered why we should take a tour at The Hermitage. Honestly I don't think we would have survived our first hour there without this amazing tour. There are thousands of people in the galleries and you will be guided through the crowds to most of the major art works. Our guide was very well informed, kind, patient and full of great stories about the art. Don't hesitate.
An excellent tour, and well organised in terms of meeting point, contacting me etc. Tour guide Valeria was excellent - very patient and knowledgeable. If you want to have a focussed visit of the highlights of the Hermitage, book this without any hesitation. Otherwise it's so huge you may miss the best parts. Highlight recommended.
This small-group tour of the Hermitage was one of the best group tours I've had. Our guide was so incredibly knowledgeable and she was patient with us taking photos and needing to take a quick break for coffee. This was definitely worth the money to spend!
We took this tour with a guide that only takes very small groups of 8 people and it was very good. the Hermitage is a Museum that you cannot miss if you go to St Petersburg it is an absolute must.
The great advantage of a small tour is that you actually get to hear what the guide says! Our guide, Marina, a joy. She was enthusiastic, not averse to answering questions of any sort, has her own opinions and is delightful to watch as she throws her arms around, pirouettes and points! We were a group of 4 only and the Heritage is a large building but we managed to see a lot, and understand the nuances of Russian history. For me, the art was okay very European ..but the history is fascinating. I strongly Recommend a small tour anytime!
The Hermitage tour was a priority for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our guide Tim, was well organized, highly knowledgeable on art and history and an altogether enjoyable person to spend time with. We are very pleased with our choice and we highly recommend.
Tim, the guide did a superb job in taking us small group of 5 through The Hermitage. He showed us a lot of stuff which to me, was enough considering the size of the place and also an option to wander after. I think his knowledge, his professionalism, and what we saw was enough I didn't need to see any more! We were all clearly satisfied with Tim! Awesome job!
Had no idea that our small group was going to be just my family and I.... but hey it was great. Our guide was very good and covered the areas that would be crowded as soon as the museum opened. It would have been nice to see more of the statues and other things because I discovered I could only look at so many paintings before I just didn't care any more :- The rooms and building was amazing.
Aside from a private tour, the small-group tour is the only good way to get through the crowds in the Hermitage and see a lot of the collection. Our tour guide managed to pack in a lot in the 2 1/2 hours of the tour. And, of course, the Hermitage is amazing!
Just what we wanted. Early entry to the Hermitage, a knowledgeable guide and the first hour or more without the crowds.
We had the museum/palace to ourselves for the first 11/2 hours. Great guide, very knowledgable. Obviously she just picked out some key exhibitions but I was very satisfied and would recommend wholeheartedly. My gide was very helpful even giving me some pointers for the next day via WhatsApp when I asked her.
The tour and the guide were absolutely grate. And I would recommend that people take the tour early to skip the line and the crowd. Our guide she was so nice and knew so much, and she was so cheerful and smiling. We had a fantastic tour.
The tour was fabulous. There was just the two of us and our guide. She was able to steer around the crowds at busy points and told us everything we wanted to know. Our guide was a charming lady She seemed to love her job and her city. We thoroughly enjoyed the hours we spent with her.
Elena, our guide was so profession and informative, without her guidance we would not have been able to experience so many wonders of the Hermitage. Elena was able to negotiate the crowds and ensured that we maximized the enjoyment and gained insights of the history of the Hermitage. It was truly an unforgettable morning.
This was our first visit to St Petersburg and we had heard a lot about the Hermitage and the Winter Palace, so we decided to take this tour, we were lucky that we were the only 2 people in the group and our tour guide was TIM, Let me tell you something about Tim, he was knowledgeable, articulate and most importantly passionate about art, history and culture, he took us into a journey with stories of the kings, queens, princesses and made it all fun and enjoyably. he was soft spoken and clicked photographs for us as well. in short it was a memorable tour. would love to tour again sometime soon.
Excemment tour. Extremely knowledgeable guide. Well worth it.
The only way to see this museum is with the art historian guided tour. The hours melted away and it was over before we had a chance to get tired.
We were lucky enough to be the only 2 on the tour. Irina was excellent. She met us on time and took us into the Hermitage via a nice discrete entrance - away from all the crowds.
She paced the tour well, with just enough time appreciating the various aspects of the complex i.e. the architecture, decoration and content. We're not really arty sort of people but found the 3 hours just flew by with an excellent mix of all that the Hermitage has to offer. Her knowledge and humour really made it a special occasion for us.
If you really want to enjoy your visit to Hermitage and avoid a 2-3 hours' queue, you should book your visit through Viator. I came to see my Brazilian friends in St.Petersburg who were touring around Europe, I booked a tour at the Hermitage through Viator with a Spanish speaking guide as they didn't have a Portuguese speaking one and never regretted it. The online booking process was straightforward and I got my voucher online with contact details in St.Petersburg. I spoke to our Spanish guide Maria to confirm our meeting and we met at the Alexander Column on the Palace Square in front of the Winter Palace. She accompanied us to the entrance, we were given hearing devices and entered the museum. The hearing devices help you to hear the guide and you can freely move around the halls or listen to the guide on a bench while she is with other tourists at the painting. I know the history of my country, but Maria's knowledge of the Russian history was very profound and broad. My guests and I walked with Maria through the halls for about four hours with open mouth listening. Charming Maria was patient and accommodating to our requests and answered to all our questions in depth. We wanted to spend the entire day at the Hetmitage with her, if not our plans for the day. Maria even looked for and called a few restaurants to book our lunch after our excursion nearby.. Pity, that Maria couldn't join us. All in all, don't think twice if you want to visit Hermitage, book it through Viator. It's really worth it. I'm Russian and you can trust me on that.
The guide met us at the proper time at the easily found meeting point. She had a paper card with my name on it. It took a few minutes to get sorted and get our tickets and she gave us an excellent tour. She was great.
