This was the perfect food tour!!! I am not a very adventurous eater but loved everything we had and will be trying a lot more food because of it. I left feeling like I had seen more or Iceland and having a better understanding of the food and culture. Benedict Frank Palmason (our tour guide) was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, engaging and made the tour spectacular!!! His personal touch and stores had me feeling like a local of Reykjavík!!! Thank you for a wonderful time Ben!!

Burger was an amazing tour guide showing us all the local cuisine on a personal basis. He didn't just show us the top restaurants. He showed us his favorite restaurants that included a more local feel. I would highly recommend this tour and I highly recommend Burger!

10/10 recommend! Fun guide, great to meet other travelers, cool restaurant visits (and we went back to two of them on our own later to try other foods), and got to try some delicious and interesting food. Learned a lot about Iceland culture, but not as much Icelandic history or Reykjavik history, but still a great tour!

This was a really fun experience for my teenager and me. We tried food we wouldn't have ordered ourselves and the group atmosphere made it more fun, even for a couple of introverts. Our guide, "Minty", made sure to include everyone and did a great job. We did try horse meat which tasted like beef but was a bit of a shock since I hadn't read anything about that being a possibility. Minty gave everyone the choice to try it or have something else, nobody forced us at all. The only "drawbacks" were not knowing which restaurants we were going to or what the food would be. It also might have been nice to have a little memento, even if it was just a business card, from the restaurants to remember where we went. Aside from my young teen and me, the others in our group included another older teen, a college student, a young girl around 8 years old and the rest were adults and everyone seemed to have a really good experience.

What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Reykjavik! Stefan was a funny, intelligent, and engaging guide who made our walking tour an enjoyable experience. We had a great group who tried everything (yes, even the fermented shark...skol!), and was treated to wonderful food, company, and history. If you only have a limited time in Reykjavik, make sure this is the FIRST tour you book!

Noki’s warm and welcoming spirit as well as his knowledge base (and willingness to say ‘I don’t know’ when asked questions outside of that experience) all made for one of the very best tours we have ever done! While I think your company would benefit from ‘keeping’ Noki as long as possible, may his Spirit be full always. Thank you!!!

We had a fantastic Foodwalk tour this week - what a fun start to our Iceland trip! Day was an informative & engaging guide, and we learned so much about Icelandic life in addition to food experiences. I would recommend this tour to any visitor to Iceland - you will be glad you went!

Nokkvi was a fantastic tour guide — full of interesting stories about Icelandic history and culture, weaving in his own story and the story of his family that traces its roots back to Iceland’s founding settler! Five fun restaurant stops, each with good food and a different unique Icelandic vibe. Lamb two ways, fish three ways, a classic Icelandic hot dog, fermented shark, and rye bread ice cream. And lots of bonus recommendations for food and drink and adventure in Reykjavik and beyond.

This is a great way to start exploring Reykjavik. We spent 2.5 hours going around downtown Reykjavik, stopping at 5 food joints. The choice of these food joints is eclectic, from simple authentic Iceland hotdog to delicate seafood from Messinn. The flavors are local but approachable. Our guide “Day” is an excellent guide. He’s very knowledgeable about local culture and history but also understands the diverse backgrounds of the group and answers questions patiently. He keeps the whole group engaged and shares good laughs at stops. He’s passionate about the job and takes pleasure in doing it. We feel having a good time with him. This is definitely something we would recommend friends visiting Reykjavik to take.

This is the perfect tour, whether you’re a “foodie” or not … the perfect balance of food, insight and fun! Our guide, Asthildur, was among the best I’ve encountered. Her depth of knowledge was inspiring, and her engaging personality helped everyone relax and enjoy themselves.

We had a fantastic time on this food tour. Our guide, Ben, was amazing! He interacted really well with the group specially with my 6 year old daughter. She had a blast despite the walking and kept her thoroughly entertained.

Even though I am not a fish lover, I have to say, by the end of the tour, I enjoyed all the dishes we had. Emma was very entertaining and knowledgeable.

Perfect way to “get acquainted” with Reykjavik! Our guide Heidi was effervescent and knowledgeable, and shared interesting historical and cultural facts in an entertaining fashion. The food was varied, interesting and delicious — except the fermented shark. But now, when I encounter native Icelanders on the sidewalk — they can tell that I managed to eat it without hurling — and so pointedly seek out eye contact and give me the secret nod. Thanks Wake Up Reykjavik!

Honestly felt like this was the best way to experience the food culture here! Our tour guide Heidi, was an absolute angel and explained all the foods and gave us fun facts about the city as a whole which was very much appreciated. Would really reccomend to anyone who would want to experience the food scene here in Iceland.
