I had an excellent experience. This was my first trip to the Grand Canyon, the ride from Phoenix to the Canyon was good. I got to see a good part of Arizona. Bruce our driver was great. The timing was perfect, we went to about 4 lookout points, the views were amazing. We spent enough time at each lookout point to take in the views, take pictures and take in the moment. I had a great time.
My husband and I came to Phoenix for a long weekend trip and didn’t want to spend most of it driving so we decided to do the tour. It was a great choice and we loved learned the history of Phoenix. We had plenty of rest stops and the ride was nice. We highly recommend this tour!! And our tour guide was awesome. Thanks for a great time!
Stephen D was awesome!!! He was probably the most thorough guide we have ever had. Stopped when needed for bio breaks/food and stops were clean.
His breadth of knowledge related to Arizona and then the Grand Canyon were amazing!
Would highly recommend this tour.
Seeing the Grand Canyon from a helicopter view. Seeing the stratas of color and history was awesome. The guides on and off the ground were great!
This was my first booking experience with Viator, they did not disappoint.
Let me start by saying Chantel, I apologize if that's not the correct spelling, is THE BEST tour guide ever! She added her own personal touch to the grand canyon experience, she's a wealth of knowledge and shared many facts/stories about canyon. Our tour group as a whole were a great group of people. Throughly enjoyed this excursion, request Chantel if you book!
Most memorable parts of the experience was the breathtaking views and Bruce explanation of each place we stopped at. We would definitely do it again.
2 things, first the excellent information that Mac provided on the way to the canyon and second, the experience of actually seeing the canyon and being there.
I would definitely recommend this tour. We were called the day before to confirm pick up time at our hotel, and the van was on time. It's quite a drive from Phoenix but we stopped when needed for bathroom breaks/food stops. John was a great guide! He kept us entertained with lotsss of history and knowledge about the area and the canyon. He knew every spot to take us to for the best views, then left us to wander independently for a couple of hours. Well worth the cost to be stress free and able to take it all in. Also, make sure to check the weather at the canyon vs in Phoenix or Sedona- big difference! It was about 20 degrees cooler/windier for us. Re COVID19: Masking was required at the canyon but optional in the van. The canyon gift shops/food concessions were modified with limited people or serving outdoors only and lunch options are definitely limited.
The small group on our tour (7 guests) made the trip very enjoyable. Our guide, Bruce, was very knowledgeable and took us to many great locations to, from and at the Grand Canyon. It’s a long day but so worth it!
Our tour guide was "AWESOME"!!! (Mac) He was very knowledgeable, considerate. We really enjoyed the day.
It was a really nice trip. The guide Mac, was really good and knew a lot about the Grand Canyon. I can really recommend this trip.
Excellent your guide!!!!! Please book this! It was well worth it. A research trip. The tour guide was super helpful and kind! We did not get left behind.
I enjoyed the tip. The guide was knowledgeable and fun. It was a long day but worth it to experience the canyon in all its splendor.
It was awesome. The trip up was full of informative talks by our guide, sufficient rest stops along the way. Lots of time for photography when at the canyon- we were left to wander, visit exhibits, shop at 3 different areas. Didn’t feel rushed around at all. It was a cold day, but we’d been warned so came on the trip prepared. Our guide Andy was awesome.a walking Wikipedia!
We had a small group on a cold day in March. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative and provided great information throughout the day. The Grand Canyon was just spectacular and the long day travelling to and from Scottsdale was well worth it.
Great trip - Derrick was a fantastic guide - kept us informed and entertained at every turn - very knowledgeable about all things Phoenix and Grand Canyon
We had a fabulous time with Mark as our tour guide. He was very informative and had a great sense of humor! The weather was perfect and he took us to multiple viewpoints. Highly recommend!
Derek was a fabulous and personable tour guide. He is an excellent driver and knew times for when we would be arriving at the different locations on the tour. He was knowledgeable on the Grand Canyon and it was clear he enjoyed his work. Couldn’t have been a better experience. Thank you Derek.
We had a great experience on our trip. The driver was knowledgeable and very friendly. While we stopped in William for a break, I twisted my knee stepping off a curb. After that he made sure to drop us off as close as he could to all our stops. While the rest of the group went to the second stop at the Grand Canyon and there was no wheelchair available there, he took me with the bus to 3 observation spots so I could see different views. It was so nice of him. We enjoyed it very much!
