The BBC and National Geographic have documented this unique and incredible spectacle of nature right here in Baja California! This natural and safe animal encounter is accessible to anyone who loves to be in the water - there is no age restriction! This is one of nature's great events and it happens in very few places around the world... but it happens right here in Cabo every summer! Cabo Private Guide is a bespoke adventure water tours company in Los Cabos specialising in private tours with awe-inspiring wildlife. We have expert guides who are all PADI Divemaster trained as a minimum but are also very accustomed to being in the water with all kinds of large aquatic animals. We offer video footage to document this special day. The super squadrons of mobula rays travel up and down the Sea of Cortez.

  • Snacks - Drinking water in reusable containers.
  • Reef Safe Sunscreen
  • Use of Snorkelling equipment

What to expect

This tour is for a minimum of 2 people. The tour starts at headquarters to fit equipment and then we walk 8 minutes to the boat. Your guide will give a briefing about Best Practice behaviours before setting off to scout for huge super squadrons of mobula rays! NO SIGHTINGS ARE GUARATEED and so we snorkel for one hour at the reef during this tour so you can see some of the reef wildlife if nothing is found in the blue. When spotted, the rays swim close to the surface but also swim further down deep. If you're an avid freediver you can head down to meet them. You will be in deep water and will be offered a life jacket. The activity involves a certain level of fitness as you will need to swim along to keep up! The captain will position himself close to the rays, but we don't want to disturb them by moving the boat over them, so you will need to swim out a little way to meet them. Occasionally they will come to us and move around under the boat which means we can just hang there and watch! We find that 3 hours on the water is an optimal tour length and will head back in at that time. This tour is best in the morning, leaving at 7am, 7:30am or 8am. GoPro footage included for free.

Despite a slight issue with the first boat (which just made it more of an adventure), this was a fantastic trip. The water was a bit too warm to snorkel with a school of mobula rays, but we were able to see some jumping as well as some of the larger rays. Because of this, we headed to the reef w...

Great experience with guide Felipe! My girlfriend and I enjoyed our very first snorkeling adventure and I'd recommend a private guide for beginners and veterans. You can't beat the knowledge, attention and patience. It's nice to snorkel at your own pace. Would recommend cabo private guide to ever...

We just got back from 2 awesome days with Cabo Private Guide. The first day was a 2 tank local dive at Pelican Rock and Neptune's finger. Highlight was the massive school of mobula rays. Second day, we did a day trip out to Cabo Pulmo. We went looking for bull sharks and we scored big time. ...

We did a private snorkel to Lovers Beach and Pelican Rock with Jenny and loved it! Being picked up at our hotel by Juan Pablo and doing the paperwork at the office was a breeze. They are located right by the Marina so a short walk to the boat, which was just us, Jenny, and Angel for the trip. We ...

Laura and team were fantastic. Our dive master Felipe took us on a 3 tank dive and mobula snorkel. Swimming with hundreds of mobulas was an unforgettable experience. The boat was private, Felipe was really fun and knowledgeable, and the conditions were amazing! Will definitely dive with them aga...

Laura and her team are great to dive with! We set up a two tank morning dive. Jenny arrived with all the gear and tanks. She was super helpful and knowledgeable. I've been diving lots of places and Cabo Private Guide is a well run, organized and efficient shop. The ocean was full of rays, octopus...
