Sherlock's Secret Challenge - The puzzle solving game that shows you the city

Overview

The puzzles are similar to those you would find in an escape room. Instead of escaping a room you will be working through the story of Arthur Conan Doyle's time in Edinburgh, learning some interesting tidbits along the way.
We are different to most other treasure hunts because we provide a physical bag and the entire game is played using a combination of objects along with permanent features of the city.
You will only need your phone to contact the game master if you're stuck or need help.
This is a small business and a work of passion created by some local tour guides that love games.

Inclusions

  • Instructions and backpack with materials and puzzles
  • 19th century map of Edinburgh

What to expect

Itinerary

A game, a walk and a different way to learn some history.

Together with your team you will have to make good use of the kit provided to work through all the puzzles. Each will let you know where to go next, you will collect some interesting tidbits on some of the characters you’ll meet along the way before the grand finale. Logic, deduction and walking are big parts of this game.

The game will finish in the West End of Town. The duration varies greatly from group to group, most groups can finish in under 3h but for some groups its a lot more. You will be in touch with the host via WhatsApp so you need to bring a phone with internet access. Help will be offered throughout by the host but its up to you to ask. By joining you are committing to returning the kit and the end location.

We take groups of up to 7, we think its best with 2-5 players. Children 12 or under don't need to pay a ticket. The game is complex and we think its not a good fit for those ages but parents know best.

Unfortunately it was too cold and wet to finish for us but was very enjoyable. Will do this again with more people next time.

This challenge was great fun. My family and I were very surprised at how much we enjoyed it. Sabi is a great host and she ensures you have everything you need to explore the city and find your clues. If you get stumped she is just a text away to help you out! I would recommend this adventure!!!!

Fun way to explore Edinburg! Challenging and a great way to see the city and learn more about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our Sherlock’s Secret Challenge. Great puzzles to solve and the organiser provided the right level of clue, only when asked. Kept our 9 and 10 year olds interested. Took about 3 hours but it could be done quicker or spread out if breaks were taken for snacks or meals.

We had a nice time, even though the weather conditions were really bad (strong wind and rain). Sabi was great and gave us useful clues whenever we were stuck. The game is probably easier when the group is a bit bigger and there are more minds working differently to solve the different riddles (we...

We love escape rooms so this was perfect for us! A way to see the city whilst having fun! Puzzles not too tricky, not too easy and a wide variety. Sabi was a great host, giving just the right amount of clues at the right time. Totally recommend and will do other ones next time we visit!
