January 2020—We had an amazing private 2-day Rome tour with Max of ItalyRomeTour. It was the highlight of our 2-week tour of the Mediterranean. We are pretty savvy vacationers, but there is no way we could have ever had covered as many sites or territory on our own. Max was the perfect guide: organized, knowledgeable, informed and charming. Door to door each day was an adventure filled to the brim with the rich history of Rome. He had all our tickets ahead of time, we never waited in line, and he timed each location for a well-planned day. He came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Definitely an expert at his craft and the highest caliber guide. He has a unique gift for gauging your interests, and always has additional information on his i-pad, like a museum curator, to support and further illustrate the history he was sharing. There are only a hand full of events in a lifetime that truly mark your soul. The two days we spent with Max were one of those moments. His knowledge of Rome, it’s layers of history, and Max’s kindness made for a truly memorable visit. Max had an ability to make us feel like we were the only people in the city and that we were truly “friends not customers”. He ensured we felt welcome at every location we visited, while ensuring we understood and appreciated the depth of historical significance the relics and monuments we visited held. My husband and I planned a fairly last minute trip to Italy in May 2019 that also included our 21 year old son. Because it was fairly last minute, we relied on a lot of suggestions from family/friends on where to stay, what to do etc. One of our friends said that he highly suggested hiring Max as our tour guide while we were in Rome. Thank goodness we listened to him! After being in Florence and Sienna for a few days before that, which were much more compact and easier to walk and a slower pace, arriving in Rome was a whole different story. It was much more spread out and busy and the lines to get into the Colosseum and the Vatican were 3 hours long each. But no worries for us because we had Max, who is a licensed tour guide, driving us there and we literally walked to the front of the line and walked right into these places! That in itself was worth every penny (especially in the heat), but on top of that, Max (and Levio) were super nice and knowledgeable and we learned so much more than we would have on our own. Being driven around everywhere was so nice because we didn't have to worry or think about what we were doing and could listen to them talking about what we were seeing while they were escorting us around. We weren't ever tired, exhausted, frustrated, etc because we were in good hands! All 3 of us agreed that if we had not hired Max, we would not have had as good of an ending to our trip and Rome wouldn't have been the same experience. Thank you so much to Max and Levio for 2 great days in Rome! Also, Max went above and beyond and hooked us up with a local tour guide for our day in Sienna and Levio drove us back to the airport on the day we were leaving. Hire Max when you go to Rome! I have several friends that have used Max and his company over the last 10 years. Everyone of them told me that if you are ever Italy you need to hire him. I can say that Max lived up to the hype and we really enjoyed spending three days with his company. We did the typical sites in Roma and Max also took us to Pompei and Sorrento. We would never been able to see all the places we did without hiring Max and I think we spent about 10 minutes total over three days waiting in line. Typical tourists wait hours just trying to get into the Vatican or the Colosseum. If your time is valuable and you want to truly enjoy Roma and Italy without all the headaches than pay a little extra get the best guide company I have ever had the pleasure of using.