From an on time pick up to an early evening drop off, Daniel was an amazing tour guide. He spoke so well on the history, plants, animals, weather and culture of the area. I learned so much which enhanced the trip.
There is no way we would have been able to appreciate and learn so many amazing bits of information
if we had another tour guide. Sam is passionate about the Grand Canyon and his passion is contagious!
His objective was to interact with all 12 of by providing interesting facts and answering questions. He was very conscience of our safety, comfort, and keeping us on a schedule.
Thank you Sam! You’re the BEST.
A perfect trip for one day. The unique nature must be seen once in the lifetime. This is as easy as it can get.
There are no words to describe the Grand Canyon! It is indescribably spectacular! But there are so many beautiful words to describe our tour guide, "Sam". He is not an ordinary guide; he is an outstanding tour guide. He knows the history and and science behind all the wonders of the Colorado plateau of the Grand Canyon of course! He has some personal stories and but he was able to articulate the difference between those stories and validated facts. As my daughter said, "Sam illuminated the entire Grand Canyon tour experience". Additionally, we did not feel like we had to rush and can't see enough. So I'll give this tour and Sam an A+.
One of the best tours I have been on. Not just because the Grand Canyon was spectacular but our tout guide was incredibly knowledgeable and I enjoyed all the interesting facts throughout the trip. He was very polite and made us all feel very welcome. Keep up the great work!
Guide Daniel did an excellent job and was very well informed, caring and passionate about the country he was showing us. Would have liked 3 or 4 hours at Canyon.
Excellent tour, enjoyed the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Also had the best tour guide, Mark. Very knowledgeable.
We took this small group trip up to Grand Canyon for the day out of Phoenix. Steven our driver and guide was excellent. Everything was very well planned out and Steven had so much interesting information about history, AZ, etc all along the trip. We really enjoyed it. We had debated about driving ourselves but its a long day so really nice to have someone else do the driving so we could just soak it al in. Highly recommend !
what a great trip we started early got to go and see route 66 then we went off to see the grand canyon what a great view of the canyon also we order lunch for the tour company and for the price it was great also i like to thank andy of tour director the was the best
Great Day! Our tour guide Jason was excellent. He was very very informative about all the different areas we traveled through as the terrain changed on our journey. Definitely a must do tour when visiting the Phoenix area.
What a day we had up at the Grand Canyon! Having read some mediocre reviews prior to leaving for our trip I was concerned about the length of time in the tour van and the comfort level, but let me me dispel those issues. While it was quite a journey to and from the Canyon our tour guide Les was awesome! Les’ depth of knowledge towards the Canyon, Native American history, local and greater Arizona geography, along with other topics that could be pulled into discussion was unbelievable. Les’ constant lessons on all topics were welcome, funny, and really helped to pass the time.
The van itself was comfortable, the seats were fine as was the AC and heat when we needed it. There was also an unlimited supply of bottled water. We also stopped a couple times on the way to Williams and on the way back to Phoenix for rest stops and a chance to buy snacks, drinks, a quick dinner, etc.
Our first major stop, a brief visit to Williams (45-60 minutes) was more than you could need to take photographs, walk the main strip, and hit a few shops. It was in Williams where Les picked up our lunches which were also fine (nothing spectacular) but certainly of value.
From there we made a brief stop to drop off the guests who opted for the helicopter ride and then it was off to the main stop at the Grand Canyon adjacent the El Tovar hotel. Les had had said many times how you will be unprepared for that first view of the Canyon and that no photo or video you have seen will have done any justice to that first view. My wife and I were skeptical given how much he was hyping it up but were honestly astonished and left speechless by how awesome it really is. We had almost 2 hours there I would say and it was an amazing experience I won’t soon forget.
From there we had two more brief stops at other lookouts to get different viewpoints of the Canyon and some more history.
The trip back was a time to chat with the other visitors in the group, read, sleep, etc.
I cannot speak to the quality of the other Viator guides so if you get the chance book with Les (he said he covers Tuesday’s and Thursday’s), you will not be let down.
-bring layers as the temperatures can really range
-bring a book, iPad, etc., to keep you occupied if you aren’t one to chat with other guests/to fill the down time on the ride back
-grab a coffee/tea and snacks for the ride up. You are picked up just after 6am and don’t stop for a couple of hours
-bring a charger/extra batteries for your camera
