Overview

On this half-day tour from Manaus, you’ll head to an ecological park to see the Amazon’s famous Victoria regia water plant; have lunch on a floating river restaurant and visit local native craft stores. Cruise down the Rio Negro to the Meeting of the Waters, the location where it meets the Amazon River. Be awed by this natural phenomenon, where the Rio Negro’s black waters and the Amazon’s muddy waters flow separately for a few miles.

Downstream the Negro River: Leaving from the port in the beginning of the afternoon, the tour visits three sights going downstream the Negro River, the Janauari Ecological Park, an area of preservation where it’s possible to taste the wonderful amazonian cuisine, besides visit the exposition of handcrafts made by local artisans, visit the Lili Water Lake (Lago das VitóriasRégias), through a pleasant walk on a catwalk**

After, the tour visits the Catalão Floating Community, where the houses and everything else are floating, showing how the caboclo communities adapt themselves to live in the forest. Stop on a floating fish farm to see the Pirarucu fish (Arapaima Gigas), the biggest specie of scale fishes from fresh water, natural from the Amazon.

Tour company didn’t turn up, we only found out after we called them to find out where they were - they had cancelled the trip. We ended up booking a private trip with Louraturisto and that was great but we’d already wasted half our day.

This afternoon cruise in the Rio Negro was excellent! The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke Portuguese and English! Fishing Pirarucus in a environmentally friendly way was amazing! The meeting of the waters is gorgeous!

The tour was held with a flat boat , not with that - two deck - presented in the brochure. This made impossible for us to see the different colour waters flown in parallel, as we were almost at see level with this boat. No dolfins at all and the ecological park was a rather unsafe construction, ...
