Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Valle dei Templi, Piazza Archeologica 1 Via Panoramica Dei Templi, 92100, Agrigento, Sicily Italy

First stop of the tour: The Valley of the Temples, in Agrigento.
Unesco heritage, the Valley of the Temples houses a series of Doric Temples from the Hellenic period still in an exceptional state of conservation. Entering the archaeological site you will have the impression of having gone back in time and it is easy to imagine the beauty and refinement of the Hellenic era.
Among the park's monuments: the temple of Zeus, the most imposing of all; the temple of Heracles, the oldest; the temple of Concordia, the best preserved Doric sanctuary in the world because it was converted into a Christian sanctuary; the temple of Juno and, finally, the Temple of Dioscuri, symbol of the city of Agrigento. The area of the Agorà from the Greco-Roman age, the mosaic floors, the ancient aqueducts in the Hellenic Roman residential areas and the early Christian basilicas are also beautiful.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Agrigento, Agrigento, Province of Agrigento, Sicily

Stop for lunch. At your choice, the driver will take you to a restaurant for a break before the next stop.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Villa Romana del Casale, Strada Provinciale 90, 94015 Piazza Armerina, Sicily Italy

Second stage of the tour: Piazza Armerina.
The small town, surrounded by forests, woods and natural reserves, offers a splendid Baroque historical center, presided over by the imposing Cathedral, and the famous Villa Romana del Casale. The Villa, a UNESCO heritage site, is a magnificent rural residence which belonged to an exponent of the Roman senatorial aristocracy. The charm of the structure is mainly due to the wonderful floor and wall mosaics, which represent the lifestyle of the owner. The stylistic influences of African art are evident. The decorations distinguish different styles and narrative cycles: one dedicated to mythology and epic poems, the other attributed to the nature and scenes of everyday life of the Roman aristocracy.

Promised guide was a no show. Driver did not speak English. No promised admission tickets to Valley of temples. We had to buy our own. This was not a tour. It was a drive in an uncomfortable mini van with air conditioning that only somewhat worked. Very disappointing

The temple ruins were remarkable, but even more spectacular was the Piazza Armerina! The mosaic tiles were incredible. it’s one thing to see renditions of palaces in Hollywood films, but to actually stand looking at the remnants is a unique experience. It’s a bit of a long ride from Palermo but ...
