What a treat for the whole family. Spooky but not too spooky, Dan was an amazing guide and left us wanting more!

We did the tour with Josh and it was great, despite the rain staying with us for the whole tour. Josh was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged with his stories of ghost and history. We booked a private tour for our group of 11 people for an extended family birthday get together. Mackenzie was a fabulous storyteller captivating us all with the perfect blend of history, folklore and humour. 
Everyone was really blown away by the tour and we are still talking about it just over a week later!

What an amazing start to our stay in York! Dan led us on a fantastic walking tour which we booked for our first night in York. The actual walk gave us a nice introduction to the area and Dan’s story telling was absolutely brilliant, the tour was very informative about the city’s history too. I enjoyed listening to all of the ghost stories and really enjoyed my evening! Thanks Dan for your brilliant and informative tour!

Had a great time on the 1.5hour ghost walk. Josh was very engaging and entertaining. Kept our 10 year olds attention all the way round. Josh was knowledgeable and we learnt lots of facts about Yorks history and the different ghosts. Visited places we wouldn't necessarily have known about as we went up side streets and back alleys. Josh delivered the stories well, both creepy and theatrical, but also respectful with some comedy aswell. If your looking for a ghost tour for families pick this one, you won't be disappointed.

The team were very accommodating and the stories gave us a deeper understanding of York's incredible history and some of the atrocities that occurred during through the ages.

5/5 for us! It was very entertaining and light-hearted, despite the creepy stories! A really good turn out for a cold night! Josh was a brilliant guide! He was very knowledgeable! We had a great time!

Absolutely amazing. Our guide, Josh was fantastic. He really entranced the group with the story telling side of things. Very interesting and extremely kind. My mums disabled and he made sure to guide her in the right directions to where she could get down on her mobility scooter and he would always wait for my mum and (family) to catch up and then continue discussing everything. A very very wonderful guide 1000% recommend. Thank you for being so accommodating!!

Really good, fun tour. We took a range of ages from 8 upwards, and all of us really enjoyed the stories that Josh told. Would recommend to anyone on a family trip.

Josh was an absolute expert on all things spooky and all things York, and made the experience well worth it despite the terrible weather! He made every effort to accommodate a disabled member of our group and kept the tour light and humorous despite the fairly macabre nature of the topics discussed. All in all a 10/10 experience, can't recommend it enough!

The most fun!! Our guide Dan was brilliant..... Very funny, very theatrical and very learned. I would highly recommend this tour... It was definitely the highlight of our stay. Definitely a ten!

The York ghost tour is quite a crowded market so which one do you go for? Well we did two, this one and Mad Alice as we thought Alice would concentrate on the bloody side while Shadows on the ghost side, and we were pretty much spot on, as there was very little crossover. Being a week night, it was a small group for the tour (single figures) but apparently the next night was going to be a full house by all accounts so booking is certainly advisable, particularly heading into a weekend. Our guide for the evening was Dan, a larger than life character with a booming voice who would give Brian Blessed a run for his money, despite clearly struggling with a cold, and only having a small number to entertain, he didn’t let that detract from the theatrics, the stories, and interacting with the group, in fact he was quite pleased as the small number meant he could give it a little extra personal touch and wander down a few nooks and crannies that wouldn’t be possible with a full group. Without giving anything away, the stories were great and Dan was the sort of raconteur and Bon Vivant that’s made for for the job, the tour is excellent value for money, and if you’re after a ghost tour with a smattering of history and humour then Shadows should be first in the list.

So many ghost walks to choose from this was pot luck and we weren’t disappointed, well delivered by Dan and extremely informative and interesting. Just over an hour and a half was good value for money. Good fun

Dan was an amusing and informative tour guide. The stories were funny, strange and scary in equal measure. Dan obviously loves his job and delivers the tales with humour and knowledge. The rain did not dampen his enthusiasm or our enjoyment of an entertaining evening.

Great atmosphere, amazing history telling and very interesting way of expending a part of the day doing this tour. We totally recommend it
