Private Wine Tour with Wine Tasting and Full Lunch
Overview
We’ll first go to the picturesque village of Requena, where we’ll visit some 9th century caves. These were used for storing cereals, meat and wine; the beautiful old clay pots are still there. Here we’ll do a short guided tour, and a first wine tasting (2-3 wines), before continuing to Utiel.
Our next stop is an authentic 19th century winery, where we'll do a guided tour, starting in the vineyards, and following the wine making process from "grape to bottle". We see the vineyards, production area, and barrel rooms. After that we'll taste some of their best wines.
For lunch we'll go to a nearby village, a complete local lunch with more wine…
This tour can be made wheelchair accessible, or done by groups of <3 people, and >14, but only on request.

These are the old wine caves under the old centro of Requena; dug out under the houses, they still contain the clay pots used for making and storing wine.

A very authentic, 19th century winery, family run, small production; great place to visit! Someone of the family will show you around and explain how they make their wines. Followed by a wine tasting of 3 wines.

Johan organised a private tour for two of us, fairly last minute. Great communication throughout; really took hassle out of organising winery trips. Johan is incredibly knowledgeable about wine and the Valencia region - was great conversing with him over the day! We’ve done a few private tours in other countries previously, and what made this even more worthwhile was not only did Johan offer hotel pickup/ drop off, organise the tours and lunch, and provide local knowledge, but he actually gave the tours inside the wineries themselves. This gave it a more personal feel, and had added bonus where we got to choose which wines to taste! We both had an amazing day and was one of our highlights from a great trip to Valencia. Would highly recommend doing a tour with Johan for anyone visiting!The Grape Harvest Tour is always a great time. We’ve done it twice now!! Johan designs some well thought out trips. We got picked up in the city centre by air conditioned bus and drove out to the country to Chateau Estenas. This is our second wine tasting with Johan and the day was perfect. We got picked up in the city centre by air conditioned bus and drove out to the country to Chateau Estenas. We began the day by picking grapes and if we chose we could stomp them with our feet in a wooden barrel ( totally fun) We then had a tasting of white wine under the shady trees at long outdoor tables. We had a tour of the vineyard and were informed of how the grapes were grown and harvested. As well as a short tour of the fermentation room and the wine museum. After we sat down to a wonderful lunch of multiple courses. The food and wine were delicious and it was a wonderful group of people from all over the globe. Johan is professional, down to earth and fun to be with.
