Overview
Snorkel in between two continents at one of the top diving sites in the planet! Silfra is located in Iceland’s National Park, Thingvellir. It is a fissure that was formed by the divergent tectonic drift of the Eurasian and North American plates.
What makes Silfra exceptionally unique is not only its geological significance, but it is also world-renowned for its crystal clear, fresh glacial water. This is constantly fed with a steady stream of 100m+ visibility drinkable water that creates the unique bio-diversity in this fissure.
We are the only operator in Silfra offering both drysuit and wetsuit together. This means multiple people in your group can book their preferred option.
We include photos as standard so you don't have the hassle of handling your own camera, but you are welcome to bring one! Our guides have all been doing this for years and know the best spots to take pictures of you and your group.

What to expect
Itinerary
Meet us at Thingvellir National Park, about 50 km from Reykjavik. Once you have met your PADI divemaster certified guide, he or she will be going through the procedure and safety measures of your tour. After, you will put on your gear and head to an exotic underwater canyon/fissure, Silfra, created as the continental plates drift apart at a rate of about 2 cm per year. Silfra is a freshwater fissure where you can see at least 100 meters ahead of you. The water here is so clear and pristine it feels like flying. The approximate time in the water is around 40 minutes. Before leaving you'll have a delicious hot chocolate prepared by your guide for the day.
We do have the option to pre-book a wetsuit on another listing. Booking a wetsuit is recommended for people who want to have the chance to dive down or who are scuba divers without the required certifications for the scuba dive. For the wetsuit it is recommended that you are a confident swimmer, if you are not then the drysuit is best for you. To cater to everyone's desires we are the only company that has wetsuits and drysuits allowing them to be in the same group.

Additional information
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not wheelchair accessible
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems
- All participants must know how to swim and be comfortable in water
- All participants must be able to communicate in English
- Please note that that dry suits can sometimes feel quite tight and constricting, especially around the neck and wrists
- Minimum age is 12 years, please reach out regarding younger participants & Participants over the age of 65 need to get a physicians approval
- Be at minimum 150cm (4’9) tall / maximum 200cm (6’7) tall, and be at minimum 50kg (99 lbs) / maximum 120kg (264 lbs)
- Don't wear glasses, instead bring contact lenses or your own prescription mask (if you have one)
- Most travelers can participate
- Recommended to bring a change of clothes (the drysuit has a very small chance of leaking)
- We recommend wearing long thermal underwear and thick wool socks a a base layer under the drysuit
- All participants heights, weights and age must be provided to local operator. If you do not provide at time of booking, please contact supplier immediately after booking to provide this information
- All participants will need to fill out a medical form before participating in the tour. Please find a link to the medical statement on your ticket voucher right after booking the experience to be sure if you qualify.
- Please dress according to weather - no heals or jeans
- Note: Each guide can assist one group of up to six participants at a time. Up to three different groups can be present during this activity.
- Not recommended for people with claustrophobia (Wetsuit can be a better option if you are)
- All our equipment and vehicles are thoroughly washed and sanitized after each use.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 12 travelers
- Confirmation will be received at time of booking

This was such an amazing experience. I couldn’t believe how clear the water was. I stayed very warm considering how cold the water is.

This had been a bucket list item for me for ages - and it didn't disappoint! Even on a wet, cold, April day the team ensured everyone was geared up with the right amount of good humour, then led us to the water. Dorys led our group (5 in all) and was careful to keep an eye on everyone whilst taking loads of pictures. I checked today (3 days later, over the Easter weekend) and they were already uploaded for me to see. I think around 25 pics of me, me with the group, plus a few general shots to help with the memories. The dive itself was amazing, the water is every bit as clear as the pictures imply. It was cold, but not uncomfortably so. To be honest the views made you forget about any discomfort. Would I recommend going with Adventure Vikings? You bet I would.praspate

I'm sure others would have a different experience. Our experience was one where only half of us actually went onto snorkel. The company tool extremely long time in getting us ready when the temperatures was -10C. Other companies came in 30 min later and were in the water within 30 min. This ...
I'm sure others would have a different experience. Our experience was one where only half of us actually went onto snorkel. The company tool extremely long time in getting us ready when the temperatures was -10C. Other companies came in 30 min later and were in the water within 30 min. This vendor had many more customers and they did not seem to care about clients. Looking back on it. They did not plan for the weather and did not change how they took care of their customers. My teenage boys did end up with minor frostbite, but they said they would do it again. So the experience once in the water was good. However, the company needs to improve the experience prior to getting people into the water.Amanda_C

What an incredible experience! We were a group of 2 couples traveling to Iceland and came across this tour. We were lucky enough to have had Arturo as a guide and he was so knowledgeable and entertaining! We did the excursion in March and although we had a nicer, sunnier, winter day, it was pretty cold! They supply you with all the gear needed, it is just required to wear tight fitting bad layers. No issues with any of the equipment, they actually kept our entire bodies dry which was incredible. The only thing that gets wet is the part of your face that is exposed outside of the goggles and your hands (although in gloves) get pretty wet and cold. Parking and meeting up with the guide was simple and easy. The hike from the vans to the fissure is very short as well. The snorkeling itself is incredible but actually quite difficult. You need to eat well and be hydrated before because it takes a lot of energy! The views are incredible under the water. The water is freezing but your body immediately acclimates and it is far more bearable then we thought it would be! It was a wonderful touch that they take photos and then provide them after. They even gave hot chocolate when we got back to the van after the excursion! Overall, we would recommend this tour especially with Arturo
