What to expect
Neighbouring the famous Lake Rotorua, our Scenic Lake Rotoiti Day tour offers both an experience in two of New Zealand’s best kept secrets.
Paddle past the cascading native bush admiring the classic kiwi baches dotted along the cliffs and coves. Learn the myths and legends of the Maori people linked to the area while exploring the quiet lake and it’s abundance of birdlife, before entering the glow worm cave. Glide further across the lake before you arrive at the Manupirua Hot Pools which are only accessible by water. This gives you a chance to relax with the locals in the natural geo-thermal pools while you admire the beauty of your surroundings.

Myself and my partner completed the ‘starlight gourmet kayak tour’ from Rotorua on New Years Eve and all we can say is wow! The whole process right from the booking to the experience itself was a truly seamless stress free experience. Our guide, Saracen, picked us up from our accommodation in Rotorua which was extremely helpful for us as we didn’t have a car with us and getting taxis to and from may have been difficult given that it was New Years Eve. Right from the get go, we got on with Saracen really well, he was extremely knowledgeable and professional and had us laughing and chatting from the beginning putting us at ease and making us relaxed. The kayaking, hot pools and BBQ was so enjoyable and the food was so tasty! The staff working at the bar were also great fun, which added to the experience! Couldn’t recommend the tour enough it was the best way to spend New Years Eve and I can’t wait to come back if we have visitors to New Zealand 😊 thank you all at Waimarino Kayak Tours!We have visited Rotorua many times and were looking for something different to do with our teenage boys this time around. We have visited Rotorua many times and were looking for something different to do with our teenage boys this time around. Starlight Kayaking Tour on Lake Rotoiti was a real highlight. Josh and Frosty were awesome guides - very approachable, friendly and great senses of humour but we always felt very safe in their hands. The hot springs were fabulous - a real hidden gem - and the boys enjoyed being able to cool off in the lake too. The trip home across the lake via the glowworm cave whilst the sun set and night closed in was awesome. A special experience we will all remember for a long time I'm sure.Perfectly paced evening kayak with Jack.
