Deriv eer arrived on time at Hotel. Left for Ronda and it started to rain. Driver stopped at a store so we could purchase rainware. Met by Ronda guide and visited bullring and heard history and then went to old city. Very knowledgable guide. Took mountain roud to Marbella and had excellent lunch and saw local fair. Returned to Malaga on time. Very safe and polite driver and the tour was well worth the money. While our driver was a nice man he didn’t speak English and never said a word to us. While our driver was a nice man he didn’t speak English and never said a word to us. We spent at least three hours in the car driving through areas and had no idea what we were seeing. We were later told by his friend, who speaks good English, that he was just the taxi driver. When we arrived in Ronda we were handed over to a tour guide, who spoke English, and while he was extremely knowledgeable snd we enjoyed our two hours with him, it was clear that a large tip was expected. We were on a HAL cruise with Malaga as our port of call. We were on a HAL cruise with Malaga as our port of call. I have wanted to visit Ronda and its iconic bridge for a long time and since we'd previously visited Malaga this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Our driver, Jose, was waiting for us at the pier as we disembarked. It was still a little cool (60ish) but a lovely ~1 1/2 drive through the countryside to Ronda. Upon our arrival we were met by our guide Anna for the included 2 hour walking tour. Unfortunately, her English was spotty, she had a very heavy accent and she really struggled with our questions. I feel as if she probably knew the answers but her command of English was such that she didn't understand our questions. After our two hour guided tour we were given an hour of free time to use as we saw fit. On the drive back to the ship we made a stop in Marbella for an hour of free time with the beautiful people. If your interest is high end vehicles and attractive fashionably dressed people you'll be disappointed in the lack of time here. We spent the hour enjoying a vino tinto de verano at a lovely sidewalk cafe while we watched the parade of the 1% pass by. Ronda is a lovely town and the bridges (there are actually two) are striking. Marbella seems to be the Beverly Hills of The Costa del Sol. Jose did an excellent job driving and pointing out sights along the way but Anna's inadequate command of English made what should have been an excellent day into a merely acceptable one. My intention is not to fault Anna. I suspect she is an excellent guide but she was not the correct guide for this tour. I should also point out that there was an accident impeding our return trip but Jose did an excellent job of finding alternate routes to ensure we made it back to the ship on time for embarkation.Pepe ( Driver) picked us up at the Malaga ( AirBnb Appartment) as promised. Pepe ( Driver) picked us up at the Malaga ( AirBnb Appartment) as promised. The ride was 1 1/2 hours, but Pepe was very informative along the way. Once at Ronda, we met our guide Mohammed. He was incredible!! He was so knowledgeable and spoke 4 languages. we are in our 70's and the walk could be demanding at times, but Mohammed allowed us to set the pace and allowed for rests as needed. Ronda was incredible. A definite must see. The free time on Marbella Puerto Banus is perfect.
