$920 AUD ( 2 ppl) for utter disappointment. We have used Viator multiple times and have been happy customers- until now. Its a shame this tour is even permitted to be advertised here. What an absolute rip off. Not recommended to visit the gorge via this tour. They included a "pick up and drop off from our hotel" which sounded great and perhaps justified the cost. But no, we were picked up by the guide who took us to the tram stop- the ticket we paid ourselves. Perhaps he was taking us to a pick up spot? But no, we ended up at a public bus terminal, only to be asked to pay for the economy bus ride ourselves as well. Public transport in Japan in amazing, but for the absurd tour cost, I expected a private car atleast. When we got to the Gorge, I noticed there was no ticket or payment system to enter the site. The walk itself was beautiful and I was hoping something else would be included, but at the end of the tract, an additional boat fee was expected of us- again as an additional cost. We had a simple and decent lunch, again paid for ourselves. At the end of the tour, we were "dropped off", more like walked to our hotel. We paid almost 1 thousand dollars to have a an "English Speaking" guide to walk with us! He did not have good command of English, barely could keep up a conversation and provided no historical benefit whatsoever. We were left feeling absolutely taken advantage of. There are plenty of sites with detailed instructions on how to get to this amazing place. But heed my advice, you are better off doing it yourselves! Learn from our mistake.
