The Palatine hill was chosen by Romulus as it was deemed to be the best of all the 7 hills of Rome thanks to its ideal and central position.
The Romans, as other ancient civilizations, tended to choose the high grounds close to rivers for their early settlements.
This gave a strategic advantage in case of military attack as well as against the frequent floods of the water streams.

Highly recommended to visit by way of a tour guide , we had a guide called, Lorenzo. Very nice guy, funny and fluent in English. He even took pictures of couples.

I finally made it. Rome is my favourite city in Europe so far and I have been there 2 times but only this last time I managed to visit the Colosseum. Colosseum was the first thing on my to do list even the very first time i came to Rome but after I saw the infinite line i just wasn't ready to los...
I finally made it. Rome is my favourite city in Europe so far and I have been there 2 times but only this last time I managed to visit the Colosseum. Colosseum was the first thing on my to do list even the very first time i came to Rome but after I saw the infinite line i just wasn't ready to lose hours and hours waiting to enter. This year I was lucky for finding the right people, the best service at the right time and I made it to get inside, to be part of the tour, of the story, to see Colosseum not only from the outside but also from the inside. These guys are great, very friendly and the most important part they know the place so well that i feels like they know everything and that is why I also decided to do the guided tour. First we visited the Arena as you can also see from my picture :) and then I decided to also do the underground tour :). Once you get the chance you just take it all ;)carlafC3520RI
