The Mutianyu Great Wall is considered the most beautiful section in Beijng. Located in Huairou County 72km northeast of Beijing, it stands opposite of Badaling Great Wall, connected with Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Gateway in the east. The whole area is like a garden on a mountain top. There are abundant natural springs which feed a great variety of plants and fruit trees, keeping the air fresh all year long. The scenic beauty is excellent especially in spring and autumn.

My wife and I had a layover in Beijing so we decided to go to the Great Wall during that time. One of our friends had used this company before and recommended them to us and we were so lucky to have used them! Amazing service, better experience, and the best tour guide (Joyce)! She knows her stuff in and out and is so fun to speak too! She has quite a bit of knowledge not just on the Great Wall but China in general and had very good delightful conversations with her. If you take this tour, I highly recommend asking for her as she is truly passionate about her job and ensures you have Amazing experience! Kim was on time, spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable about history, architecture, and culture. We were picked up at the time requested. Nico was informative, friendly & kind as we navigated our way to the wall. We were a party of 3. One of whom had mobility impairment. Nico was very patient with us all. I would highly recommend the Catherine Lu Tours, and we actually used them again on the return trip in January. Different guide, but still great service. Was picked up at the hotel lobby and then taken to our car, which had a selection of refreshments for the journey. On the way, facts about Beijing and The Great Wall were spoken about and discussions exchanged regarding Chinese and British lifestyles. Once at the venue, we took the cable car up to the wall and proceeded with our journey through watch towers, steep steps and fascinating views. I decided to toboggan down the mountain along with Jenny, (our tour guide) who also spoke about more facts about the wall towards tower 6. We stopped off for a delicious lunch and then made a detour to Tiananmen Sq on the way back where again, many facts and figures were mentioned. I fully recommend Jenny, as not only does she speak great English but, is a friendly fun person.We took this tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. We took this tour yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. Jenny was not only knowledgable about Beijing and the Great Wall but also gave us a great insight in to Chinese culture and day to day life. We were picked up at our hotel, offered a range of soft drinks or beer in the car and driven to the Wall. On the way back we had a fantastic lunch in an authentic local restaurant and diverted via Tiananmen Square on the way back to the hotel. All in all, best possible experience had, would not hesitate to recommend Jenny.We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which was just long enough, but not too long to ingest all the knowledge that Connie shared during the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which was just long enough, but not too long to ingest all the knowledge that Connie shared during the tour. Lena’s detailed knowledge of the Great Wall, especially of all the successful & attempted invasions from foreign adversaries was fascinating. Much like another walking tour we did the pace & timing was just right given the high season as we were able to see everything without it being too crowded and the way you managed our itinerary meant we really didn’t have to wait anywhere for any real period of time. Just be prepared to get up and out pretty sharply in the morning and wear suitable walking shoes / trainers as they will be needed. Along with Lena’s excellent command of English we would highly recommend her and the tour company to anyone that is interested on this kind of tour. Being lucky with the weather didn’t do any harm as the early morning sunshine and fewer crowds made this an overall breath-taking experience. PS to Lena – we are just sorry you got stuck behind a slow driver on the toboggan ride as we had a great time going doing so fast!!! The toboggan is a must for any inner child in you ;-).
