Did you know that Soweto is the abbreviation for „South Western Townships“? A highly historical place symbolizing the era of the apartheid.
Following the traces of Nelson Mandela, who lived in Soweto from 1946 to 1962, you are going to see the Mandela House in Vilakazi Street and further iconical places like the Hector Pietersen Memorial and the Kliptown Open Air Museum. In the Diep Kloof township you will experience an authentical impression of life in Soweto.
A thing you should not miss is visiting the largest football stadium and the biggest hospital troughout Africa. Passing Taxi Rank, the busiest place in town, you can have a closer look at the artfully designed Orlando Towers, two former cooling towers.
